QuoteWASHINGTON – The White House, key senators and media representatives have reached a compromise on legislation to protect reporters from being forced to disclose their confidential sources in federal court.
Senate supporters of the so-called media shield bill said Friday that the deal gives the government authority to override those rights in certain national security cases.
HAR!
New reason to KYFMS, ITT.
Oh god damn it.
Are we surprised? Upset? Disappointed?
Honestly, I congratulate them on bringing us one step closer to Civil War 2.0 (where the crazed redneck whites fight for liberation from the black administration).
I can't wait to kill my brother! It'll be fun!

Best part is, this basically will keep news agencies from reporting any government leaks whatsoever. Period.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled balloon boy.

It will have a chilling effect but there will still be good reporters out there willing to stick their neck out... I hope. I don't think that there is a chance in hell this would be stand up in a court of law. It's so blatantly un-Constitutional. Then again, the courts aren't doing much about the "state secrets" excuse that both Bush and Obama have been very found of abusing.

It ain't the reporters, Iason. They'd have to reveal their sources. Good luck getting any leaks to report.
Erm, sources aren't protected under federal law as it is. This makes the bill somewhat useless, but there's no erosion.

Oh, yes, I forgot. In addition to your expertise in physics and everything else, you are also a master of SCOTUS case law.
And you're 169% right. That's why the senate and house knew who Deep Throat was all along.
Because, you know, the 1st amendment is just a suggestion.
The First Amendment is being used here in Pgh to harass women who try to get medical care. Recently, an 8-foot protester buffer was declared an undue restriction on the 1st Amendment.
Also: all people do with speech is Twitter and PD.com. As far as I'm concerned, fuck the 1st Amendment.

:omg:
Besides, if they tell us the serious news, no one will know what John and Kate are up to, or or or who got kicked off Dancing with the Stars.... YOU KNOW... The IMPORTANT news!!!

Just think... it won't be that long before advancements in medical science raise the life expectancy past 85!
You're not even halfway done!

That's why I eat unhealthy food and exercise little. I keep hoping that the day I get off my ass and try to work out that i will have a massive coronary and drop fucking dead.
Taking shitty care of your body like that is just going to make your final years uncomfortable, boring and shitty. If you wanna live fast, die young and go out with a bang while having the time of your life, you should be doing physically dangerous things instead of sitting on your ass and stuffing your face.
It's probably more fun and fulfilling as well.
Living unhealthy gives you a bigger chance of giving you a long, dragged out, bed-ridden, falling apart end. Sure you may test your luck and go for the single fatal heart attack, but it might as well just give you a stroke and turn you into a drooling wheelchair blob. Or a long life of uncountable ailings and incontinence.
Just drive your car really fast and see what kind of trouble you can get into.

You know, your scope is limited if that's all you're witnessing in the world. There's a lot more out there, it's just hard to hear over the cacophany of the farting of the masses.
