QuoteFuck you. No, I'm not joking. I'm sick of this bullshit.
I'm sick of the way you've corrupted the public discourse. The way you've made it acceptable to hurl any insult you like at public officials. The way you blame us for the current atmosphere of hatred by accusing us of starting it with hating Bush. Like Bush didn't come on the heels of eight years of your tireless efforts to destroy Clinton by any means necessary, like Bush didn't give us good reason to complain. A couple of posters on a website compared Bush to Hitler and you've used it as free license to compare Obama to Hitler 24/7 and I'm sick of your hypocrisy, where it's acceptable to say shit about Obama that you would have had an apoplectic fit (and did) if anything remotely similar had been said about your guys. Keith Olbermann calls Cheney a fascist when he was actually using fascist tactics and you think that gives you the freedom to call Obama a fascist, socialist, Marxist constantly for no reason at all. Fuck you and your bullshit false equivalency.
I'm sick of the way you've made the populace stupid. Around a fifth of your populace thinks the sun orbits the earth, over half think evolution never happened. Your populace actually believe the media has a liberal bias. Not because it has, you have the most conservative media in the free world, but because you've shouted it so loud and so often that you've brainwashed the public into believing it, like the battered wife who parrots her husband's insults. You've got a whole segment of the populace shouting about socialism and fascism and none of them know what the fucking words mean. You've convinced them that fascism is a left-wing thing. You've got them so turned around that some of them actually believe global warming isn't happening. Fuck you.
I'm sick of the way you try to destroy the whole concept of government. You've tricked the people into believing that government can't do anything right, always being careful to exclude the army because you love your bullets and bombs but you've so destroyed the public's ability to reason that they don't even think of interstate highways, the space program, the national parks program, etc. Government is always great when it's doing what you tell it and inevitably corrupt when it isn't. Fuck you.
I'm sick of your rewriting of history. You've bleated so loud and long that Reagan was a great president, that the New Deal didn't work, that cutting taxes increases revenues, that you actually have the people believing this bullshit. And these are the same people who will go on to become teachers and fill their student's heads with this self-same bullshit. Reagan was a mediocre president at best who had the good fortune to be in power when the USSR collapsed under it's own weight and you bastards have turned him into the Second Coming. You've rewritten history so that everything foul and hateful and wrong can be attributed to a Democrat while everything worthwhile is a Republican's glory. Fuck you.
I'm sick of your dragging the center ever further to the right. How many whackjob fringe ideas have you dragged into the mainstream? The aforementioned idea that tax cuts increase revenues, the Laffer Curve, the idea that Welfare harms the poor, the idea that there's rampant fraud in Welfare, the idea that whatever is good for corporations is good for the country. And you push these ideas through your corporate media and you do it so long and loud that they become part of the accepted political landscape and because it is easier to tell a lie than to debunk one, we never get away from this rancid shit. Fuck you.
I'm sick of your casual criminality. Teddy Kennedy, a man who's boots you were not worthy to lick, was just buried and all I've heard from my rightist friends for days is Chappaquiddick, Chappaquiddick, Chappaquiddick. Your fucking golden boy raped the Constitution, mainly because he wanted to; tortured random people (and waterboarding is torture, fuck you too) essentially because he wanted to; spent like a drunken sailor, essentially because he wanted to; invaded a sovereign nation, essentially for the loot and destroyed people's lives, essentially for the evilulz and you bastards are obsessed with a fucking accident a Democrat had decades ago? You don't go on about Laura Bush killing some guy decades ago. Fuck you.
I'm sick of you praising pure evil. You're letting Dick Cheney be the standard-bearer for Republicanism. Dick Cheney, a man so nakedly evil that even his friends call him "Darth"; a man so callous that Lex Luthor would recoil in terror; a man who probably has dismembered hitchhikers in those man-sized safes and kills plants by his mere proximity. Fuck you.
