Title: The Peedy Forums Elsewhere on the Internet
Post by: Cramulus on November 30, 2008, 01:14:19 AM
This thread is for finding out about our stuff being posted or discussed elsewhere on the web.

Specifically we're looking for evidence of OMGASM, The Black Iron Prison, Golden Apple Seed Missions, or really any talk about the PD forums.

If it seems appropriate, please use hxxp to link to forums or blogs. The aim is not to participate in the discussions linked here, but to observe the transmission of our ideas. If our memes are being transmitted, even if it's people tearing them up, it is good evidence of their strength.

(http://www.windibank.net/Articles/images/HowToString/protip.gif) use -negative operators to sort out stuff which isn't about us, but shares common words. the following search string will weed out a lot of noise.

"black iron prison" -valis

There's a high possibility this is somebody from the forum.
here, they apparently used each article from the Black Iron Prison booklet to spam this creationist forum. The other users have names like "stopthechaos", so there's obviously some order/chaos tension there! A little response but no real discussion though.  :p

QuoteYour neat thing today is a companion piece to the Principia Discordia, called The Black Iron Prison.  "Black iron prison" is a concept from Phillip K. Dick's VALIS trilogy - a concept of imprisonment so subtle that the prisoner doesn't know it exists. It's mental imprisonment. In my humble opinion, one of its manifestations is people turing their clocks backwards and forward for reasons they don't understand.

As Tim Boucher says:

Gnosticism generally asserts that the archons (which means literally "authorities") are the masters and architects of this prison, and that their goal is to control us completely. But in a way, I think we decide to let them.

He may have just been quoting Dick though. I don't know PKD well enough to say, but the guy seems like he is almost there, on the brink of the BIP ideas.

I left them a link to the BIP.

this is a review of the Principia which mentions the BIP.

QuoteThe book itself is a pseudo religious text filled with the kind of truths that the big-box religions won't ever tell you. If you are the questioning sort, it may well be the key to unlocking the first doors of your personal black iron prison. If you don't know what BIP is, do not despair, that's just the way your were born into it.

This guy actually came to PD and debated with us, but flounced after he made up his mind. Someone else might refresh us as to what happened there.

Two more links, these ones are kind of minor.

an advice thread. Somewhere in here, someone reccommends the BIP.

this is a reading list which mentions us. "If Discordians and gnostics are just one side of the same coin, then the Principia Discordia deserves a place in on any gnostic bookshelf. Its sister work, The Black Iron Prison, is especially valuable."

Yes, this was Laz.  He came here and acted all interested in the BIP.  Then he started asking questions, then he started disagreeing alot, and not getting it.  Then we came to find out that he really really didn't get it when someone stumbled upon this website.  Because as opposed to AKK, I don't think he bothered once to plug his site.  He obviously was here to gather material for his site.  There is a thread in this subforum somewhere where LHX, LMNO, and myself all wrote responses to his critique of the BIP.  I'll see if I can find it and add the link here.

This paragraph alone makes it painfully clear that you have no understanding of what we are saying.  You obviously took a quick glance at the metaphor and it,Äôs symbolism, and came to a quick conclusion based upon your own biases, as opposed to the extensive dialogs that can be found here.

It looks more like this "closer to God" guy is trying to pass himself off as some sort of guru or swami.  "Hey, look at me!  I've already transcended everything you are experiencing!".  Unfortunately, that still won't get him laid on the internet.

Apparently one of the most famous blogs there is run by a Discordian.  It may give it that sort of internet/media cred and recognition that it does not have over here.

Because THAT is one of my favorite memes.

Otherwise.  I remember the Closer to God guy.  Thought he was the know all end all of everything.  Came here telling the people who actually wrote the BIP how they were wrong and shit?  Same asshole right?

Laz.  And at first, he seemed interested in what we were doing.  Maybe it was an act, who knows.  But then he started arguing, and it was the arguing without listening act.  Then he left.  Then he did the write-up on closertogod.  I sent him a couple e-mails inviting him to come back and answer a few questions we had about the write up but he's never come back.

OM's not a term specific to the forum, however.  Its mentioned in Illuminatus and later Discordian books, they may have picked it up there.

Also, how do all you people manage to dig through LJ for all this stuff?  Going there hurts my head.
