Title: Trolling Answers or Shooting fish in a Barrell
Post by: BadBeast on May 19, 2010, 05:24:24 AM
Just going to keep some Yahoo Answers Trollings going in, because they tend to take all the best ones down really quickly nowadays.

This is the violation notice from yahoo that came half an hour before they took my first account from me.

Hello BadBeast
You have posted content to Yahoo! Answers in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. As a result, your content has been deleted. Community Guidelines help to keep Yahoo! Answers a safe and useful community, so we appreciate your consideration of its rules.

Question: How to prevent my baby from removing her nappy?
Question Details: My baby (1.5 years old) removes her nappy herself every time she is in bed. I tried everything: putting undies on, putting tight bodies on, even sewing the bottom of the body! She takes it off and wakes up in a lot of mess. Anyone has an idea?? Thanks!

Deleted Answer: Chop her little fingers off. Or maybe just her thumbs. Or opt for the non-surgical, and more expensive option, get some proper ducktape,( about 5 quid a roll ) and either tape the nappy shut, or tape her hands up. Taping the nappy shut lasts 3 times longer than not taping it, before it starts to dribble gravy everywhere. So you can have a lie in and watch Jeremy Kyle in bed.
Violation Reason:Community Guidelines and/or Terms Of Service Violation
Yahoo! Answers is a service provided to all of our Yahoo! users and we reserve the right to remove your content at any time for any reason. By posting content on Yahoo! Answers, you agree that you will not post any content that is in violation of our Community Guidelines, or the Yahoo! Terms of Service. You may read the Yahoo! Community Guidelines at: http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/info/community_guidelines.php We invite you to visit the Yahoo! Terms of Service at: http://uk.docs.yahoo.com/info/terms.html

I must be getting better at the appeals lately, because I haven't had one single Violation notice upheld on appeal, in my present account. Here's a more recent VN. The question was "What is some good names for Alcoholic drinks, using a colour, and the country of origin?

Hi BadBeast,
The answer you gave on Yahoo! Answers was reported by the Answers community:

"Amber Afghan, Black Moroccan, Panama Red, China White, Turkish Brown, Pakistani Black, Red Lebanese,"

This answer has been removed. You may not have realised this, but all answers submitted on Yahoo! Answers must comply with the Answers Community Guidelines.
If you believe that your answer does not violate the Answers Community Guidelines, and would like to appeal the removal of your answer, you can have your case reviewed by Answers Customer Care. You have 7 days to submit your appeal.

So I duly appealed,

Hi BadBeast,
Thank you for taking the time to submit an appeal. Upon review, we found the following answer was not in violation of the Answers Community Guidelines:
"Amber Afghan, Black Moroccan, Panama Red, China White, Turkish Brown, Pakistani Black, Red Lebanese,"
The Yahoo! Answers Team regrets that your answer was wrongfully reported by the Answers community. Your answer has been reposted to Yahoo! Answers, and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
As a result of your appeal, the people who reported your answer will have less influence when reporting abuse in the future.
Thanks,
Yahoo! Answers Team

Here's another old one, from start to finish. The appeals do not always work, especially when it seems the Staff are getting more Butthurt than the the OPs are.

Original Q

Question: Can microbes send telepathic messages?

Question Details: I know dogs, hamsters, and hedgehogs can.... But I
swear there isn't anyone here and I am still getting messages. How would
mictrobes know that I didn't take my meds today anyway? I think someone
is playing a trick on me perhaps.. I am going to turn the house upside
down, I know there is a hidden camera here.

My Answer

They usually hide the cameras in the bathtub overflow,
or in the lightsockets. Next time you are in the Bath, stand up, and
remove the Bulb from the socket. Poke around in the empty socket, until
the tiny camera falls out. But be careful, as the bulb might be quite
hot.
Violation Reason:Community Guidelines and/or Terms Of Service Violation

My Appeal

I am writing to appeal your decision to remove my answer to the post
(above) This was a light hearted response, to a light hearted question,
as can be seen if you actually read the question, and it's replies. But
just to be on the safe side, I even included a recommendation to be
cautious. (Btw, there are no hidden cameras in light sockets, before you
go to look)
Thank you, Badbeast

Their response.

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Answers.

We have reviewed your appeal request. Upon review we found that your
content was indeed in violation of the Yahoo! Answers Community
Guidelines, Yahoo! Community Guidelines or the Yahoo! Terms of Service.
As a result, your content will remain removed from Yahoo! Answers.

Please note: Questions that do not receive any answers within the 4-day
open period will expire and be deleted automatically.