I'm sick of your attempts to tilt the playing field permanently in your favor. Democrats filibustered a few of Bush's most hateful judicial picks and you pricks started screaming about doing away with the filibuster but now you're in the minority, you're filibustering absolutely everything you can and whining when you don't get the chance. You ignored everything the Democrats had to say when you had power and now that you don't, you scream that everyone must be bipartisan. You don't budge a fucking inch on anything but you insist that everyone must compromise to meet you. That's your idea of politics: Don't move an inch, force the other guy to come to the right to meet you and call the result a "compromise". Fuck you.
I'm sick of your corporatism. You dress it up in false populism but anyone with half a brain can see that you're the brought and paid for subsidiary of big business. You keep pushing tax cuts as the answer for absolutely everything, you keep sabotaging every attempt to control the excesses of big business. You genuinely think the world would be a better place if it was a combination of Bill Gibson's dystopian vision of a corporate dominated world and Ayn Rand's bullshit Objectivism, yet another entry in mankind's endless attempts to find a moral justification for naked greed. You've taken the clinically insane spewings of a woman literally to the right of Hitler (pardon my Godwins) and the 1984-like vision of a dystopian author and convinced yourselves that would be a good place to live. Big business is the enemy of the people, always has been. The ideal for the corporate class is to have a small pool of people rich enough to buy their fucking crap and a much larger pool of people so poor and with so few options that they can be used and abused at the corporation's whim. A corporation's objective is not to look after you, it is to make ever-larger profits by any means necessary. You bastards want to reinstate fucking slavery to the corporate class and you've made the public so fucking stupid that they actually swallow the bullshit you're serving up, they actually want to enslave themselves to the corporations that abuse them at every turn. They actually care more about the corporations right to make obscene profits than they care about their child's right to live on a habitable planet. Fuck you.
Fuck you, you scumridden shitehawks, you make me sick. Just fuck off and die.
But here's the thing: Did they CREATE or just EXPOSE?
The sheeple are so very easily led, but they often show true colors in times of trial.
I posted that for no reason other than a chuckle.
"but of course"

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWW
goddamnit does this guy continue whining like this for the rest of this text?
I mean sure he's right kind of, but going going all WHAAAAAAAAAAAAA and BAWWWWWWWWWW and BOOHOOHOO about it is just going to make you look like a pathetic little whining poopiehead.
Also, positioning yourself diametrically opposed to whoever you are BAWWWWing against, while taking the weaker position ("you're making me sick"), is gonna make the other party kick back and make you LOSE. Push from the side, not at the front.
All the progressive Dems know how to do is whine about how mean and irrational the Republicans are. I mean, they are nasty and irrational, no doubt. But whining about it just appears to them as weakness, and makes them contemptuous of you, as well as achieving nothing.
The only people who seem to understand what is going on is:
A few people at DailyKos (as much as it pains me to admit they're right about anything).
The better comedy bloggers (such as SadlyNo, The Poor Man Institute etc...who must by necessity deal with the seedy underworld of wingnuttia on a regular basis).
Matt Taibbi
The Stiftung Dr Leo Strauss
David Niewert
The Blue Dogs think they can play the Republicans against the Progressives against the monied interests that own them, and that situation will stay stable forever. Some of them, like Rahm Emmanuel, have the necessary "fuck you, you're irrelevant" attitude, but their positioning is poor and betrays a weakness, namely that they can be bought (and frequently are). Then you have the Bi-Partisan "national unity crowd", doing the best impersonation of a doomed leadership since Alexander Kerensky. The Progs are obsessed with rational debate, even with people who would gleefully see them in a concentration camp - or dead.
Quite frankly, their vapid stupidity and inability to get to grips with the psychodynamic heart of Movement Conservatism means they deserve to be run out of power, and crushed forever by the coalition of Baby Jebus freaks, racists, conspiracy theorists and wannabe philosopher kings. Its their just punishment for idiocy, lacking a spine and having the ability to do something about it all but pissing it away whenever they are given a chance.

FUCK YEAH! I couldn't even read past the first paragraph of the OP...
Also, I love it when you make the Kerensky comparisons, it just seems to be be apt.
