Am I right thinking there was some silver-age superhero whose outfit was basically a suit, a mask, and a fedora?
Because if so, I've found my Halloween costume. Please to advise if such a character exists.
You might be thinking of The Spirit.

Ah, perhaps.
There was a crappy movie made recently, wasn't there?
There was yes.
Wasn't The Question just a coat and a fedora?
He had a no-face mask, I think. That would be kind of hard to do.
Meh. Flesh coloured stocking over the head should do the trick.

Chair-Head?
CHAIRFACE CHIPPENDALE
(from the Tick)
not what you asked for, but after seeing that costume in the second pic, I couldn't resist posting.
Dress up at Clark Kent, no one ever goes as Clark they all want to go as Superman.
You're thinking of Rorschach from Watchmen.

And I wouldn't do the costume. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too popular this year. Go with Chairface instead.
The Green Hornet.

DO CHAIRFACE! You will be awesome forever.
Actually, I was thinking of Green Hornet. Hmmmm. I gotta find more info.
No, I'm pretty sure you were thinking of Chairface.

There was, Frank Miller adapted it and gave it Sin City visuals. The Spirit was Will Eisner's take on superheroes, and given he didn't like superheroes he wasn't really a very good one. He was a detective with a stiff punch. The comic was fucking incredible.
I just downloaded the movie, from the reviews I didnt quite understand whether it was considered bad because the characters were two dimensional cardboard cutouts for reasons of being like over the top comic character hyperboles, or whether the movie was just simply bad.
Anyone can tell me whether I should just simply skip watching it, or whether I can get some enjoyment out of it from realizing the characters aren't supposed to have any depth?
(which was the main complaint about the movie, as far as I understand)
I'm pretty sure they aren't supposed to have depth in the movie.
At least, it seems like they actively tried to avoid it.

Which is funny because The Spirit did comic book depth about 30 years before Watchmen.
I enjoyed the movie just as an utterly absurd spoof of the film noir / vigilante superhero genre; haven't read The Spirit, though.
It's not Batman, if that's what you were wondering.
I was really bored with the spirit.
I scarlet johanson in a nazi uniform was hot as hell but thats only a small part of the film.
Well, I'll probably be going with the Green Hornet, anyway.
Although ScarJo in a Nazi uniform has it's appeal.
I
SWASTIKA
SCARLETT JOHANSON

Even more simple, the shadow!

Rejected due to the faggy cape/scarf combo, and because a Baldwin was involved in the movie.
i second the CHAIRFACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, think about it LMNO, you can go door to door and ask people to sit on your face. It would be like your dream come true, I think.
