A long time ago, Boba Fett was an evil underdog fave, due to his enigmatic status. However, over time, his character developed and so many others have been introduced. Perhaps equally, when the Ewoks came along, no one could take it (them) seriously, have there been even more disdainful Lucas creations in STAR WARS? What's yours?
My favourite is Grand Moff Tarkin.

game, set, match.
George Lucas is an evil bastard. He took who is arguably the most iconic Villiain in movie history. A figure who was dark, forboding, yet complex. Someone who would send a chill down your spine just looking at him. And Lucas gave him a backstory as a whiny, spoiled, teenage brat. What the fuck? Lucas is a sick mofo.
the droid, RU-486
Darth Maul is probably my least favorite. His face was ALL OVER the Phantom Meanace ads, but he's marginally even a character. His gimmick is the double-sided lightsaber, and nothing else is notable about him. He has no real motivation, no significant relationships to other characters, his role in that movie could have been played by a cartoon tasmanian devil and it would still be the same movie.

Thirded.
As for me, my favorite character is Yoda (not an original answer, but still . . .). Admiral Ackbar (sp?) comes in a close second, and Wedge follows up with a distant third.
Maul is my first-least favorite, Jar Jar is my second-least-favorite (even his name makes me want to punch him in the throat), and Jango Fett rounds out the Trinity of Crapulence.
I like the sand/desert-people. :| (can't help it)
Darth Maul - !! That is so fucking true! You gotta love the sand people, yeah, they seem to just hate everyone. Strangely, stormtroopers in all their incarnations, dumb as rocks as they may be, still have my obsession. But they're not a single character, so never mind.
I like all the characters, with the possible exception of Jar-Jar Binks and the junkyard flying slug dude that owned the Skywalkers.
Anakin, IMO, is an acceptable Fall/Redemption Hero, in fact, I think his story fits the tradition as well, if not better than Luke's Hero journey.
Likes:
Luke Skywalker still represents my inner child, sure he's a whinebag, but that's kids; he did become a powerful Jedi. :) Han Solo: what's not to like. My absolute favorites are not even individuals per se; I am a Stormtrooper fan.
Biggest hates:
I hate Gungans, spaceships/droids with deliberately 'cute' faces or cartoonesque voices and those goddamned lip flapping Neimoidians. Anakin as a character would have worked if they'd gotten an actual actor to play him instead of a strip of soggy bark. Mace Windu was robbed of a decent story and as for redubbing Boba Fett and making Han Shoot second. What the hell?
I could go on.
I won't.
My childhood favorite is R2D2, and probably is STILL my favorite really, but I also have a fondness for Admiral Ackbar because HE'S AWESOME.
Least favorite characters include Luke Sywalker and Jar-Jar Binks, mostly just because of the lame way the latter talks. Leia has some needs-slapping moments, but at least you can imagine strangling her while you fuck her.

I think my fave character is R2-D2. I enjoy imagining that he is a foul-mouthed pervert. Never gets the credit he deserves either.
My least favourite Star Wars character is George Lucas. I think we can all agree: the prequel movies are shit. Further, the 'Special Editions' are a load as well. Seriously, I can't wait for that fucker to die - we might get some decent Star Wars again then.
Around here we live our lives as though the prequel movies and 'special' editions don't exist. I have shown my son only the original theatrical releases of the original trilogy. We're all happier that way.
The LEGO Star Wars game is rad by the way.
I still haven't seen 2 or 3. My ex wouldn't watch 2 with me because he'd already seen it or some shit, and I wouldn't watch 3 until I'd seen 2.
OK, I might have seen 2 and 3 with Pinecone, but if so I was too drunk to remember.

"ESPECIALLY IN MY CUNT CANNON. NOT LIKE HERE, WHERE EVERYTHING'S SOFT, AND SMOOOOOOTH."
Fix'd, for authenticity to the original screenplay.
From the movies: Han Solo. Everyone else had to large of a case of The Raging Angst or was to minor of a character.
Nim and Jenkins, characters from the Jedi Starfighter game series. Although, Jenkins was more of a Slippy Toad clone, giving you technical advice on enemies. Nim was the big tough mercenary squadron leader, who played opposite the more heroic characters. His ship was more a heavy bomber than a starfighter - if you dischaged enough of his weaponry at once the screen would go white and yellow for a few seconds from all the explosions. :fap:
Also Bosk from Fett's trilogy. The trilogy itself had... issues... but you gotta love the bloodthirsty semi-competent bounty hunter who can't help but get one-upped by Fett every time they meet.
i liked anakin at first, but then he turned into that awful darth vader guy, who was all about blowing up planets and such. and that's just uncool.
Jar Jar Binks was awesome.
And fuck that Bubba Fett dude, or whatever his name is.
My favourite characters are C-3PO and Jar Jar Binks.
I seriously cannot stand Darth Vader and Han Solo. The movies would have been much better off without them.

