Title: Enrico, I need some advice.
Post by: Doktor Howl on March 24, 2010, 03:39:23 PM
Dear Glorious Faggot,

Yesterday, I sent a part out to be rubberized.  On the requisition, I wrote "I need this back as soon as is possible.  We have a product stream down."

In this morning's meeting, I asked the buyer when we would get the part back.  He replied with Friday.  I asked him why so long, considering the urgency of the situation, and he replied "Well, you didn't give me a date, so I told them to get to it when they could."

How can I impress upon him that "as soon as possible" does not mean "whenever the vendor has nothing else to do"?  Bear in mind that I have a complete machine shop and 7 angry bikers at my disposal, and can contract more if necessary.

Love and kisses,
Dok

You might have to find him of Facebook.  I caught a rumor that he's not coming around here anymore.

Ahh. haha.
man, haven't you been at it longer than I have?!
Everything is due at Close of Business today if it's something in house.
if its a sub, then you give them 5-10% less than what you think it's possible to do it in.
the date due field should accept nothing but numerical entry.
terms like "ASAP" and "Hot!" are for the comments field, which generally gets ignored or misinterpreted...
sound's like your buyer already had his brain rubberized.

Same token though, this jackass is not a computer, and cannot beg off being a computer.  Things like "accountability" or "Proactivity" are great to throw at the overly literal.
(Did they ask for clarification?  Did they READ the request beyond scanning for a date?)
