Yes, so he could be famous and brag about it without being imprisoned for RickRolling every myspace and bebo page there is.

Come to think of it, why didn't he?

You know, this security flaw is looking pretty nasty right now http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/12/05/new_dnschanger_hijacks/

How nasty it is depends on your ISP/

http://www.doxpara.com/ has a check to see if you're secure.

Also, this guy is now one of the biggest names in security research, simply because of the hype surrounding this vuln, he probably has more work than he can handle, at ridiculous hourly rates.

as a side note,

if anybody ever dares to kill the internet i wont kill him, oh no, ill keep him alive as long as possible!
every wound i cause will be treated to the best of my abilities, not that i plan to cause many wounds but accidents can happen when youre torturing someone.

Wait wait wait

Eventually, he'll tell us that he had a little bit of fun at the expense of the Internet, right?

...Right?

What a great article. I had no idea something as large and decentralized as the internet could be vulnerable in that way, but I guess DNS is like the skeleton that keeps it together. spooky stuff!
