Title: Val's Art
Post by: Valerie - Gone on January 31, 2009, 05:45:36 PM
Finally decided to show off some of my art. None of it's terribly recent but... Tell me what you think.

Practicing anime using a How-to-Draw book.

Playing around in MSPaint, practicing anime eyes.

First time I used my micron pens. This was during my abstract phase.

Playing around in photoshop during class.

Didn't draw this one, but I colored it. I like coloring stuff.

Not really sure what this is. I used a Yu-Gi-Oh! card as a reference for the girl.

Another abstract. Used a different Yu-Gi-Oh! card as a reference for the hand, which I am rather proud of.

And last, but not least, my final art project for... Freshmen or Sophmore year. Can't remember. This is where my userpic came from.

I was going to just put the images in here, but they were pretty big, so...

Imagination and abstract is the way to go. I Like the bold use of colors(my weakspot).
There are few things that might help you improve. When coloring try not to press so much and stroke somewhat against the outline or shape. Take your time, blend the colors into each other more and try to bring out the shape. That curve in the left wing on the last picture looks really good.

Yeah, I should, too. I only ever sketch anymore. I've been wanting to do something more, though...

Here's something I colored digitally. Didn't actually draw it. Looking at it now, I realize that I should've blended some of those colors better. *shrug* I'll keep that in mind for next time.

I'm trying to draw... fashion sketches for mah sewing.

Valerie, I think the coloring turned out well for the drawing. I like bold bright colors!

I've done a few fashion sketches. Not very good ones. And not for sewing. I wanted to be a fashion designer at one point. I've since grown up.

Which drawing?

This one you said you colored digitally, I liked the coloring.

Edit to add, My friend was trying to show me how to do fashion sketching a while back. I should catch up with her and make her show me some more. I wold just like to be able to make good looking representations of the things I want to sew. Right now they look very silly and when I revisit them I have no idea what I was trying to show.  :?
