Title: Rev Roger, Sermon #62: Sticking Apart Until We All Get Eaten.
Post by: The Good Reverend Roger on March 24, 2009, 12:09:57 AM
Looking at the news today, it seems that Senator Christopher Dodd (D-AIG) not only inserted the language in the bailout bill that allowed bonus payments to the corrupt fuckers at AIG that took our money, but he was also very well paid to do so.  It turns out that the first bailout money - the $350 Bn that the banks "didn't have to tell us about" - included some very sizable donations...the largest of which went to Senator Dodd.

This is the face of AmericaTM today.  This is the ass-pounding, pillow-biting reality that you live in as I type these words.

And what, may I ask, do you plan to do about it?  Don't bother, I already know.  You're going to come to PD.com and rip on each other.  You're going to play stupid games with each others' heads, because you have STRAYED FROM THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS!  When was the last time you kicked out one of the wedges holding this whole corrupt mess up?  When was the last time you made an ass out of one of the people fucking you?  When was the last time you even wrote a horrible letter to your elected masters and explained their parentage to them?  In short, WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WERE A FUCKING FUNCTIONAL DISCORDIAN?

I can hear some of you now..."I don't have to be political to be a Discordian!  I just have to <insert pinealist bullshit here>!"

Well, you're fucking WRONG.  Why are you wrong?  For two very good reasons:

1.  I said so, and I'm a Beautiful Fairy Princess.  Are you going to doubt the Beautiful Fairy Princess?  I didn't fucking think so.

2.  If you don't do something, if WE don't do something, then the fun has stopped forever.  This ain't Nixon pulling funny business with an election, or Clinton getting a blowjob with fat young interns.  No, this is a mess that will basically result in you becoming an industrial serf, the likes of which we haven't seen since 1904 or so.  Yes, it's REALLY THAT BAD, and NO, IT ISN'T GOING TO GET BETTER.

We have one thing going for us that we didn't have a few years back when we re-started all this nonsense.  Numbers.  As I've said before, one termite won't do a damn thing, but a bunch of them will fuck your house up, and you can't see it happening.  Now, as much as I hate to reference a RAW work, what this nation needs is a few hundred (or thousand) Markoff Chaneys, adding a random factor to the system that they can neither SEE nor COUNTER.

What do I mean by this?  I don't mean "go blow up a police station".  I - and others - have repeatedly stated that fighting The Machine on it's own terms is worse than useless.  That sort of thing only makes them stronger...You'll be just another "domestic terrorist" they can use to scare the hell out of the populace.  No, instead of fear, what we need is a general sense of unease.  Let them know something is going on, something they can SEE, but not be able to put a finger on.  One pebble can start an avalanche (but it's better for that pebble to be out of the way when the fun starts), and who is that pebble going to be?  Randy "Macho Man" Savage, of course...but if he's busy, we may have to step in and lend a hand.

Or you can just say "okay", then never actually DO it, because you're too busy here playing the biscuit game until you pass out from each other's poisonous and diseased effluent, while patting yourselves on the back because, hey, at least you're not like those spags over at 23AE.  For fucks sake, even the 4Chan/Anonymous guys went out and DID something (even if their target was just the losers at Scientology).  Are you going to be out-pranked by ANONYMOUS?

If you are, just say so.  Just admit that this is all just a way to pass the time on PD, talking about things instead of doing them (And don't give me that KYFMS bullshit, if all of us did ANYTHING, we'd KNOW).  Just admit it, and I will put you on the itinerary for a late night visit with myself, Hat, Von Melee, Faithless, and the rest of the Tucson crew.  We will be equipped with ball gags and extra pull-start powered genitals which drip with the horrible shit we have contracted from the various diseased wildlife on our wilder nights.  And we shall know no mercy.

Lifeboat rules are in effect...To quote the great philosopher from Texas, "You're either with us or against us".  The times are too dire for anything else, and "sticking apart" is no longer an option, except for purposes of camouflage (with the notable exception of Dead Kennedy, who can choke on a dick).

Get your rage on, or DIE.

Or Kill Me.

Roger, I missed your rants. I have not done shit in the mist of all this except get the word out. Everyone I know understands my rage of what has taken place. I read the news every day, I voice my opinion, maybe not to the masses but I do to people I know who may not understand what is happening. Where I live the news is something no one sees, everyone is wrapped up in reality tv and the melting of there own brains to understand what is going on and they don't care. On the plus side I have got people angry for the first time since the clusterfuck happened. I may live in a place where the average IQ is lower then George Bush's but I will continue to educate and do what I can.

HELL YEAH

I'm doing what I can with pretty limited resources and connections. My congregation is still quite small, but there are plans to grow.

