So, yeah, finished the graphic novel issue on Friday and Saturday (no sleep Friday night), had way too much caffeine trying out the cold brew equipment...Yeah, I know you don't need lab gear to make it, but we wanted it NOW. Dropped Freaky off, and went downtown to Witless to my people.
Met a few guys at a barrel-fire party in an abandoned lot on Drachmann, not far from the Meatrack, and whipped them into a frenzy. Had a good time watching a few of them fight each other, then staggered off down 12th street. Things got a little hazy after that...Everything was swaying and blurry. Got into some kind of altercation, came away with scraped knuckles. I still have my wallet, so I guess I won.
After that, it's a blur, and at some point Maria and her sister Shorty were loading me into the back of Maria's jeep. Woke up alone at home at about 11AM Sunday morning, having missed all my pills for the night. Spent a glorious day of withdrawl symptoms, got in come kind of fight with Kai on IRC (nothing too serious, I hope), and then accidentally took two doses of my sleeping pills. Somehow drove to work at 5:30AM, and haven't accomplished shit all day.
Needless to say, I'm a wreck right now, and I won't be writing the Unvarnished Truth #2 until tomorrow morning, probably at 9AM MST. Sorry, but that's just the way it is...My brain is in the right zone for writing, but there's nothing there to write...I think I'd rather be yet another day late, than to post some brain-damaged jabbering in place of a well thought out rant. Brain-damaged jabbering has its uses, but not in this particular case.
Okay for now,
Dok
I'm in the last week of college.
I can promise new comic/wireframe updates when it all wraps up, though.

Also, me and my GF are going to be doing mad science experiments all throughout the summer, pulling inspiration from your optical stunner. First up is Ferrofluid, then the solar laser, then a railgun. If we have time we'll build a virus aquarium.
I'm too busy at work.
I'm too busy at home.
I don't even have enough time to sleep most days.
been bogged down both with the two LARPs I'm developing.
--One of them is the Dreaming (http://dreamings.ning.com), which I've talked about at length
--The other is NERO, which you may have heard of. I'm one of writers for the 9th edition rulebook, which was supposed to be released in something like the year 2000. We're finally getting around to releasing it, and it is being met with the worst gnashing and weeping of all time.
Past that, I'm getting geared up to be running a nero national event in Chicago. It's going to be a gigantic clusterfuck and I am considering not going due to the even worse gnashing and weeping which will be present at the event. If anybody will be around in Chicago in the last weekend of April, come be a monster in the dungeon I'm running! I promise you will get to eat hapless adventurers. In some sense.

Rail gun's harder than it sounds. We've been fucking with the idea in the I&E lab for some time now. The trick is that each coil has to shut off as the leading edge of the projectile (in our case, a nail) reaches the center of the coil. This is simple in theory, but very difficult in practice.

I know what you mean. Too many projects going on at once. I've decided to cut back to the MSY project, work, the gym, and badfun. Everything else is on a back burner until after the middle of June.

it's true, but dude, I'm so close to level
I post best and most prolifically from work. For the job I am lawful neutral, and this place is my venting ground.
Being flooded out of our office ATM, I'm doing shit with brass and bone, working out, and generally being relaxed. Also I still have a job, and get paid vacation until they sort a temporary office out.
Um... yay?

Take it to one of the more seriously wrecked areas, find yourself some floating debris to sit on, and write whatever comes into your diseased and mal-adjusted brain.
That's a hell of a motorcycle, I'm on it.
Because Enki would just shit all over it with his useless pedantry
I don't have an excuse unless you call me trying to have a life this weekend and actually going out with grownups!!!
Dok, I'm excited about the next in the series!!!
I have nothing new to say, and nothing old that I can say with enough passion.
No money to pay for film of development for either of the black and white projects that have been sitting in my head
I mostly post from work - been enjoying the 4 day weekend (as much as possible).
But I have nothing to add around here unfortunately, I just have lost all tolerance for anything and everything, even for good stuff :x ...
I will get over that soon regardless. The crabs have pretty much bitten, and I refuse to use my brain.
(Been spending most of free time being analytical; slowly writing a small framework for work)

I know what you mean, I've noticed myself getting all jaded and hypercricitcal lately. I need to become jaded towards being jaded, and just enjoy things more.

Both of you: go do something physical and non-thinky for a couple of hours. it will clear your head.
I went for a nice walk.
It was quiet, except for the wind and Highway 101.
I've never needed an excuse and I sure as hell am not going to start now.
Scarborough Renaissance Festival starts this Saturday and I've got season tickets with the good parking pass. :)

No, nothing too serious, Dok.
I had forgotten to take my pills that morning as well. And there are too many caddisflies and too little time.
Okay for now,
Kai

Do you know what lack of education and perspective do to people? They don't understand a flood down here, even though they're living one. Sure, it sinks in when they see Wal – Mart washed out, then the go somewhere else. Away from the water, the detours, the silt on the road and the damaged buildings it looks like life is just carrying on. Out of sight, out of mind.
"Why can't I get my bus pass?" The company that makes them is still in the swamp that was Warwick. "Yeah, so why can't I get my bus pass?"
"Is this store ALWAYS this busy?" No, the three closest stores are flooded out. The Price – Rite, with it's shipping pallet displays, heavily dyed meat, and spray – painted vegetables, it's not going to be open for awhile. Yes, it IS more expensive here. It doesn't have the government mandated libido suppressants and arsenic for discount groceries in poor urban areas either. (Lots of big words, but their eyes bug out whenever I tell them that.)
FEMA isn't any better. MOST of the state is still rolling, so there's no emergency to manage. Aid? Assistance? Apply for a disaster loan, they say. Never mind those who can't work until the offices re – open. Never mind Mark, who's place and stuff is ruined by water. Some departments are useless unless they can cram people into an emergency shelter.
Go house to house with pumps, mops, and quik-dry? Nope, no use doing that. No use actually doing something HELPFUL. How about moving out perfectly viable businesses from the low lying morass to some of the higher situated retail spaces that have been up for lease for months?
FEMA shakes it's dick, offer loans and leaves. RI Unemployment tells flood victims they can apply, smiling and flashing the peacock feathers covering their flaccid deflated pocket. The private citizens buy every shop vac and pump they can lay hands on. Another cleanup successfully put off the shoulders of a government we pay for "Service", and onto the shoulders of a populace already tried by rough economy. Maybe if they weren't in the USA they'd actually get some help.
I come here for fun and occasional information. PD doesn't pay me to write or otherwise generate content. If I want to work, I'll go to work or take on some freelance stuff.
School. Flood. Creators block. Other assorted bullshit.
I've been busy visiting a dying old woman who needs to hang on by her too-long toenails till her son (my dad) gets out...settling and starting and getting in the middle of altercations between my cousin and her crazy husband (who's been brandishing his g-u-n, unfortunately, and this dude is like 3 x's my size...embracing the crazy is starting to become a little more dangerous), and just general fuckery since I have a forced-hiatus from work this month.
