:argh!:
At least it's better than that word "huggles"
Rumckle
-will unfriend anyone who uses the word huggles.
Is it just me, or is the English language gradually sliding towards Newspeak?
I think it is heading in the opposite direction.

Quotedeath panel – a theoretical body that determines which patients deserve to live, when care is rationed
Theoretical? Tell that to the families of people whose insurance companies deny coverage for expensive but potentially life-saving treatment.

Would that be towards Unspeak (http://unspeak.net/)?
Yeah, in a nutshell.
I don't think this is a new low for the OED word of the year.
I want to stab the unfunny quibbling pedants who claim its not a REAL word if it's not in the OED. Right in their fucking face.
What about the quibbling unfunny pedants who claim that it's not a real word regardless of whether or not it's in the OED?

You're right. The real key here is "quibbling unfunny pedants".
I don't see how people can take the perspective that the English language is a definite thing. You can draw lines in the sand as far as grammatical standards. However, words are often made up on the spot, and that's exactly what the world needs right now.

Perhaps, I still find it very snagora though.

Augh, you jerkoff. I mean made up words such as, well, almost any given urban dictionary entry.

To be entirely honest, I agree with this statement.
However, it is very fun to be pedantic, particularly when you are in fact correct.
What is this correct you speak of?

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves.

Yes, that would have never been published if correct made any difference.

Lewis Carroll was trolling "quibbling unfunny pedants" before we were even born!

I never implied correct made any difference, except in the context of being quibbling, unfunny, and pedantic for sport.
Merriam-Webster announced their WotY: Admonished

Though, in 2007 they had w00t, :argh!:
Oh, and I think Truthiness was in there one year.
These days, and especially online, language is adapted far too quickly for these old fashioned tree corpses.
Urban dictionary serves me better, usually.