I don't know, I really liked the "Fuck you" and "Fuck off and die" parts.
Sometimes the best medicine is a loud "FUCK YOU, FUCK ALL OF YOU FUCKERS". Feels real nice, gets the blood pumping.

Truth.
I have to agree.
Also screaming about all the different things you will "fuck" to the fuckers
"I will fuck your fucking coffee and then rape your fucking stapler you fucking fuck!!!!"

stapler rape sounds like quite a pyrrhic victory....
I just realized that when I say rape and fuck I usually mean "smash with sledgehammer"
Hmm.
the republicans depress me
but I'm much more depressed by the two-americas that this country is RAPIDLY morphing into
I didn't know whether I lived in a red or blue state until the late 90s. Now there are parts of the country I wouldn't want to travel to because of how alientated I'd feel by their dominant political landscape. (whenever my GF visits florida, for example, everybody gives her tons of shit for being from new york. also, they think that the NY accent sounds pretentious and faggy)
I think we should run a SAVE THE REPUBLICANS campaign
same sympathetic tactics that were present at the scifag protest - view this information campaign as an attempt to snap people out of brainwashing
it's not that republicans are idiots. Most of them, like the democrats, are just regurgitating talking points that resonated with them
it's that the media which informs them spews such moronic emotive talking points
but the left wing creep is happening too, they're drifting far out there. my man Jon Stewart is an excellent satirist, but they do become a news source for many people, which is sketchy because their agenda is so tightly interwoven with the presentation. It's manipulative in a more acceptable way
The way I see it,
if Obama represents something awful that will destroy this country
that something is probably corporate america
if you had to vote for which you want running the country, which would you pick?
Corporate America or the Far Right?
eew
The problem is the Republicans don't want to be saved.
A viable two party system where at least both of those major parties is devoted to preserving liberal democracy is most likely to produce a mostly stable outcome (putting aside massive sweeping changes into Communism, Anarchism etc for the moment), and for that reason alone, I think the Republicans should be rehabilitated back into liberal conservatism.
But the crazy wing is now the party. The Party is the Movement and the Movement is the Party. There are no incentives for the non-crazies to fight against them - they end up losing funds, being shunned by other crazies in the party (party discipline among public office holding Republicans is incredible, mainly because of the damage that can be done to dissenters) and suffering challenges from people further to the right. So they either shut up or jump ship to the Democrats, who are moving increasingly towards the centre-right anyway.
I think the media is part of the problem, but it is more than that. The Stiftung Leo Strauss suggests it is, in part, because of the success of the Neocons as memetic engineers. They come up with colorful catchphrases which bypass rational thinking and engage directly at the emotional level. And their memetic presence is powerful, housed as they are among the media, think tanks and government agencies.
That doesn't entirely convince me, though. While the mix of Neoconservative media manipulation skills, intertwined with Nativist shrieking and radical Christian dreams of dominion shows the basic factions at play among the right, it doesn't explain how they came into being, the funding, how they build up support so much and why their followers are, thus far, apparently innoculated against any attempts to break their worldview into something closer approximating reality.
I would agree corporate America is also a threat, and that Obama generally fronts for them, though he has odd moments of independence. The problem is, corporate America and the funding of the far-right also intertwine, at certain levels. The Heritage Foundation doesn't just print its own money, and Richard M Scaife didn't just suddenly appear as a billionaire with a crazy agenda. The Koch brothers play every side against the middle, but inevitably fall down on the far-right when push comes to shove (like funding the Teabagger protests) and Bush, Cheney et al were all well financed by the Texas oil elite. There are...economic interests in keeping people dispossessed, worried about Jesus, in perpetual foreign war and wary of non-white, non-Christian people. In the long term, such positions are untenable, but who gives a fuck about long term profits and viability anymore? And the actions undertaken to create such conditions...well, we all know who profits from war, the security state, Baby Jebus propaganda shoved down the throats of every schoolchild.