Use of Yahoo! Answers is subject to the Yahoo! Answers Community
Guidelines, Yahoo! Community Guidelines, and also the Yahoo! Terms of
Service. Members who have violated the Community Guidelines are at risk
for review and possible termination of their Answers accounts. In
extreme cases, members who have also violated the Yahoo! Terms of
Service risk losing their Yahoo! ID and access to other Yahoo! services.

Dear Yahoo, I feel you have been a little draconian in the removal of my
answer. I will admit that my original answer contained mild and
un-explicit innuendo, in a "carry on" film style, but in no way could
this have been credibly
considered as an attempt to solicit sex, or to "sexually arouse"
anybody. You can't say that my answer was sexually arousing. In the
slightest.Nor was I explicit in my choice of words, or obscene in any
way. In fact, in the edit to the above answerer, (Rather politely, I
thought) I am declining an offer of sex. And doing so in a way that used
only euphemism, instead of explicit language. My intent here was quite
obviously not an attempt to "Arouse" anyone, or to procure sex, but to
do no more than titilate. In the sense that the question was asked. And
the big cock was not intended to "elicit a sexual response" just to add
innuendo again. I assure you there was no intent of solicitation, in the
slightest, and it can be plainly seen, that this was not my intent. So I
respectfully ask that it is re-posted.
Thank you, Judge Badbeast.

Here's my favourite, a whiny letter I sent them, and their response.

Dear Team,
I would like to draw your attention to the worst outburst of malicious
and gratuitous reporting I have ever seen in here.
In the past week, dozens of accounts from the Religion and Spirituality
section have been suspended, some without any notification, and all with
no appeal process at all. This has been systematically perpetrated by an
organised Cadre of Top Reporters, from the Cats section, with  no reason
other than malice. They have been passing hit lists of targetted victims
between themselves, and openly gloating on the boards. People's whole
contact lists have been suspended, in a matter of days. There is also
the unsavoury fact that this is being done, with Yahoo Staff collusion.
Members of the Yahoo Staff, have been emailing Reporters in the Cats
section, who have supplied them with "Hitlists". Then the Staff have
suspended the users passed on to them. The main instigators of this
abuse, in the Cat's section are, CafĂ© Mocha Valencia,  Kitten Cat, Rapid
Fire, Slithren, glendawright91, and Khayos. There are more, too. The
members of Yahoo Staff who are colluding,
are Carmen, and Lou, apparently. I have a forwarded email, that was
sent by Rapid Fire, gloating about what they had done, to one of my
suspended contacts, naming the two members of staff involved in enabling
this concerted purge, (Carmen and Lou) I think when you look at the
extent of this bullying campaign, and the amount of undeserving victims
who have fallen to these people, it will be apparent what a huge abuse
of the reporting system is being perpetrated here. I think it would go a
long way to repairing the damage, if the victims of this campaign, were
at least given a fair chance at appeal, by the Appeals Team,
bearing in mind the nature and level of this abuse. I believe I'm doing
the right thing by
drawing your attention to this disgraceful behaviour, by a minority of
the community, and hope you can at least make sure it stops, here.
Yours Sincerely BadBeast

And their reply had me apoplectic

My Appeal

I am respectfully requesting that you look again at the removal of my
question.
It doesn't break any of the Community Guidelines, or Terms of service.
(The terms of which, I am well familiarised with) It follows the
question and answer format, contains no disrespectful or abusive
content, or insulting of other users, nor does it refer to any sexually
explicit subject, does not address any individual, group, or
controversial event. It doesn't  incite other users to break any Law, or
rule, contains no link to any commercial venture, or irrelevant or
contraversial  material. There is no malware, or spamming involved, and
indeed, the violation notice despatched to me, is unable to even give
any reason for the removal.

(quote;  Violation Reason:  ?Violating the Community Guidelines or TOS

termination of your Answers account without warning. In extreme cases,
violations may result in the termination of your Yahoo! ID,  etc,)

So it seems that either the reason for removal was mistakenly omitted
from the VN, or that your abuse team can't actually find any Violation
Reason for the removal either.
Also, there is the matter that i was sent two VN's for this Question,
and docked twice the amount of points, so could you please rectify this
mistake too.
Thank you for your diligence, and swiftness in bringing this matter to
my attention, I trust also, you will employ the same efficiency and
speed of action, in rectifying the matter.

Hello BadBeast

It has been reported that you have posted content to Yahoo! Answers in

Violation Reason: Misuse of the question and answer format

In Yahoo! Answers you must phrase questions in question format, and your
answer must attempt to answer the question. Questions or answers must be
written in a comprehensible way, and must be written in the language
specific to the Answers site to which it is uploaded. You may not post
conversational content without an attempt to post a meaningful question

---------------------------------------------

First appeal.

