so I moved into my new place and all, and the gas stove was supposed to be working tonight, except that it isnt :evilmad:
fortunately, my oven is electric and I also have a 1.5L electrical waterboiler.
however, without a gas stove I feel kinda handicapped, so anyone got any suggestions what I should cook? as my gf is vegetarian, it should be vegetarian. otherwise I'd just get some pieces of meat and put them in an oven dish with some onions potatoes and garlic and shit.
Have you tried a vegetarian lasagna?
no, but to be honest, I don't really like lasagna :) I'll eat it, just don't think it's very interesting and hence have not much experience with making them :-)
maybe I'll just let the supermarket inspire me .. I'm going shopping in 20 minutes or so
Yeah, the only thing I'm good at cooking is meat or pasta. Sorry.
some sort of roasted meditteranean veg with some ciabatta, (kinds like bruchetta) (u can do all of these in the oven) if you have a kettle and a casserole dish, buy some miso, tofu seaweed and noodles and u can make soup in the mircrowave. and just soak noodles in boiling water.
Also maybe some kind of veggie pie.
hm sounds good :) though I have no microwave yet either :-/
anyway I ended up making some random oven dish with milk, eggs, pre-boiled potatoe slices, zuccini, bell pepper, carrot (soaked in some boiling water to soften it a bit), onion, garlic and cheese, lots of cheeeeeeeese :)
For future reference tuna casserole, mac&cheese, eggplant parmigiana, and potatoes au gratin are all great, easy oven dishes.
And if the lasagna you've had was bland, they did something wrong. I highly recommend making your own. Also I hate ricotta and usually substitute mashed tofu seasoned with lemon juice, fresh basil, salt and pepper. If you make a veggie lasagna they tend to be wet, so sautee the veggies first, remove them from the pan, and reduce the juices to add to the sauce. Also only cook the noodles for about 5 minutes or until pliant. A lot of people make the mistake of neither seasoning their ricotta (ugh, mushy bland mouthfulls, shudder!) nor their veggies. Season everything as if it were a separate dish, and it will all turn out delicious!
oh dont get me wrong, I have had some delicious lasagna :) it's just, I dunno, the idea of stuff (even really tasty stuff) layered with sheets of pasta from an oven just, I dunno, it bores the fuck out of me :)
You can always bake some chicken with tandoori spices. Use the waterboiler to make rice somehow?
PRE-MADE STORE BOUGHT PIZZA, CASE OF CRAPPY BEER.
TIA
MAKE A SANDWICH
Soup comes to mind.
Vegetarian Take Out
Funeral potatoes, or some other casserole type thing.
Many things, both yummy an sickening, can happen with an oven and cream of whatever soup.

Oh my god, yes. Cream of soup casseroles can be, and in fact usually are, horrifying. And delicious.

I must have blocked out the part about the gf being vegetarian.
I totally missed it the first time.

BACON :fap:
Three bites of Cream of Soup Casserole with bacon would be my caloric requirement for the WHOLE DAY.
Oh my god I can't wait until this ankle is healed enough that I run again so I can eat more than sushi and cucumber salad.
