I'm heading over to your continent next week and am after some suggestions of things I should check out.
I'll be spending the majority of my time on the East coast of the US, and in Toronto, though my plans have a habit of changing rather abruptly, so suggestions for anywhere are welcome :)
you get lost and end up in Maine, let me know.
Come to Rhode Island.
We have amazing bands here.
Also, are you driving? Train? Bus? That makes a difference.
You going to be anywhere more specific than the "east coast"?

I don't drive, so unless I randomly find myself on a road trip it'll be buses and trains for me.

Uh, well at the moment my plans are land in NY, hang out at Colgate college for a couple of weeks, then go up to Toronto (where I'm going to uni), apart from that not sure.
Come to Boston, MA.
Walk the Freedom Trail (http://www.thefreedomtrail.org/) backwards and see how the fledgling democratic republic of The United States of America is overrun and turned into a colony of the British Empire.
:lulz:
Hamilton, NY, which is out by Utica and Syracuse. Nice enough place, a few hours away from Adirondack Park (biggest preserve in the US, and a nice place to visit in summer if you've got plenty of bug repellent), but I dunno who's nearby.

You can get a pass for the Regional I believe, anywhere from Newport News, VA to Boston.
Colgate? Cool!
If you wanna come have beers and bowls in Yonkers, you're welcome to truck out. It'd be cool to meetcha. From Grand Central, you can get to my place by the Harlem line. We should have shenanigans!
ECH: Thanks, not sure I'll be going to Maine, but I never really have plans anyway, so if I find myself there I'll give you a shout.
Suu: I'll probably end up in RI as I know someone there who will kill me if I don't go visit her.
Cram: I'll be in NY on Saturday, so if you're free it'd be great to hang out.
Also, I guess I should point out that I'm only 19, so the draconian laws of the US don't let me enjoy a fine brew.

And you're going to be here for a HURRICANE! How fucking awesome is that?!

Heh, our weather is too boring.
There's a crapload of stuff to do here in Toronto, so it really depends upon what you're into. What are you into?
Music, coffee, art, wine, being a pretentious git, climbing stuff
Also I'll be in toronto for about four months, so I'll get to do a lot of stuff I guess
I'll go ahead and send you my cellophone number. If you have a free day in which you don't want to spend with your friend that you know here in RI and would rather check out the state (I can show you the whole thing in a day or two) with a bunch of strangers from the internets, let me know.
ESPECIALLY with the hurricane. General Stuart and I are already planning out excursion to the southern shoreline to watch it come in, chowder and doughboys in hand. A day in Newport wouldn't be bad either. We could make fun of the pretentious fucks, eat sweet potato fries at the Red Parrot and I can show you some historical shit. We have a lot of historical shit (The oldest tavern in the US is in Newport and there's some nifty shit in Providence too). So if you are interested, let me know.
Cool, not sure if I'll go to RI early or later in my trip, but when I do go that way I'll give you a bit of a heads up.
Which uni are you going to? Dependent upon where you'll be staying, I'd recommend exploring this rough rectangle (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=104453366586997401485.0004716cb37f4532b89e5&ll=43.649429,-79.413815&spn=0.022762,0.03283&z=15).
Awesome thanks, I'm going to UoT, and staying about two blocks from that rectangle :D

Well, it's something.
Here they give you scabies.

It's shit like this that makes me believe I
must go to Arizona.
In a bizarre game of one-upmanship, I'd have to spend 41 days and nights in the desert.
its a freaky place. bits of it look like Mars.
Payne if you could spend 41 days in AZ I'd call you a messiah..
also can you punch my ex husband? Obviously for not being Scottish.
Bump,
do we have any spags in Montreal? I want to know what there is to do there?
Your avatar makes me want mango chutney!
And that isn't even a jar of chutney!
Damn you!
good, that is step one complete

Bio-dome. Casino. Strip bars. A bunch of french spags.
If you're gonna be in Toronto during December let me know, I'm planning on going up there at the end of the year.
Yeah, I should be here for most of December, towards the end I'm not certain though. But I'll just wait and see I guess.
Also, I've been checking out a couple of things on that map Fictionpuss, thanks again for it.
You should still come to Rhode Island. I can show you where you can get deep-fried clams and dough even in the wintertime!

No worries, glad you're having a good time! If you've befriended any locals they most likely have better info - I'm about 2-3 years out of date.

Truth ITT
had some the other day, looks disgusting, tastes good.
If you feel like you are enjoying yourself too much, come on up/down to Michigan and I will show you around.
OI! SUU!
And other swamp Yankees.
I'm coming down to New England in November, so if you spags want to catch up or give me an idea of what to see, that'd be cool.
At the moment the plan is to fly into Boston on the 10th and leave on the 15th. And just hang around Boston and Rhode Island.

Well, if you get anywhere near Terrell, Texas, we have a fascinating collection of Baptist churches and liquor stores. :D

Awesome!
Too bad you're coming in on a Tuesday though, because I have Mondays off. We could have gone to Newport and made fun of rich people!
However, the 14th is The Great International BeerFest here in Providence if you'd like to join the General and I in an afternoon excuse to get shitfaced.