I'm not defending the crap new trilogy, but I do think that the backstory for Darth Vader was kind of a neat mindfuck. Watching the original trilogy will never quite become the same.
Han Solo and Chewbacca are probably my favorite characters. Plus that guy in Jabba's palace who gets upset when his gigantic pet monster gets abruptly killed by Luke. They are the most beliavable characters in the movies.
least favorite? that's easy.
Luke Skywalker.

Favorite: Ysanne "Iceheart" Isard
Least Fave: Jacen Solo as Darth Caedus.
Yes, Expanded Universe, so suck my dick.
I guess movie-wise my favorite would have to be Wedge Antilles and my least favorite Jar-Jar only on the annoyabity factor, as in the EU he's much more involved with the state of things and becomes Senator of the Chommel Sector after Padme dies.
So why Ysanne Isard? Because as far as crazy Imperials go, she's at the top of the list. She was an advocate of torture, brainwashing, germ warfare, racism...everything you DON'T want in a leader in the real world wrapped up into this sexy evil package.
Not going to lie, if Lucas would recognize the books as full canon, the Imperial Remnant would have been MUCH FUCKING BETTER MOVIES than the Republic. Isard, Zsinj, Daala, and Thrawn make Palpatine look like a fucking pussy. If anything, at least just the Thrawn Trilogy, which is pretty much 7, 8, and 9 anyway.
As for Jacen Solo as Caedus, I blame it on bad writing and planning. Here's a character that had a ridiculous amount of potential as a Sith Lord, and you let Karen Traviss and Troy Denning write. Denning is okay, he tends to be dry, but Traviss can go back to fanfic land as far as I'm concerned. Her meaningless injections of Mandalorians and especially Boba Fett into every story while making herself a Mary Sue as some female character (Daala? REALLY?! WHY!!!!!!!!) to fuck said Mandalorians esp. Fett makes me sick.
Also, Jacen getting his ass handed to him by Jaina, who's idea was that? Because Han and Leia didn't have to deal with enough shit during the Yuuzhan Vong when both Anakin Solo and Chewbacca bite the dust, you had to go and have one twin kill the other. And then leaving Jacen's daughter, who no one knew existed considering the entire family can use the Force, in the custody of her grandparents because she was illegitimate and if the Hapan court found out, shit would hit the fan. How the hell did Tenel Ka hide her for 5 years anyway? Fuck.
Legacy of the Force should have ran like The New Jedi Order. Lots of authors with lots of storylines focusing around the same time period. 9 books by 3 authors made it too abrupt.

