I need more ideas to help raise my normal everyday ramen into something delicious and filling! Any suggestions?
yeah.
buy soba noodles, bouillon, miso paste, tamari, bonito flakes, nori, and spices in bulk.
experiment with combinations, and add fresh veggies, baby shrimp, chicken, or thinly sliced steak/roast beef. if you add the beef, cook it rare to begin with then put it in the bowl and pour the hot broth over it to finish cooking. if you slice it thin enough, you can put it in raw and cook it only with the broth. If you buy in bulk it won't be too much more expensive than packaged ramen and it will actually provide some nutritional content (something packaged ramen definitely lacks).
Excellent idea. I shall try it at once! Thanks!
also, remember that miso should never be boiled but that boiled tofu is probably the best tofu if you boil it with a few spoons of kecap manis and drizzle it with sesame oil afterwards
for best results, omit tofu completely.
but yeah, add the miso after all the boiling is done and just simmer it for a minute or three.
I bet I am going to screw this up so bad when I first try it
Taht's what buying in bulk is for.

Oh, come on. The survelliance cameras clearly show--
...Whoops.
Wait, how do your surveillance cameras see inside my head?! :tinfoilhat:
They are highly advanced.
I love the direction in which Orbital Platform Technology is being applied.

BTW: since I was a kid; I have indulged in ramen in the following manner:
1. Boil noodles as usual.
2. drain water
3. add 1 or 2 tbsp of SOUR CREAM
4. add seasoning and mix in.
5. profit
Most people tell me this sounds disgusting, but I swear, it's really quite good.
Guilty pleasure good.
Sounds kind of like a beef stroganoff.
I'd add more stuff, but I can see it being good!

I think chopped green onion would make it awesomer. Special note: do NOT overcook the noodles, otherwise it's gross.
Agreed. Some kind of finely cut / ground meat too. If you had a leftover pork / beef / lamb roast, I don't think you'd go wrong tossing some of that into the stuff.
I think the idea of COOKING ramen is sort of a mistake. I've gotten best results putting it in a bowl and pouring 1-2 cups REALLY boiling water over it.
Mix until done, drain the water off if you don't want soup.
i've done the sour cream thing with rice instead of noodles (cause rice >>>>> noodles in both nutrition AND cheapness)
I am almost ashamed to admit that one of my horrifying "comfort foods" is a can of cream of mushroom soup and a cup of sour cream, over chicken or pork, over rice, baked.
If you're looking for the most calories for your monetary unit, it'll get you there.
Mom's made that often for us. That's some good cooking
I prefer to use crushed ramen as croutons. They taste better "raw." Beyond that, it's also nice to add green onions or use peanut sauce instead of the broth.
It's not true that ramen shall never die... I mean sure it has a half-life somewhere near radium, but at some point even the highly experimental and classified chemicals that they use in secret ramen labs will break down into inert materials.
The real question is what sort of toxic dump facilities need to be built to handle the Ramen Waste until it breaks down?
Now I want some ramen. :(

Girl, we know the truth... you just want some ... men
(to do your bidding as the slaves that they should be)
HAH.
Actually, at this moment I am so distracted by not having the one that I want that I, sadly, can only say I want that one, singular man. :(
I've been spayed by love.
