ASK ME ANYTHING!!!
Would you please shut up? Your behavior is not conducive to a productive work environment. Frankly, you're scaring your co-workers and threatening to fist people is unacceptable conduct.
BITE ME.
I should mention that these are 16oz cups. Not 8.
Followup: What the fuck is yerba mate?
StD,
too lazy to google.
I just ate my body weight in kidney beans, Suu. What will happen to me?
Suu what the hell is a kidney bear?
Preemptive followup: How much diet pepsi would it take to kill a 175 lb man?
Yerba Mate is an herbal tea that has 120% the caffeine of coffee per cup but with no side effects!

You could drink 331.77 cans of Diet Pepsi before croaking.
CHA CHA!
Who is your yerba dealer?

Who is your yerba dealer?
Teavana, c/o Richter as my Christmas present. He gives the gift of xanthines!
Fancy. I just have a 1Kg bag of Cruz de Malta. It suffices, as a drug.
Odd how it's so powerful, yet I am wont to drink so much more of it than coffee.
120% the caffeine-equivalent of coffee, dude! YERBA MATE IS THE TEA OF THE GODS.
The best part is no nasty crash. No shakes, no heart palpitations, just feeling AWESOME and HAPPY. I did drink way too much though. I'm going to have a hard time getting to sleep. I stopped drinking it over 2 hours ago and I'm still feeling win....Of course I did switch to a pu-erh/oolong chai, but that's to help me digest the Philly cheesesteak wrap sitting in my stomach.
I have a mate/chamomile blend that confuses me. It doesn't say caffeine free, but I know mate has caffeine, and chamomile always puts me to sleep.
Suu, what do you think a chamomile mate tea should do?
You can decaffinate teas.

I heartily concur! Perhaps I should put down coffee for a while.

In that case, the chamomile is just for flavor to cut the bitterness of the mate, because there is no way in hell that it will overpower it.

MateVana is what I typically drink when I kick coffee for a while. It's really full bodied and flavored with chocolate and nuts. It smells like Oreo cookies. It doesn't TASTE like Oreos, but it's not as bitter as drinking mate straight up. It also has rooibos in it for the antioxidants.

A bit on the expensive side for me, unfortunately. I only have yerba mate right now because the mexican tienda back in Cali had a huge Kg bag of the stuff for dirt cheap. It's tasty though; the bitterness I like.

Suu, what do you think a chamomile mate tea should do?
Chamomile gets used as a topical skin cream and gastro-intestinal aid, primary action is anti-inflammatory in skin and mucus membranes (which means it's interfacing with you endocannabinoid system as that's your primary inflammation response system). Large doses of chamomile should feel a similar body relaxation to eating a pot brownie without the cerebral effects (check for allergy by holding the teabag against your skin for 5 min, avoid chamomile if you have a ragweed allergy). Probably blunt the nausea/shakes that might come from the high caffeine mate, complimentary effect, not just awake/sleep competitive.... http://www.drugs.com/npp/chamomile.html

Teavana can be a little ridiculous with their prices, but Tealuxe pales in comparison by selection. I'm just so damn happy that I don't have to go to Boston to buy their tea now since they opened one in Providence. (Which I think may have been the result of me sending a feedback suggestion.) I also have their Perfect Tea Maker (which earned the name of Crazy Tea Machine when I worked at Key), Perfect Tea Cup (because it fits right under the tea maker, lol) and a selection of their tins. I also have a cast-iron tetsubin from them, and a copper kettle which was left with Herbert is also from there. (I had to leave him SOMETHING since I took the cast-iron one.) I am a Teavana whore.

EITHER
SUU, I saw a bottle of yerba mate stout at the store today. What the hell would that be like?
OR
ON MY 8TH SHUT UP MATE,
I AM AT WORK AND WON'T CUP
I am gonna have to get some of this yerba mate stuff, cause the coffee we have at work is CRAP but I can't survive through the day without caffeine.
But my mum got me a coffee bean grinder for xmas, so I am still making my own coffee at home because DAMN, that's so nice. Grindin' mah beans, brewing mah caffeines... Mmm.
I could have sworn Suu was giving up crappy food and stimulants.

I think she was giving up coffee, booze, all the "hard on your system" stimulants, which arguably tea is not.
As far as the Philly cheesesteak... I got nothin'.
EDIT to add: But it sounds delicious and I want one too.

It was on a WRAP!
er...
It's very difficult for me to give up crappy foods when I only eat at work. Once I move and have refrigerator space of my own I'll be able to actually get what I want and not be scrutinized for it.
And the reason I gave up coffee is because I put too much crap in it. In order for me to drink it I add cream and sugar, so, if I want caffeine, I'll get it from tea which I drink straight. Plus tea at least has antioxidants, and it's a better appetite suppressant (see also: only eating at work.).

There is nothing wrong with coffee in moderation, or Yerba Mate in moderation; it's only the caffiene in either that's bad for you.
Coffee is loaded with antioxidants: moreso than tea.
But when I load coffee with half and half and sugar...it's not as beneficial. :|

True.
I can't stand the taste of yerba mate, so I don't drink it. But I also don't drink coffee because it's too much stimulant for my weak little pump. :lulz:
The Yerba Mate I have has other things in it for flavor like cocoa and nuts, so it's not as bitter. Which helps. Yerba Mate chai is also delicious since the spices help cover the bitterness.
Yeah. That expensive flavored mate stuff is really good. It doesn't taste at all like, well, normal mate.
Much like with coffee, I have to put cream and sugar into regular mate to make it drinkable. The fancy shmancy stuff, though, is drinkable all by itself.
I might have to try chai with mate. I actually like the taste of mate for itself, but I like even tastier things more.
