I'd like to make it known that, even after 2 margaritas, this is the WORST McDonald's Double Quarter Pounder I've had in my life. Especially after I dumped all my fries out on the driveway when they fell out of my bag. That is all.
Have I mentioned I hate my life?
I HATE MY FUCKING LIFE.

No way, this was far worse than anything I've had in a while. Granted I haven't had fast food since uh...Um...Yeah. Since like October, but still. It just didn't taste right.
...I think it actually tasted like REAL BEEF.
OH YEAH YOUR LIFE TOTALLY SUCKS, WHAT WITH LIVING IN A NON EARTHQUAKED 1ST WORLD COUNTRY
Snap. Looks like it's time to move this to the 1st world problems thread.

I...just lost my entire post, so here goes again.
Either way, you finally hit my Republican spot, and I apologize in advance for the momentary Americanism.
Fuck Haiti, because half of the US could just as easily fall into the ocean tomorrow and no one will save us. Where were other countries after Katrina when the US was too retarded and preoccupied elsewhere to provide aid to it's own citizens? Where were they on 9/11 (aside from Canada who harbored a lot of Americans stranded on flights) when I lost 4 relatives who tried to be heroes and save people? Where were they in 2004 when 3 hurricanes beat the FUCK out of Florida and the insurance companies copped out and the government did nothing about it?
Other countries don't see us as vulnerable. That's the problem. We're SUPPOSED to be great and giving and wonderful and save all the poor people of the world and show them the Statue of Liberty, right? No matter the cost to our own born and bred citizens.
Well, I could die tomorrow...and with no insurance coverage it would probably cost my parents' their house to bury me. But hey, we gotta help Haiti, right? I'm going to send my boyfriend down there, to be shot at as he tries to bring people in dire need of food and water aid...they could kill him, but I have to let him go, because we're American and we're all nice nice.
Fuck that.
Fuck being American. 100 years ago meant being American was keeping to our fucking selves and bettering our own lives. We wanted nothing to do with WWI but we got pulled into it anyway because Mexico tried to shit on us by ways of Germany, since then we had to get in the middle of everyone's bullshit, losing money and resources in the process.
Who says America is First World anyway? Because that's the expectation we have to uphold? Have you LOOKED at the value of the American dollar lately? Or how some of our top corporations are trading overseas? Have you seen that the majority of the city you live in is ghetto that is trying to be gentrified to create an illusion of a resurging economy? Because I have. Providence is a mess. Some parts of the District of Columbia look no different than the slums of Haiti, but it's more important to feed them first? I can't send money to the Red Cross because I can't even find the time I need between working at home and working at the restaurant to go grocery shopping to feed MYSELF. Living on nothing by peanut butter and ramen last year before Richter moved in with Herbert and I really put things into perspective for me. Because America the Beautiful and the Free and the Prosperous and the First World Power is nothing more than an illusion if it can't even grant aid to a young native couple simply trying to survive during a recession. That bullshit cost me my marriage, no matter how unstable it was, I know the financial issues were the final straw.
I've accepted the fact that when Generation X comes to retirement we won't see Social Security or Medicare...But right now I have no piece of mind. I'm just as afraid to wake up in the morning as anyone else is anywhere in the world.
On this board we all gripe about humanity and pretend to be more superior than we really are. We're not. We're just a couple notches up on the intelligence scale than the rest of the monkeys, so we see it differently. We're smart people, sure, but there are other smart people in this world and nation too. What are they doing? The same thing we are, bitching about it. That's all us humans are good for doing. Bitching.
I'm sick of waiting tables. I'm sick of the same shit day in and day out just trying to live. What's an education? Evidently not enough, but I'm going back anyway. I'm going back and getting what I need to get, and putting myself more in debt so I have another piece of paper to show. Why? I have no clue. Probably to make me feel better about being here I guess. Maybe it'll give me a more solid purpose. Though I doubt history will get me farther than graphic design. But, who the hell knows, we could all be dead in 2 years anyway. Right now my primary objectives are food and shelter, as should any ape's.
But will I do something about it? Maybe...Maybe not. For now, I'm just bitching.
...Oh look, Viagra spam in my inbox!
TL;DR: I DON'T GIVE A FUCK.

Our poor have two tv's and nintendo.
I have. I've seen the slums of Brazil (Brasilia, btw, not Rio de Janeiro, which is VERY different) and the Dominican Republic. I'm not fucking dumb. I know what's out there. I trained with the Brazilian Olympic Taekwondo Team and their women can't even afford bras as they fight barefoot on a worn out wood floor at their OLYMPIC TRAINING CENTER.
America may have it "better" but we don't have it "good" either.

I would agree that on the average we're better off than a third world country, but there are places where you are just as likely beaten and raped by the cops or shot in the streets... However I am certainly not saying that makes the plight of others any less "real". I wanted to interject here to make that point; we're all people. In the end borders are illusory. It's about how we can best allocate resources. We've seriously fucked up Haiti and the slaves that toil under the government and infrastructure we've perpetuated. I don't think relief will be in any way less of a two step backwards fuck up, but I am totally for helping the people.

I have an out of date computer. I have no TV of my own, no gaming system, I eat only when I'm at work and I have no medical care because I make too much for Medicaid but not enough for private coverage if that makes sense. I've been turned down for welfare and food stamps last year. I've been turned down for unemployment. And when I see these "poor" people dripping in gold paying for Bebe's Kids apple juice at Stop and Shop with a benefits card I wonder what the hell I'm doing wrong. Maybe because I'm not trying to fuck the system? I dunno. I hocked most of my gold last year for $45 so Herbert would stop bitching that he wanted rent money after I had been out of work for 2 months and UI hadn't come through yet.
It's not like I jumped for joy when the earthquake happened, I was just sickeningly complacent with a touch of, "Wow that sucks."
I think I just need a full night's sleep or something, I don't know...Nothing is making much sense anymore.

Don't get me wrong, if I could I'd send money too. I'd also donate blood if I wasn't thalassemic.
The way I see it.
People are always going to suffer out in the world, due to tragedy, bad end of the deal etc.
All you really have is yourself to look out for, while you can feel sympathy for the poor souls that happened upon the Tidal Waves, and the Haiti Quake; (un)fortunantely life still moves on.
If you forget about yourselves, the potential to help another is considerably less. So in a way its like helping yourself to help others.
While it is something to smile when you hear a story of people who are already in trouble, extending their hands (however short they may be) to help another - and more than often they are dragging themselves down further due to this. Sometimes with people its inevitable, well the whole thing is relative .. sometimes they might be lucky and by extending their hands out to help people, they might accidently strike a oil well or something.
That said, the ones who aren't in trouble are usually reluctant to even sink their paws into what remotely may look like shit.
Sometimes people will need to vent to recieve some form of reinforcement so they can continue on in their trudge in the bogged down marshs, and they might be able to pass the same thing onto others.
Ok I think I'm getting off tangent and a bit fluffy here so I'll just stop.