Greedo has always been a favourite of mine as well. I forgot to mention that.
Ahh, the blue elephant guy. Yeah, he seemed like a cool cat. Did he get replaced with a CG version in the Special Edition RotJ? I know they CGd the singer/lady/alien thing, which was quite lame. I mean, yeah, yeah, so you can see the strings making the puppet move, but it was okay, it worked.
All of that CG crap they added into the original trilogies was just stupid. It was horribly out of place. Splicing in 90s movie making technology into late 70s/early 80s movie making technology. Dumb, dumb, dumb!!! :argh!:
I believe Max made it through unscathed... Sy, on the other hand... not so lucky.
Left Max Rebo alone...CG'd the fuck out of Sy Snootles and changed her song, which ruined my childhood since Lapti Pek rules, but they added more scenes of Boba Fett pimping. :fap:
I could have done without those too.
I'm'a change my vote.
Frankly pretty much none of my circle of friends liked the new Clone Wars animated film, but some of y'all seem to have liked it so here I am giving it a shot. My wife is out for the evening - she loves the 'Wars, but can't take the prequels. I have a higher tolerance.
We're Trek folk, really. Friend of ours said something I found interestingly profound: Any given Star Trek ep could always be a little bit better than it is. I'm trying to apply that here. I mean, "Encounter at Farpoint" is not exactly the best Trek evar; Clone Wars is a series, it'll evolve.
There's stuff to like. There's some promising characterization. A lot of the animation is wooden, but it has some pretty slick fights. I had a little trouble getting used to the animation style.... Ahsoka is by far my favourite character though, I almost see watching the series just for her. Most folks came across like total caricatures but they're just introducing them again so that's to be expected. Perhaps someday Obi Wan will express an emotion beyond sardonicBritish. And even Dooku, handicapped as he is by having the stupidest bad-guy name ever, wasn't too bad.
But I just cannot stand those little "roger-roger" war droids.
I hate them. They are bad guys made to be impossible to be afraid of, deliberately. Their voices, especially when they're being 'stupid' (i.e. almost always) make me cringe. The moment where one falls off a cliff, screams "Oh my god!" before being blown to bits, and the other says "Get back here Sgt!" made me want to throw things at the screen. And yet they are The Enemy - they die, and they kill. In fact, they kill a lot of guys - that they're mostly the same guy though, and that there's always a bunch more of him around makes it hard to feel sorry about those deaths too, detaches us from them. I hate that he retconned Stormtroopers in to being somehow worth less than a real person.
The Star Wars prequels pointedly dehumanize war, and they do it on an industrial scale. It's a part of The Con. It's a sweet treat that contains a poison meme. And I hate that about it, hate it all the more because I love the original 'Wars, they're a part of me. And I swear by Eris I'll kick George Lucas in the balls for doing it if I ever get within 10 feet of him*.
I want to be able to like Clone Wars, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get past that.
Yeah yeah. I'm fuckin old now, I know? Quoth MC Frontalot:

At least within the film series, the story inconsistencies are hilarious. The presence of C3-PO & R2 in the pre-quels, their relationship to both Anakin and OBI-WAN then magically erased in "A NEW HOPE", WOW

I'm not sure what the canon says, but in Ep. IV, when Luke says he is going to join the academy, I've always assumed it was to be a stormtrooper...
But then again, Leia does he is a little short to be a stormtrooper, which would lend credence to them all being the same height.

How so? It says right at the end of Ep III that C3PO's mind is wiped, and R2 certainly seems to know what he is doing in Ep IV... most R2 units look alike, so why would Obi Wan recognize it? Besides, its displayed many times that Obi Wan doesn't really think of droids as people.

I'm used to inventing reasons for plot holes/weaknesses in Trek (an amusing mental exercise - I can explain away well over half the shit in "The Nit-Picker's Guide To Star Trek") but I'm not as experienced doing so with Star Wars.
At least within the film series, the story inconsistencies are hilarious. The presence of C3-PO & R2 in the pre-quels, their relationship to both Anakin and OBI-WAN then magically erased in "A NEW HOPE", WOW
How so? It says right at the end of Ep III that C3PO's mind is wiped, and R2 certainly seems to know what he is doing in Ep IV... most R2 units look alike, so why would Obi Wan recognize it? Besides, its displayed many times that Obi Wan doesn't really think of droids as people.
Ha! I guess I'm always drunk by the end!

This actually was another, related problem I was having with Clone Wars. On the one hand there's a significant effort made to make droids act more like people. On the other hand droids are routinely killed/destroyed without a second thought or any shred of remorse. Its just fucking weird is all.

Yeah. although i liked the thing overall, the fact that the droid army grunts were made to act as comic relief was annoying. I thought the whole point of the droid army guys were that they looked very minimally human, so you could get away with destroying them in mass and not feel bad?
I feel for the plight of robots.
I am, to the very core, a villain enthusiast. I think a lot of great movies, books, and video games are defined by the villain. That being said, my favorite character is Darth Vader, and by a long shot. Episodes I, II, & III did quite a bit to ruin the character, but were forgivable for the most part as, even after Anakin "becomes" Darth Vader, he isn't really Vader until he dons that suit. The most ruinous part was when he fell to his knees and gave a half-assed "NOOOO," but even that I can forget because of the time elapsed between III and IV.
I love that first force choke.
I love "I find your lack of faith disturbing."
I love the breathing and the voice.
I love "Join me and together we can rule the galaxy as father and son."
I love, LOVE the Imperial March.
I can remember watching the original trilogy when I was a kid, maybe 7 or 8 years old, and just being completely awed by him.

