:lulz: I lol'd.
...it's early days yet, Suu...
You're not floating like we are in New England.
troof. not likely to either.
RUNS OUTTA THREAD FAST. (it's all fun and games till San Diego goes up in flames...)
Earthquakes and wiledfires and conservatives, OH MY!
...Meanwhile...high and dry on the 3rd floor...my bathroom ceiling has sprung a leak.
Yeah...
My office got closed because the parking lot was 4 ft. under, AGAIN, as I found out when I showed up to work.
Roomies got flooded out of work and school too.
Current plan is to acquire a boat if the raise in water level seems permanent, and head north to link up with the rest of my clan. We've been prepped for this since the 80's.
Wait...Warwick Mall flooded?!?!
...Wait....HAS ANYONE HEARD FROM DIMO TODAY?! Did he float away down the Pawtuxet?!!
Also, street flooding doesn't bother me. The correct motorcycle is to have a canoe on standby and charge for rides to and from the convenience store. I mean, the ice caps melt, at least I know I can make a buck of of it.
Flooded Warwick Mall confirmed.

Rains stopped. We're no longer fucked.
I had a boat at the docks picked out and EVERYTHING.

No. All the water from Massachusetts is still running down into my rivers. :argh!:
The Massholes are deliberately flooding us, Richter!

NARRAGANSETT IS BREWED IN ROCHESTER NEW YORK YOU FUCKING PURITAN!
This is Valley St. down the hill from where Richter and Herbert live.
Holy crap.
On the plus side, if this had happened at any other time than my Spring Break, no one might have noticed the basement until it was too late and all my stuff that isn't in a dorm room got ruined.
Yeah. I think they are stuck up on Federal Hill. The Woonasquatucket goes around it into Downcity. I have yet to see if the water has gotten over the river walls downtown but I'm sure it's not pretty.
PROTIP: never live on a "Valley St." unless your house is on stilts.
I'm going out and about later. if it's like yesterday the main roads should be OK
When I first saw Providence, I was like, "Wow, this place is a category 5's wet dream."
If it floods this bad just from supersaturation, then a direct hit from a Katrina-size storm would just wipe us clean off the map.
With the drastic elevation changes you'd have SOME stuff left. Itwould depend on the damage and amount of shit left in the low lying areas. (where, sonofabitch, all the infrastructure is.)
.............Have you checked the basement?
I avoid the basement. Grues.
Don't you have flood systems in the northeast?

That wasn't a grue, that was Mishu the night she ran down there.
Please to check on my shit?

It doesn't do this severely often enough for us to warrant it. They also don't understand flood insurance up here, and when my parents went to buy it for when they moved up here, they got laughed at.
WHO'S LAUGHING NOW, YANKEE CUNTS?!
The Lake Formerly Known as Warwick:

Dimo is under that somewhere.
That's just fucking dumb. Even if its a once in a lifetime deal, that still means you *will* get hit with it in your lifetime.
::cough:: Statistics.
We MAY get hit with it in a lifetime. May get none, may get 5 in 5 years, or 5 in a row.
You are correct though that it bodes better infrastructure, people take too short a view.

Woo!
Also, see that mall? That's where Herb works. Richter works on the other side of 95 closer to the airport, apparently he got word there's 4ft of water in his building.
Hahahahahaha ahhhh....This is just what Rhode Island needs right now financially. I'm getting cabin fever so bad I'm starting to giggle randomly over this shit now, cause I'm swimming to Boston tomorrow, Spags.
Now taking bets on how long it will take FEMA to come in and try to "help". I do think the National Guard is already here though.
you need an oar, a bottle of liquor, a pirate hat, and an inflatable chair.
State of emergency was declared...yesterday?...hopefully that means some help for you guys, Suu...hang in there...

I hope I don't have to explain that return period is not equal to "flood of this size occurs ever 100 years", that it really means the probability of recurrence is 1/100th a year.
In other words, no it doesn't.
Edit: I see Richter already elucidated this.
Also, holy shit water.
Yep. The mall is done for. Just heard it on the news. It will take a month if not more to clean it up, then they'll see if it's even worth reopening.

Trying to find where to stream the 11pm news.
If a dam in Coventry goes, so does Coventry and West Warwick (Dimo can kiss his house goodbye). If the Arctic Dam goes, the lake formerly known as Warwick will be about 10ft deep. Somehow, the Airport is still open...
Westerly is submerged, Hope Valley is submerged. Downtown Providence somehow survived, probably because it's sacred ground and all, but if the Blackstone goes, so does the entire northern part of state...so here's hoping the dams hold.
Holy shit. The geese swimming on the highway - 146, or as I like to call it The Forlorn Route 146?
I can't believe you guys got hit that hard. I've been hearing about roads closed in my general area, but I think New Bedford itself only had one closed street. Supposedly Fall River had a street collapse though, earthquake style. Doesn't sound like much compared to those pictures.
If you RI spags need help getting across your state, I think I could caulk my Civic and float it with minimal risk to the oxen (which, of course, we will need for the ark).
Wow, that sucks a lot. Sorry about the water flood.
On the plus side, Rhode Island now has actual islands.

............That's I-95 dude, not 146. 146 is dry considering it crosses the Blackstone twice. The Pawtuxet just took over it's flood plain with a vengeance. Unfortunately they've built shit in the flood plain since the last time it needed to be used.

Yes. I'm not kidding when I say the Lake Formerly Known As Warwick. It's over 10ft deep in some places. Somehow, the airport survived.

I need offerings of beer comic books and travel money. Also someone to teach my family how to communicate effectively.
Also- oh my god! I drowned Dimo!
...No really. Has anyone heard from him? I'm texting him to see what the damage is. He's right up the road from the damn river.
yeah he's in the thread next door: http://www.principiadiscordia.com/forum/index.php?topic=24708.0;topicseen
I'm an idiot.
Need moar coffee.
Also, and for those that still doubt my divine powers. Not only is Providence dry, but so is Rhode Island Costume, the ONLY building not touched by floods in the Warwick Mall complex.