The left will whine and support the Democrats, as they continue to play their pro-corporatist, and slightly less socially offensive game, in comparison to the Republicans. As for the Movement...its been brushing up against Phalangism for the past 16 years, but never has the lack of controls over the crazies been so evident. This summer was a trial run, using the teabaggers and birthers to test how quickly grassroots resistance could be mobilized, and to socialise elements of opposition to Obama to each other (there was also several successful attempts at infiltration at the organizational level by Stormfront posters, but lets ignore that for the moment - like the rest of the media). Now the townhall summer of crazy is over, we get to see what the Movement will use its new, energized shock troops for next.
And every action reveals more of their agenda, more of their operational capabilities, and more of their resources and supporters.
Cain, plz to stop scaring the shit out of me
:scared:

Your rant about that is still jaw droppingly amazing to me.
Even if I'm still kinda siding with the auld Scottish bat you ran into. You're lucky she didn't bite your face off, btw.

This helps make my point:
QuoteThe magnitude of Obama's obsessive compulsion to flinch before political forces dedicated to his (and by extension, our) political execution is unexpected. From Putin to Bibi to Mitch McConnell to the Fox apparant, he has caved in measures large and small. Not just once. And like the proverbial weakling with low self esteem, Obama vents his anger and shame on those he can – his liberal and progressive base, and the independents who took a chance and 'hoped.'
As everyone knows, the Stiftung remained highly dubious that a 46 year old with two years in the Senate and no managerial experience at all has sufficient gravitas for this historical moment. Or put another way, he has not experienced enough national-level political combat to justify the absurdly high expectations pushed upon him, and which he passively aggressively courted. Hence, our moniker, 'Boy King' at the time.
For a brief moment we retired the nick name. Now, it seems insufficient.
Obama the man is the epitome so far of one who mistakes reading or talking about something with actually knowing or internalizing the experience of something. This we believe lies at the heart of Obama's foolish jump start of the Movement's unjustifiable resurgence. He does not 'get' active, real world nihilism.
Having spent decades in the bowels of the Movement we are not part of 'Obama's liberal Left [sic] base.' Nor are we wonks on health care policy. But we do know this: (i) the Movement savors flinching; and (ii) independents and others watching both the Movement and Obama will have another gut check on who is the stronger actor. That meta-political snapshot of strength will be the far more enduring and powerful emergent political truth than the technicalities of this bill or that one.
Obama demonstrates that he lacks the necessary internal strength to deal with the Movement, let alone assert a separate positive agenda. Democrats and the clueless commentariat in 2009 who remain willfully stupid deserve the political annihilation the Movement plans for them. Imagine, after Newt in Congress and 8 years of the Warlord, Alter can say this August that it's all an eye opener. 'It's amazing' to them — I think those were Alter's words — that the Movement disdains liberal democracy.
One can not engage in serious politics in the 21st Century with such people. The Movement plays for keeps. The Democrats just play. What remains unclear to us is whether the netroots writ large can rebuild a new Democratic Party from within fast enough. Or whether the whole rotten edifice needs toppling in favor of something new, unfettered with ghosts of mediocracies past.
The Stiftung's major interest is first preserving and then strengthening liberal democracy, knowing that the Movement only may be coaxed into mere participation at best, but does so with no fealty and a hunger to bring it all down. We do not carry here an ideological axe to grind on the current menu list of hot button issues. Our politics are perhaps best be described as classically liberal.
To all of our detriment America doesn't have a genuine 'Left' anymore (the word is our Emmanuel Goldstein as faux boogeyman). We leave reconstitution of a vibrant and healthy Left up to others. They have our best wishes. We worry whether Obama's weakness also will not bring down at least portions of the progressive movement vested in him. A week is a lifetime and all that. Still we hope they are self aware enough to know that they must jettison him when necessary despite the complicated emotions. Keep eyes on the prize.
All of us can't afford the Movement's return to actual power (as opposed to Obama's incredible gift now of letting the Movement govern by negative implication). We close by asking ourselves for the umpteenth time under the breath, 'Why are Democrats so stupid?'
