#1 having trouble downloading pdf freezes at 169 MB out of 200 ??
WTF? The biggest file there is 7.7 MB.
I nearly had a heart attack when you said 200 MB. No pdf file should be that large, not ever.
Hey, next time there is an issue that says "articles written by", and my name is included in that list, could we, I don't know, maybe actually put one of my writings in that issue?
eta: yes, I am slightly pissed. I'm not going to bother to try to be a part of these things if when I bother to try to find things to include they are not included.

this is my fault, RWHN. i didn't intend to skip you, you just got lost in the pile of stuff. i'll make a revision.
Okay. Thanks.

Most excellent Vex!
I would like to say that I like what you've put together, Vex, but I can't . . . . . .
BECAUSE I FUCKING LOVE IT!!! Great job! Mittens don't do you justice.
Hahahah I haven't read it yet but I am looking forward to the holiday gift guide for kids, because I've been writing those in my head for YEARS.
Angrily.
So who is awesome enough to step up and edit Issue #3?

Weren't you slated to do an issue on the theme of "Adventure"? If so, I have a column in the works about Ant people, faceless children and the imprisonment of alien races that I could finish up and send your way.
I don't know why but a few of the pages don't show up properly on Scribd. Works fine when you download it as a .PDF though. Strange. :?
awesome!

Yes, I'm actually still brainstorming the theme... I'm also thinking of "Projects", "Networks" and "In-Jokes".
But I don't intend to start on this right now - my priority right now is the Etc. Discordia... would be better if someone else stepped up to edit an issue. It's quite easy, really. Plus I don't want Intermittens to turn into the Cramulus show.
It's funny - remember that guy 23press who showed up a few weeks ago? He said he was writing an anarchistic zine - meaning that the people who were composing the zine had no internal hierarchy. That's
exactly what we're doing. :p

In all seriousness, I understand what you're saying. I would take on the show, but I'm neither good at compiling things, nor at working with layout software. If it's not basic MS Word, I'm fucked as far as layout knowledge goes.
To whoever wants to take up the mantle, though, I've got plenty of steam in my for some articles, and I'm also working on next issue's Whoroscopes. The new Discordian Signs this time will be Bumblebee, Twizzler, Fauvist, Dungpile, and Condom.
I wish I was awesome enough to step up and edit, but right now I'm kind of in "survive through the day" mode, so I can't commit to anything.
Success story: I have successfully placed five (5) copies of Intermittens Issue #2 in a local coffee/muffin shop by my work. Sparing a few minutes to note public reaction, I noticed the following:
1) Two different guys flipped through the issue and said, "What the hell is this?"
2) One woman (youngish, rather foxy) laughed her ass off about something inside of it. I couldn't spy too closely, but I think she was looking at the page with the rocket chainsaw picture.
3) One old woman who was roughly 3126 years old sat down, flipped through it, and began to do the crossword.
4) Several people - probably about 10 or 15 - have looked at the cover as they walked by with various mixtures of intrigue, curiosity and discomfort.
I will see if I can sneak a copy into the barber shop before I go home today.

It occurs to me that someone should go back to that "wee" fellow and rub this in his face.
That and you have both a comma and a period after "Unauthorized reproduction encouraged."

Fuck yeah. If I think I can spare the ink, I think I'll print some out and take them up to my cousin's and have her leave one in her staff lounge at Costco. Take a couple more to the Xmas party I'm going to tomorrow.

I will take a stab at it. Work is going to be kinda slow for the rest of the month, AND, I'm taking some time off the week of Xmas and New Year's Eve. This means of course, I'm not promising any results until January. If someone thinks they can produce something earlier, let them speak now, otherwise, I'm ready to move forward, look for a new thread.
What are you considering as a theme?
/keyboard at the ready
I initially thought of doing a Shrapnel-themed one, but with the new buzz of a BIP 3.0 including Shrapnel stuff, it may be better to go in a different direction. I'm essentially volunteering my services as organizer and assembler, but I would open up to the floor the discussion of what the theme for the next one should be.
Well excreted Vex.
Love the slapdash style.
Hmm... I'd be interested in seeing an issue themed around communication stuff -- mindfucks, memebombs, etc. Maybe it could be a meta-issue, like "how to do an issue of intermittens" except done entirely differently at the same time. But maybe that's too subtle, and we should just have a bunch of pages of horses doing unmentionable things to animated anthro rabbit children and moustacio'd men yelling things that are not kosher.
I haven't read this issue yet, but I plan to. If it's total crap, I fully intend to spam you spags with essays on why none of you are real, the government doesn't exist, cats are better than dogs, all horses have infinite legs, no essays can ever be written, batteries are powered by souls and gish magic, and 4chan is the planet's only hope against the mooninite invasion. And if that doesn't work, then I'll just be annoying until I get bored. I hope it doesn't come to that.

So are you throwing your hat in the ring for #4?
Maybe. Exams just finished and if I don't fail epically I probably should have some time. I have a decent cache of documents that I'm submitting and such. I have to warn you, though: I'm worse with a word processor than I am with the GIMP. There's a reason why I write my essays in handcrufted html.
Bump! These should be stickied somewhere. Cunt to find :argh!:
Erm, unless there's something strange going on at my end, the links seem to be busted for Intermittens 2.

Issue #2 was featured on Scribd's Hot List yesterday. I don't know if anyone actually pays attention to the Hot List though.
Still, 157 views and 20 downloads aint exactly shabby.

I put up a copy, but I'm not sure which version it is. Have a look:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/8085216/InterMittens-Vol-1
Nope, that's 1.0..
Issue 1.2.3 is here: http://blackironprison.com/index.php?title=Intermittens
http://www.principiadiscordia.com/intermittens/InterMittens_01.23_loRes.pdf
I wonder if you can do a file-replace @ scribd, haven't used it yet.
Couldn't replace so I just uploaded version 1.23. I'll leave both versions up just in case future generations are curious.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/13236803/InterMittens-vol-0123
Thanks Iason!
Also, I started a moderated group on Scribd to serve as the central Intermittens Hub. I'll make you and Cram Admin, as well as any of the editors of the issues.

Oh, while I have your attention --
this is from the magcloud website -
PDF Specs:
*Page size: 8.25″ wide by 10.75″ tall
*Additional bleed: 0.125″ on top and bottom edges, 0.25″ on the outside edge, no bleed on the inside edge
*Resolution and format of images: 300 dpi, JPEG recommended.
*Pages: Save as multi-page PDF, no spreads. Multiples of 4 (4, 8, 12, etc.) up to 60 pages.
*Printers marks: None.
*The bottom 4″ of the back cover are reserved for a MagCloud shipping label that has a white background (example coming). The shipping label is not applied in the case of bulk orders, in which case your default content will appear.
*Maximum size: 100 MB
If you use Adobe® InDesign, here's a template (.zip of a .indd file) to help you get started. Export as "High Quality Print". On the "Marks and Bleeds" pane, make sure all printers marks are off, and "Use Document Bleed Settings" is checked.
For advanced users, we also have an ICC Profile to help you soft proof your document for the HP Indigo press.
They also have an .indd template I can pass you if you'd like.
