From what I've heard (via TV Tropes, which is pretty neutral on the whole thing), while there have been some attacks, a few even newspaper worthy, there have been more than a few faked attacks that have been spread around by the Anti-twilighter crowd.
"Don't believe anything you read" certainly applies to both sides of this conflict, especially without independent corroboration.
:omg:
And here I held out some sort of hope for people disagreeing without violence. Even on something so fucking insignificant as a crappy book series.
Somehow I'm not surprised it's the rabid fan-base that drew first blood, though. Mostly 'cause of the rabid fanaticism versus the average "Meh, this book blows ass." Then again, an ENTIRE FORUM dedicated to how much the books suck seems a bit much. Hell I don't know. Maybe if both sides duke it out a wave of good might spread out and the average intelligence might raise slightly. *Sigh* I need a drink now.

Yes! The key to success is to arm both sides with chainsaws and videotape for great lulz.

If anyone on this board doesn't understand the "Don't believe anything you read" principle someone should write to them and explain it immediately.
The fact that people find it absolutely necessary to have an anti-Twilight forum on the internet says a lot as well. Aside from listing all of the attacks on your "antis" how many things could you possibly talk about aside from that you "hate" Twilight?
I hate lots of things, but I'm not about to make a forum about them. I hate the internet.
I never understood the anti-twilight crowd, guess it started as a joke then became serious.
There half ass popcorn books that became popular. Nothing more then that. Not the first time that happened and wont be the last.
Stephenie Meyer will write another series soon, since she hacks these books out at a rate of like 1 every 3 months, and it wont be as popular cause although it will have the teenage prince charming fantasies of the first series it wont have the same characters and the fad will die out.

Is the "New Moon" that they are advertising now the 2nd or 3rd one? We watched the first, and while my 10 year old daughter enjoyed it, my favorite part was the gorgeous scenery....
Almost certain it's the second.
I want to see how they deal with the scene where Bella gives birth, in a later book. Given these books are aimed at the young teen audience, and the described scene involves a werewolf doing a C-section with his teeth....yeah, this should be fun, when turned into a film scene.

I will probably never read these books, so I'm going to go ahead and ask the question that must be on everyone's mind when they read that.
So yeah, does Bella turn into a werewolf or what?
No, she becomes a vampire, after much angsting.
Like, tons of angsting. Angst runs down the walls, blocks the toilet and floods the town. With angst.

Bella is the one who's in love with Cedric Diggory right? Isn't she a vampire? Can they be both in this series?
You can tell I'm so well informed..... :lulz:

They'll obviously change it, driving our sparkly mormon friend Stephenie Meyer into fits.

The books go as thus: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn. And according to my sister, shit runs down, and they progressively get worse and worse while the author continued to spit out as much shit as she could to make a buck.

I read the first few chapters of the first book, skimmed the next third of the first book, read the last page, puked, then imagined what was in the rest of the books
That is the only way to read the series.
LSD also works.
So I'm still confused. The werewolf cuts her open with his teeth, right? That constitutes biting, right? Werewolf bites turn people into werewolves, right? And she doesn't?

Vampires are also supposed to die in sunlight but in twilight they SPARKLE.
SPARKLE SPARKLE.

She's a vampire at that point, IIRC. Which is also why the savaging of her uterus by a giant dog doesn't end up killing her or her kid (who, btw, the werewolf in question has "fixated" one, meaning they will get it on, when she grows up. Which is in about 6 months or something, for some inane reason. I mean, aside from avoiding the creepy paedophilia implications)

My sister is an incredibly fast reader. I mean, I'm fast, but I can't bring myself to read anything more than 500 pages in a day like she can. So she finished each book in like 3 days tops. She gets to Breaking Dawn, and she's like, "Oh FUCK this!! This is AWFUL. I have to FORCE myself to even THINK about reading this. Gah."
I read the first book in about a day. Then read the cheat sheet/synopses online for the rest because I couldn't stand going through that again. The movie was so fuckawful I'm glad I didn't waste any more time on the series.
The movie was awesome. Both the main actors hate their characters, especially Robert Pattinson, and it shows, on a second viewing.
In the Twilight series, a werewolf's bite does not turn the victim; werewolves are a Native American genetic curse that spontaneously appears in the presence of vampires.
I hate myself for knowing that.

Wait, so Native Americans are cursed by their ancestry to transform into brutal, savage animals? Not very subtle at all, this Meyer gal.
Yeah, Mormons do have some "interesting" beliefs about Native Americans.
Also, the implications that werewolves imprint when their mate is an unfertilized egg is also a bit squicky.
That is, Jacob was obsessed with Bella for an unknown reason, then when she got pregant by Edward, imprinted on the fetus-- but let's also keep in mind that the sex of a baby is determined by the male half of the zygote.
