Title: SNOW dammit, arrrrrg!
Post by: Wondering Monk on December 20, 2009, 08:26:56 AM
Why do people get so exited about snow. Ok, so its nice to look at for a few minutes, but that soon changes when it starts to melt and goes all grey and sleety. And lets face it apart from that its just cold and annoying. It makes everything so much more difficult, iv gotta go to my matial arts class in the snow this morning and its a journey that i would normally longboard and it would take me 10 minutes. I  cant get a lift because we are snowed into the drive, so iv got to trudge all the way across town by foot, lugging various heavy weaponry and it will probably take me close to 40 minutes.
By the time i get there ill probably be too cold to fight anyway or ill find its been cancelled because my instructor couldn't get there because of the snow.

But hey, its Christmas and we all dream of a white Christmas.  :argh!:

think of it as extra training?

i don't mind the snow until about mid may, then i get kind of tired of it.

just got back, the cold wasn't that bad once we got training, my feet still hurt though

once it turns into slush it is super annoying, and the sun has just come out so that will happen soon  :x

it's so yuo can create horror snowmen, such as these ancient torture and execution re-enactments:

Wow what a morbid thing to make a snowman about... and to think, they base a religion on the same brutal method of execution...

It would be closer to say "they base a religion on the event where the brutal method of execution was un-done."

Because it only snows about three times a year here, and the council is never prepared for it, meaning all the roads are closed and no-one has to go to work or school.

Snow is fucking awesome, EOT

There are some men taking their sweet time scraping the ice off of their car.  This never bothers me unless they are parked directly behind me (wtf) and are talking so loudly I can hear them inside the kitchen in my apartment, on the other side of the building.  I WANT CIGARETTES and they are about to meet one hellacious bitch if they don't move in like 10 minutes.

True.

For example, today, while we did have no snow (again), we had about three days worth of frost on the roads, with no grit or anything put down.

So today I played a little game on the way to work, called "how many times can Cain tread on black ice without slipping and breaking his neck?"  It was great fun.  I also had to ice-skate for about twenty metres, because there is a dip near where the river is on the way to work, and all the water had pooled there and frozen over the road, making it a deathtrap for anyone attempting to walk.  Oh, and the few insane drivers out there just added to what was, possibly, the most fun I have ever had walking to work.

It was even better on the way back, since some of the ice had melted, making it even harder to tell where the patches of black ice were.

Just look at what snow did to a million Eurostar passengers.

Not bad for some little flakes of frozen water. :lulz:

Snow is awesome because it creates the opportunity for me to reveal that I am prepared for this shit and everyone else is not.

Guess who's got the only shovel on campus?