I love Darth Vader too... he didn't fall to his knees, though.
And I can't imagine Darth later howling "NOOOO" like that, I think it was the last whine of Anakin Skywalker, and then he died.
I hate this guy

I think the same is very true of the troopers. In both the "Clone Wars" films and animated, Storm Troopers ask no questions and just head into the heavy fire. But that's they're role I guess. Droids get recognized for their actions in sort of heroic achievement manner, but they totally get used.
Even though I'm drunk, I still think the links associated with R2 & C3-PO have reality glitches. OBI-WAN can't be that daft. Why doesn't Vader sense the familiar presence of his own droid? Luke's uncle owned 3PO and then buys him again, not realizing it? I'm too drunk to think of more...
There must be hundreds of droids who look just like C-3PO and R2, we just don't see them for confusions sake, is my take.
And, about the feelings of the force, well, since droids aren't technically alive maybe the force has no way to touch them, and they are essentially invisible to it?

RE: The droids in The Clone Wars:
WHAT. THE. FUCK.
Now, let me tell you, I am perfectly prepared to suspend my disbelief for a sufficiently awesome idea. The "comic relief" that the Lucas tried to pull off with the droids was not sufficiently awesome.
It's establish, in one of the movies, no less, that the droids have some kind of transmitter to coordinate their actions or something. SO CAN SOMEBODY EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THEY ARE CRACKING JOKES OUT LOUD TO EACH OTHER? THEY HAVE FUCKING WIRELESS. Also, there was a scene where one of the droids was counting something out loud and then amusingly destroyed. Counting out loud? You - are - a - computer. You can count from 0 to 63 on a single byte. My four-function calculator is smarter than you.
Re: the rest of The Clone Wars.
I'm sure they made this mistake in other movies, but - if you are not a mammal, you do not get to have mammaries. E/O/T. Alien babes do not have boobs.
Insane Hutt thing with a retarded accent. WTF. I mean, the voice acting was terrible all around, but was that really necessary?
Spaceships with internal combustion engines inside and jets on the outside. So Anakin and Pre-Teen Not-A-Mammal Jedi Girl are trying to escape by jacking a small spaceship. You can hear the engine turn over and fail to start. YOU HEARD A LIGHT-SPEED CAPABLE ENGINE FUCKING TURN OVER AND IT SOUNDS LIKE A SHITTY CAR. I'M SORRY ANAKIN, SOMEBODY MUST HAVE LEFT YOUR INTERSTELLAR JUNKHEAP OUT IN THE COLD AND NOW THE ENGINE WON'T START.
Jabba the Hutt's nephew is sick. How do we know? Because Obnoxious Jedi Girl FEELS ITS FOREHEAD. They could have said that she had extensive training in xenophysiology at the Jedi Temple, or said that she sensed its sickness with the Force. But no, she FEELS ITS FUCKING FOREHEAD AND ANNOUNCES THAT IT HAS A FEVER.
So the Clone Troopers are besieging some Separatist city with heavy artillery. The city puts up a slowly-expanding energy shield that blocks ranged fire. Cool. The droids advance just behind the shield, using it to protect them from the artillery until they will be to close for the artillery to fire. (The plan being to slaughter the artillery.) Cool. The Clone commanders realize this and start freaking out. Okay. The droids start walking on a bridge. Commander: "OH NOES, Jedi, hurry and go disable the shield generator." Guess what they don't do? DESTROY THE BRIDGE. The ONLY WAY OUT OF THIS CITY IS ON A BRIDGE.
All of this could be forgiven for an engaging plot, or engaging characters, or even decent voice-acting.

This is a pretty pointed question. I would have just said:

I agree with everything in this post. For all of his faults, at least Lucas was able to (in the original trilogy) concoct such an iconic villain. Man, if I was a part of the Empire, I'd shit bricks anytime he walked into the room I was in.

People still shit bricks every time Darth Vader walks into the room, I speak from personal experience. I found that Royal Guards aren't well liked either. Apparently we are the root of all evil.
Also: Didn't fall to his knees.

How do we know that Togrutas aren't mammals?
Togrutas are considered near-human, and therefore: Boobs.
