Title: UK shamed. Uruguay, Hungary, better places to live.

You Amerispags did pretty well, at seventh.  Canada isn't bad at 9, either.  Auspags came second though and France came first for the fifth year in a row.

The UK, however, came behind such economic powerhouses as Belgium and Lithuania, in 25th place

I was hoping Spain would have been higher on the list.  for some reason, i have a desire to retire in Barcelona.

Interesting, I would have guessed the Scandanavian countries higher, though top 20 is nothing to sneeze at I suppose.

The South of France (Provence and near the Mediterranean) is so the bomb.  NOTHING like the north and Paris/environs.

Probably that's the reason they have it so good.  Portlanders often complain about issues too, and it's (factually) the greenest, and (arguably) most liberal state in the union.

Rhode Island has some of the best beaches and temperate summers in the nation and we still find reasons to bitch about it.

I've never complained about California.  :)

But I digress. It's cool to see the U.S. that high on the list; the others are basically what I expected based on other such lists I've seen (I can't base it on my own knowledge because I have none of other countries :p).

 I miss California. They have nice things, like streetwalks without cracks or tree roots; like where you can actually use bikes to one place to another.

Oh silly Roger, its them like christmas trees that are made out of dry chairs, and the Machine makes people put them everywehre, because theres no more space at the local dumpster.

Some madmen speak of leaves and flowers not made of plastic; such deluded conspiracy freaks, it saddens me.

I lolled . . . this is definitely good for a giggle but I can't take seriously a comparison created by a commercial outfit trying to sell foreign real estate to the overprivileged who run articles like "How to Finance an International Property Investment"

"To produce this annual Index we consider nine categories: Cost of Living, Culture and Leisure, Economy, Environment, Freedom, Health, Infrastructure, Safety and Risk, and Climate. This involves a lot of number crunching from "official" sources, including government websites, the World Health Organization, and The Economist, to name but a few. We also take into account what our editors from all over the world have to say about our findings."

So this is based on something which they implicitly claim is 'scientific' ie it is created by 'numbercrunching' but they manage to not mention exactly what parameters they are using - and then they overwrite that with the opinions of their editors . . .

not that this should inhibit the inevitable lulz

Portland is not a state. And I'm curious about your definition of "greenest", and for that matter, of "factually".

And the southwest, and parts of London.

Basically, Kensington is alright.  On a sunny weekday afternoon.  If you squint at it properly.

I did misspeak, I know it's not a state.  Also, with some actual research I have come to the conclusion that I was talking directly out of my ass.  Portland isn't that green really, compared to other places like Madison, WI and Honolulu.

"Green" is very vague, but it wins by some metrics, such as air quality.