Building your local Cabal(s) is the first and most important step.  I've had some success in that area, and if anyone wants any pointers, I can start a manual (add-ons by others will be more than welcome).

all I've done is posted a few rants here and there
and they get buried due to their suckiness and drama

I still haven't found something that more or less me... for example tried the trolling thing a few years ago but it became very evident I just couldn't go for the jugular, even against the most hateful blabbering idiot
I have a lot of plans this summer of journeys to some pretty remote places and adventures planned provided i get a few contracts for monies... i probably will document everything I see, feel, do, still don't know how yet... Its an idea that's more or less me, and maybe possible show the strangeness and uniqueness of what life is and not what we're told life is

well Im jabbering in coherently now

If you lack funds and/or time, stickers are the way to go.  8.5X11 crack and peel paper (for laser or inkjet) costs about $0.60 per sheet at your local office supply shop, and a pack of 12 sheets can lead to hours and hours of fun.

I just want people to understand and get angry at what is happening, and not just throw it aside like it'll pass who cares. My rants do well and some people throw it off as I should be a comedian. If I can inform the masses and get them pissed and you can help I am all ears.

I wanna get a panel like on Larry King and have a show but I couldn't find enough people with 2 brain cells to rub together.

Nobody is asking you to talk politics.  What we SHOULD be doing is FUCKING politics.  Right in it's puckered up little bunghole.  With a 30" strap-on with weird attachments.  And a chainsaw.

Notice the subtle yet crucial distinction.

I've been busy networking my ass off in the past months. We're still small, but constantly grow(l)ing.

Thanks for reminding me to use the entirety of my daily assortment of sticks to throw in between the cogwheels. And make others throw theirs too instead of just chewing on them like a bunch of drugged up dogs.

Also: I love stickers, they are cheap, easy to apply in public spots with camera surveillance and give a lot of creative freedom (choice of message and location).

Talk about having priority's in line. But with as angry I am at these dumbasses I will join in the fight.

Make sure to leave time for schooling, though.  The difference in ability to fund pranks, for example (and get away with them) is much different if you make, say, $60K/year rather than $20K.  Also, not spending your life eating Ramen 3 meals a day is also a plus.

Comic shops and books stores are good to. If you want body's with lack of brain you can always hit hot topic :vom:
I prefer Barnes and noble though.

even though I still find talking politics to be 99.9% super-wankery.

Nobody is asking you to talk politics.  What we SHOULD be doing is FUCKING politics.  Right in it's puckered up little bunghole.  With a 30" strap-on with weird attachments.  And a chainsaw.

Notice the subtle yet crucial distinction.

& the rest is commentary.

That's all you can do.

Other than fuck with people nonstop, of course.

If you are looking for ideas, we have those in plenty.  Just ask.

Oh, suggestions we have.  I plan to pull something together by Wednesday night.  Check here Thursday.  I will be posting it in OMF.

I will see if I can pull my brain out of this damn book and get something. I am posting on forums when I got a book to read, a report to write, 3 chapters to read and 6 questions to answer, oh and a journal to finish all before midnight Wednesday.

College is a a great place to leave stuff laying around though. I never have any more because of college but when I am in a lab I just set the printer to do fifty or so pages and as I am walking around I leave little stacks of them around the place. Doesn't require much effort at all.

Manual = BRILLIANT IDEA

I can afford to shed some of my paranoia when I transfer to the bigger campus. News and rumors travel too damn fast here, and besides, the main campus has Communists, atheists, and Christian groups. How can I not have fun?

@faust and Cainad:  College, break rooms at corporate (!) institutions, bathrooms (public and non)...shit, I've been leaving stuff under telephone polls sometimes.

I also hand it out more often than not to people with better access to the above.  Costco has seen ALOT of our shit lately.  :lulz:

I keep forgetting to share this, but yeah, I've been going viral now for about...oh, 6 mos?

That rules.

I put stuff on the bulletin boards around campus, and there are clear plastic sleeves on the inside of bathroom stall doors in the dorms that are used for informative flyers the school posts. Obviously, the school's intended message tends to get subverted.

Also, 40 pages a day of free (albeit black & white) printing from the computer lab is nice.

Possibly an aside, but from my reading on the topic, Sen. Dodd was forced to table that ammendment by the Treasury, in particular Tim Geithner (Rep. for Goldman Sachs) and Larry Summers (Rep. for Citigroup) and the White House (Obama's election was financed by AIG) over his personal objections.  The Treasury then leaked he was responsible, to deflect blame.

Monkeywrenching, on the other hand, should take a two-pronged approach:

On the most basic level, there is good, old fashioned, plain disruption.  This is the phyiscal end of things.  I would especially suggest attempting to target elements benefitting from the bailout.  Since those are not immediately available, the next step down is to consider how to cause disruption to things they are reliant on, related to or otherwise have to deal with.  You know a bar or coffee shop where many of the regional branch managers go for drinks?  Bribe someone there to spike their drinks with laxative (for example).  Get the work numbers of these people, and call in increasingly disturbed messages (note: do not threaten them, or the law will come down on you.  Make it somewhat surreal, yet worrying  to listen to).  Varations on the wingnut trick are always good, especially if you have several people.  Finally, I would highly suggest reverse engineering three particular books and distributing them as much as possible: The OSS Simple Sabotage Manual, The Nicuragua Freedom Fighter's Manual (an updated, graphic version of this would be wonderful) and Monkeywrenching, originally an animal rights activist book, which nontheless contains useful operational material and suggestions.

