What is a recreational drug that can be used with "reasonable" side effects?
Also, is there any stimulant beyond nicotine/caffeine that wont hurt one?

Are you going to try circumventing the firewall at your new job?
I dunno. I have to get a handle on the lay of the land first. Technically the organization I'm going to work for is a part of the Hospital, but, it is physically separated from the Hospital in a different part of the city. And I don't really know the extent of the firewall but it would seem like if they block Facebook, a site like this would get blocked too. But maybe not. We'll see I guess.
But, if I don't, I'll still be here some. I usually check this place out while I'm eating my breakfast so I'll at least continue that routine.
You may be surprised. I don't know how this place is coded, but I've got a pretty strict firewall at work (no photobucket/imageshack/facebook/myspace/"forums"/"blogs" et al), but this place is fine.

True. Do they like monitor network usage at all there? That's one thing I'd be paranoid about it, and it may be due to my lack of understanding, but I would wonder if there was some spag sitting in some corner of the hospital watching what everyone is doing on the network.

Anything can kill you if you do it wrong or too much.

These days, there is always some spag watching what you do online. But having known some tech/security guys, they have a
lot more on their plate than some dude on a forum.
Anything getting done, or just riding it out?

Anything getting done, or just riding it out?
I basically have two tasks left.
Finish going through my files and complete a year-long overview of the program I've been transitioning to my co-worker. I'm almost done the latter. I cleaned out all of my personal belongings earlier this week, so I just need to go through files and toss unimportant stuff. I also want to take some of the papers and documents I've written to put in a portfolio for future projects.
My co-workers gave me a surprise baby shower/going away party yesterday (Pics in Spagbook). So it's a little weird and anti-climatic. Though, my Executive Director is supposed to be coming in at some point today so I we can have a little chat before I shove off.
Man. Good luck at the new place!
Whenever I leave a job, I try to hide something that others will discover.
For example, when I was a clinical research coordinator, I made about 40 photocopies of my face, screaming, and hid them inside the drop ceiling panels.
When I was a shoe salesman for Lord Tayloron I had a box of over 60 fortune cookie fortunes and 100 pen caps which I hid in a shoe box covered with mystic glyphs and labeled DO NOT OPEN. (I later found out that my haitian coworker, who is very superstitious, would not touch the box and remains freaked out to this day)
Even now, there are a few post-it notes hidden around my current work place which read, "CONGRATULATIONS! YOU FOUND THE SECRET NOTE. RE-HIDE THIS POST-IT FOR ++GOOD LUCK"
so my question is,
what are you having for lunch?
A wrap.
And also that is a great idea.
Did you get any nice leaving presents?
Actually, yes. A book on Adaptive Leadership.
Which is kind of nice, though maybe I'm reading too much into it, but that they seem to think I have leadership qualities despite not having an actual leadership role. And a very nice card from my chief of operations with some very nice sentiments. But, now I feel even more guilty for leaving.
I think I missed the official post on what your new job actually is. I know it's at a hospital. Please elaborate for the class on the new workplace. :)
I will be a health promotion coordinator for the schools in my region. My specific focus will be on substance abuse prevention in the schools. It is work on a federal grant that the city won. It's a 3 year grant, so I know that as long as I do my job I have steady employment for 3 solid years, which in this line of work is like a lifetime. I won't actually be working in the hospital, but the hospital is the fiscal agent for the grant and thus I will fall under their umbrella.
So, my morning commute just went from 50 minutes to 15 minutes at the most. Which is outstanding.
Also, I just had the chat with my soon to be ex-Executive Director, and he told me that if he ever has a position open in the future, and I apply for it, it would pretty much be mine. I think he is a little pissed that I am leaving, though he understands why. It's not like the business world, where as long as you have a good cash flow you can keep people you like. In this line of work, you can have the best employee in the world, but if you don't have the funding, you can't keep him.
It's good that you'll be closer to home though. And probably for the best with the baby on the way. :)

Eh, you know what? In this economy, no one's going to expect you to stick it out in a dicky situation. You have 2 kids now, and a mortgage. That shit piles up. And you didn't sell out--you are working towards the same goals same as ever when you embarked on this trip.
You should be fucking damned proud that you've kept this end up and still keep going strong. The fact your ex-director wants to still hire you on after you leave is an extra special boon.
May your next endeavor be even more successful and rewarding for you, RWHN.
