As a rabid Sopranos and Rome fanatic, I was delightfully surprised when I found out a month or two ago about the new series True Blood.

True Blood is an American television drama series created by Alan Ball, based on the Sookie Stackhouse book series by Charlaine Harris. The show is broadcast on the premium cable network HBO in the United States. It is produced by HBO in association with Ball's production company, Your Face Goes Here Entertainment.[1] It premiered on September 7, 2008. The show has been renewed for a second season.[2]
True Blood details the co-existence of vampires and humans in Bon Temps, a fictional small Louisiana town. The series centers on Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), a telepathic waitress at a diner, who falls in love with vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer).[1][3]
It is a fantastic series, I encourage anyone who likes vampires, or hell, even good old HBO series,to at least check this out. It's got a solid storyline, some sex, some delicious vampire gore death scenes.
VAMPIRES IN LOUISIANA AND LOVE STORIES BETWEEN MORTALS AND VAMPIRES ARE TOTALLY ORIGINAL AND HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE.
That sounds wretched.

I prefer zombies but I am also partial to a good vampire flick.
But hey, there is a dog what is a man who is the dog.

Make him a psychic who also does forensic work and CBS would pick it up without even reading the script.

Fixt.
If FOX would pick up anything that isn't 24 and House and continue to actually air it after one season would be a fucking miracle.

There is this man who can change his shape to any animal he has last seen. And he owns a dog, so he can make himself to be that dog.
But when he is a dog he is not that dog but a copy of that dog.
I saw maybe 5 minutes of it. That was about all I can stand, and I love vampires and werewolves and shit.
I actually watched a couple of episodes of this. Its not too bad. Its certainly not genre-breaking brilliance either, but its been done at least halfway competently.
On the other hand, I find myself more interested in minor characters than I do in the main plot, so maybe that is a warning sign.
I like the show.
It's campy goth noir, and there are plenty of boobs.
Also, the plot has gotten pretty far away from the books, which is ok, because (at least the first two books I read), the books are pretty poorly written. Not as bad as Twilight, though.
And, I must repeat: Boobs.
I mainly like Tara whenever she has to deal with a customer.
I prefer Lafayette.
I could kinda stand the first 4 episodes, but it just got really really boring.
He's pretty awesome too. But Tara's opening scene was epic.

It's a good show. As far as it goes, anyway. What LMNO said is true--it's not true to the books at all. But it's entertaining in the extreme.
And lots of blood + sex.

I have to agree with this assessment--I think the 2d season followed along plotlines faster and kept you better engaged mid-season than the 1st one did.
Actually, a program I have recently liked is Sons of Anarchy. Organized crime, bikers, Nazis and a plot based on Hamlet. What more could you want?

Um. Nothing. That's perfect.
And it stars the dude from City of Lost Children and Hellboy. Ron something.
Second season of True Blood has a scene where two hot vampires fuck in the blood of their victims.
I mean, wow. OMNIFAP.
The near-beastiality orgy plays a dominant role in the second season as well.

Jeremy?
And also True Blood is pretty damn good.
Don't have HBO, so I just finished watching the first season on DVD.
And now I probably will have to wait a half a year for next season

Great. Now I have the image of Ron Jeremy in a Surrealist French art movie.

Also, Peggy Bundy looking ten times hotter than she did on Married with Children. Probably thanks to surgery and the like but still.
In all seriousness though, I love that show - that and Breaking Bad are two of the best shows to have come out on TV in a while and I can actually get excited about seeing the next episodes.
I would like to know more about the Hottest, Newest Series and all the Beautiful People that star in it, please.
I need this information. It's what makes me ME, if you know what I mean. And you DO know what I mean, right? This stuff makes us real...as real as Lindsay Lohan's tits, as real as the newest rock band, as real as the only living man in Tucson. And he's so real you can almost touch him.
It's true roger, I need my fix of the Real Beautiful People, and New. I'm lost without my television set, like a lonely orphan. I have to know the things that will make them like me and want to be me. And thats the most important thing in life.
Sorry, I guess I must just be a little too low-brow for you guys or something. God forbid anyone get entertained...someone might think they're having fun.
Blood and tits? Count me in.

Pay no attention to me. I'm stuffed full of misanthropy and pills, today.
However, the upside of that is that you started a really great thread.

It's just been one of those days. Everything is out of focus, and the colors are all wrong. My coworkers all walk around with fixed grins, and I am beginning to suspect that they are just as heavily medicated as I am. I think the word for it is disassociation (?), I have a strong vibe of unreality going on here, and I think I really need to go to The Safehouse tonight and swill coffee til I feel a little more grounded (hyper will suffice, thank you very much), and then maybe I can articulate it better (have laptop, will travel). I don't know. I'm having trouble laughing at the monkeys around me today, because I'm not entirely certain I understand just what it is they're trying to do.
So, Cain, sorry about pooping on your thread. I shall be more circumspect in the future.
Ugh, I hate the feeling that everyone else might actually be robots... and then you're suddenly not so sure about yourself, either. Like you expect wires to start popping out of your skin.

In both cases I apologized because I was at fault, and the person I dumped on didn't deserve it. Coincidentally enough, neither person saw fit to respond to the apology, and I honestly don't know what that means.
i guess i am just used to the people you dump on being deserving of it,
it weird to see your aim be off,
its usually a rare occurrence..

Agreed. My girl watches Sons of Anarchy and it's pretty enjoyable.
Now I have to go look into this Sons of Anarchy stuff!
http://www.hulu.com/sons-of-anarchy
The show pairs Katey Sagal with Ron Pearlman (City of Lost Children, Hellboy) as her Ol' Man/leader of the gang.
I find some of the overt 'bad-boy' symbolism a bit fnordie, but the actual plot is good gangland drama mainly because you start getting interested in specific people, and then the shooting and explosions start and who know's who'll live through it.

It means "Cain was out celebrating with his girlfriend her (provisional) pass score for University and didn't see this until today".
Besides, no harm no foul. Its just dumping on an entire form of media annoys me. Well, except in one particular case, interpretative dance is an abomination and should be destroyed.

It looks like some of the same people involved in
The Shield are involved with this, too. That the fictional One-Niner gang was mentioned, and a detective from the series, Dutch, has been briefly sited, suggests they are, anyway.
I hope so, since The Shield was the second best cop show of the last decade, just coming behind The Wire in terms of plot complexity and moral ambiguity. I'm already seeing shades of that in this.
Just watched the first five episodes, my god its terrible.
Ah, Ron Perlman...see, I used to watch him when he was Beauty's Beast (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092319/)...
Jenne,
Sadly, is old indeed
HAHAHAHA, yeah. My girl showed me that after we had watched Sons of anarchy for a while.