Secondly, however, the disruption has to take place on an ideological level.  People are pissed off, they are angry, but they don't know what to do about it.  They see no alternative to what is currently going on.  In short, they need to be provided credible alternatives (Note: 'going Galt' or allowing the collapse of the financial system in toto is not credible) to the currently existing hegemonic ideology.  So long as people mistake other interests for their own, they will not agree with your above actions and may even work against you. It is no coincidence that places with more Anarchist, Marxists and other forms of radical politics, such as Greece, had more in the way of protests than other countries.  Note: I am not saying we should all go out and preach Marxism or Anarchism, only that these are examples of alternatives that people get involved with and motivated them against current events.

How do we break the control over the public's thinking?  I'm not sure.  Things like Matt Taibbi's article seems to work better on educated people whereas populism may be the better option with people not as well versed in understanding the economic system.  Equally, we should consider the possibility of a metapolitical strategy, as could be aided by the development of the IdeologyTropes project, if anyone actually bothers to contribute (I am as guilty of this as anyone, though I at least helped try to get support for the idea).

More later.

Try to not stick apart, living in the middle of nowhere. :|

Anyway, Roger & Cain own.

I've been translating a shitload of BIP ideas and common Think For Yourself Propaganda to the finfags and spread them all around the country, both IRL and at the interwebs.

I once found a copy of one of my pamphlets in a train, and that was possibly one of the sweetest moments in my life.

I'm still trying to spread the BIP-Rock to the masses.

As a positive step forward, I may be close to getting the music going live as well as just online.

My contribution has been working some of the basic philosophy behind BIP into my IRL work with teenagers and in prevention in general.  The whole "Think For Yourself, Schmuck" idea is very translatable when it comes to talking to kids about peer pressure and related topics.  I obviously don't literally mention the BIP, but the same basic idea is there.

Roger that was inspiring!!  :mittens:

Time to rally the troops and get to work.  I look forward to a pamphlet, I think we all get stuck sometimes.

Most of what I do, I got the ideas from here at PD.

As a charter member of the broker than broke club.  What we do is cheap.  Stickers everywhere we go.  I use the 5160s and the template that I downloaded from PD.  I keep a couple of sheets on my bag and my oldest has a bunch in his backpack.  We leave them all over the city.  Leaving pages in bookstore and library books.  I use the "Freedom Isn't Free" a lot. We do an EggGasm every year.  Hide them around. Everything has the BIP web address on it.

I'm lucky, we are in the middle of St Louis Univ, Harris Stowe Univ., Washinton Univ., Southern Illinois Univ., Webster Univ.  So we can hit 3 or 4 campuses in a boring weekend.

I also have been in on a few protests, but I have to be careful.  If I get arrested, they will take my kids, so I can't go to some I would really like to just because I know they will get insane.

Its an idea that's more or less me, and maybe possible show the strangeness and uniqueness of what life is and not what we're told life is

well Im jabbering in coherently now
time for crackers and peanut butter
:)

If you lack funds and/or time, stickers are the way to go.  8.5X11 crack and peel paper (for laser or inkjet) costs about $0.60 per sheet at your local office supply shop, and a pack of 12 sheets can lead to hours and hours of fun.

This I can do. :)

Activities in operation at my camp -

     - expansion of gardening beds

     - raising chickens. maybe a goat.

     - moving ahead on the "Archie's Bunker" album recording  http://www.myspace.com/romulusremusoutpostvinlandia

     - taking copious notes while watching  "Peewee's Playhouse"

     - RUNE alphabet stickers for the kids to have in hand everywhere we go - they enjoy tagging cars, people, items (fruit, candle holders, etc) walls, doorways, etc.

     - making sure a copy of the BIP is next to the toilet at all times

In theory, yes.  However:

1) He's a Democrat.  He'd have to find someone willing to hire him a spine if he was even considering standing up to Obama's financial golden boys.
2) Dodd is highly vulnerable, politically, right now and was before the current scam due to past involvement with said banks.  Throwing him to the wolves would cost Obama little, and probably even improve his ratings, meaning the White House has him over a barrel.

This NYT article (http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/17/outcry-builds-for-recovery-of-aig-bonuses/?scp=1&sq=David%20Herszenhorn&st=cse) is especially enlightening:

QuoteBut Mr. Reid mostly ducked a question about whether Democrats had missed an opportunity to prevent the bonuses because of a clause in the stimulus bill, that imposed limits on executive compensation and bonuses but made an exception for pre-existing employment contracts. Senator Christopher J. Dodd, Democrat of Connecticut, who initially proposed adding executive compensation and bonus limits to the stimulus bill, did not include the exception.

So he's a whore, yes, but by proxy.  He's a human shield for the inside dealers running the Treasury, the ones who cannot remember if their loyalty is towards the stability of the international financial system and the USA, or towards Goldman Sach's bank balance.
