I noticed a possible BIP reference in the clip of Step Up.

He looks a lot like a friend of mine from Grade 5, only with a mustache.

Not weird enough. They need to try harder.

What constitutes 'weird enough'?

The lyrics to Gates of Steel sound to me like a summary of the whole Black Iron Prison idea.

Quotetwist away the gates of steel
unlock the secret voice
give in to ancient noise
take a chance a brand new dance
twist away the gates of steel

twist away
now twist and shout
the earth it moves too slow
but the earth is all we know
we pay to play the human way
twist away the gates of steel

a man is real
not made of steel

but the earth is all we know
we pay to play the human way
twist away the gates of steel

the beginning was the end
of everything now
the ape regards his tail
he's stuck on it
repeats until he fails
half a goon and half a god
a man's not made of steel

twist away
now twist and shout
the earth it moves too slow
but the earth is all we know
we pay to play the human way
twist away the gates of steel

a man is real that's how he feels

I can't really define it, but I know it when I see it?  :?

This guy (Reggie Watts) opened for Devo in Seattle last year, it was great to watch the people who brought their kids squirm while he was on stage, link posted for your amusement, strong language...

That's totally what I thought, the first time I heard it.

There's a video for Watch Us Work It, too, but by this point that's kind of old news.

Sure, Devo's old news. Older than me at least. I'm still happy they're making a new album that sounds like it'll be pretty good.

DEVO have been around for quite a long time.  that does not make them old news.

Particularly since they were right about everything.

My favorite random fact about that song is that Devo mixed the album version.

Actually I think the original is one mix, by The Arttery Squash, and the DEVO mix appears on the Watch Us Work It single.

DEVO are also going to be, if they haven't been already, in an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba.  Which makes sense since Mark Mothersbaugh has a regular presence on that show.

On release day (June 15th) we will not only be at the Billboard Music & Advertising conference, but we'll be performing on the Late Show with David Letterman the same night. June 16th you can catch us on the amazing Colbert Report and June 18th we'll be partying with Regis and Kelly. Be sure to tune in!! Duty now for the future.

Also - you can now stream our ENTIRE new album on the Colbert website! Listen.

Anyone remember Dev2.0?

I own the DEV2.0 DVD and album as well as I think I started a thread about it ages ago.

For the most part I think the new album is FUCKING awesome.

I am also quite drunk now and not aware of how complex getting back to my car in the AM will be.

So, a better review at some point in the future.

OK, I'm sober now and the new album is still awesome.
