I believe that some people have a deep abiding respect for the natural beauty that was once this country. And some people don't. People start pollution. People can stop it.
I believe I need to take a dump.

Ask any farmer. No oil means no crops, no transport...in short, no food.
This is why oil is an unhealthy addiction. We're going to run out at some point and if we haven't gotten our heads around the oil=life fallacy then lack of oil is going to equal extinction. It's already begun. Lot of smudgy people are dying because there aint enough life to go around.

Oil= life isn't a fallacy at the moment, it's a fact. And yes, it's a trap.
But your lights are still on, and your house is still warm, and there's food in the cupboard, so don't think about tomorrow. Or you're a Dangerous Homegrown Radical™.

Not to mention anything made out of plastic is going to become something of a novelty.
Pretty much everything as I understand it. We've built the biggest castle in the history of the universe on a bed of thick runny black sand :lulz:
Well we could've concentrated more on renewable and nuclear power, while making sure what oil we did have could be put to use on those essential things...but apparently Peak Oil is a secret conspiracy designed by the oil companies in order to justify price increases, or something, and in fact oil just appears magically in the ground, because God loves us and shit.
Phew! I thought we had a problem. Three cheers for god, eh? :D

That's what this thread made my brain do. I have no idea what I believe in anymore, except in the little things that make life go around.
And I'm pretty comfortable with that, all told, sadly enough.
I guess it comes down to belief and faith?
I believe a lot of things as true. But I don't have faith that those truths will stay that way....
If that makes any sense, and if it doesn't well, fuck it... :lulz:
Faith is being sure of what you hope for, and what you do not see. That's directly from the Bible. I Corinthians something-or-other. I think it's beyond difficult to keep being sure of hope, after a certain amount of time in this world. You have to have a large amount of blindness and lack of ability to pay attention to what would destroy that hope.

Wow, did I like, say something completely wrong about what you said about faith or what?
Faith is BLIND (or at least impaired, intentionally or not) HOPE, according to a lot of what I personally know and read of it. Most of that is in hardcore religion with hardcore religious types that don't allow for sketpicism based on experiences.
But do go on with nevermind.

If I took anything the bible said with more than a grain of salt I would be putting myself in the position of eternal damnation to the lake of fire for even being here........
Faith is more than a religious term. It's a belief in something that can't be guarranteed. It doesn't always mean religion. It seems every time that word is used it always goes back to religion. I didn't mean it that way.
Hence the nevermind.....

Well, YEAH, that's what I meant. I don't know of any faith outside of religion. Because anything secular points to lack of faith as being SMART and learning of lessons.
I think we're saying the same thing but not. But I'm glad you didn't nevermind and explained. I didn't mean to suppose you meant religion, btw...but the description in the Bible really does point out everything I find WRONG with faith.