I have just recieved a violation notice informing me that a question I
posted has been removed. The notice goes on to inform me that any
question posted must be in question format, (grammatically and
contextually, it conformed to the accepted definition of "Question"
without a doubt) It then went on to inform me that all questions must be
written in a comprehensible way. Well, I have a Masters Degree in
English Language, from King's College, Oxford, and I know how to present
a simple question, in a way that any Ten year old child can understand.
Also, it reminds me that my post must be in the language specific to the
answer site, to which the post was uploaded. Unless I am very much
mistaken, that Language would be English. As was the question in
dispute. It then  tells me I may not post "contraversial content,
without an attempt to post a meaningful question". Well, I hardly
consider sitting in a tree, dressed as a Pirate, as contraversial, do
you? A
little surreal perhaps, but hardly contraversial. And as to whether or
not my question was meaninful, there were over twenty answers to the
question, in a fairly short amount of time, so obviously some people
found it meaningful enough to merit a response. It is on these grounds
that I
submit this appeal, to have my material re-instated, as I cannot see how
it contravenes any of the stated terms of service, or community
guidelines. I will be happy to accept the removal of this material, if
you can show me, specifically where the aforesaid question falls foul of
any stated rule. I have pasted the original notice of violation under
this email, so you can easily access any details you may need, and
please feel free to contact me, if there is anything else you need to
know.
I have followed the instructions you sent, regarding your appeal
process, so I do not expect to recieve your automated response,
informing me that you cannot enter into personal dialogue over
individual deletions, then listing the terms and conditions, (of which I
am very much aware)
Yours sincerly,  BadBeast

Answer from Yahoo,

Thanks for writing to Yahoo! Answers Customer Care.

Thank you for your query regarding the Question and Answer content that
was recently removed from Yahoo! Answers.

We cannot enter into personal dialogue over individual deletions,
however content is generally deleted if it is in violation of the
Answers' community guidelines.

Some of the reasons that questions and answers might be deleted include:

"    Posting Abusive Content (or links to content, including photos):
Including referencing the harming of minors, violence, racism, abuse,
threats, slander, violation of any applicable laws, profanity, vulgarity
or sexually explicit language, that glorification of self-harm, suicide,
anorexia, bulimia, commercial or advertising, rant, posting personal
ads, violating the Yahoo! Answers Community Guidelines or the Yahoo!
Terms of Service in any manner.
"    Chatting or Personal Communications

I WASN'T HAVING THAT! They hadn't even read it! So,

Might I draw this to the attention of your appeals department. This is
the second time i have appealed this deletion, and it seems you have
neglected to either re-instate my posting, or provide any reason why it
was deleted.Or, indeed, even look at my letter, as I specifically
requested that it did not just get an automated  letter back. And what
did i get? My appeal sent straight back to me, with the Terms and
Conditions, (none of which were broken by my original posting)a response
that I specifically
requested you not to send. A DETAIL YOU MAY HAVE MISSED, DUE TO THE FACT
YOU NEVER EVEN READ MY EMAIL! If you are going to claim that there is
some kind of Appeal Process going on here, the least you can do would be
to do me the courtesy of READING MY CORRESPONDENCE.Before you dismiss it
out of hand. Now, if you are not the appeals department, can you kindly
forward this email to the correct address, and make sure you take the
trouble to remove your own address from the VN emails, to avoid
confusion in the future. If you are the appeals department, THEN CAN YOU
KINDLY DO THE JOB YOU ARE CLAIMING TO DO, AND PUT MY APPEAL THROUGH SOME
KIND OF SATISFACTORY SEMBLANCE OF AN APPEAL PROCESS! Why pretend you are
going through an appeal process when you are not?

Could hardly believe it when they upheld my appeal.

Photobucket took my Tubgirl down!
But at least Y/A haven't managed to keep me out yet. So there's plenty of material for this thread.

Thank you very much. There are some great Trolls on Y/A though. They have been having a real purge for the last few months, so the survivors tend to get a bit wary. I lost five accounts, (one of them a level 6) in three hours not so long ago. Along with another 40 odd other people, we went on a Safari into the "Cats" section. And were totally unprepared for the brutality of the Regime in there. A more ruthless and vengeful body of people I have yet to encounter. They may even develop in time, to be the Fourth Reich. Not only did they take all our primary accounts, but also our contacts lists, all their accounts, and every backup account they could find. It was like some sort of Feline Supremicist Pogrom. Haven't been near the Cats since. They have an elite excursion and assassination squad that could put Mossad to shame. Grudgy as fuck, too. Worse than even the Pregnant women, for taking offence. The question about how to get dried semen out of a cat's  fur was my particular favourite though. That or the breastmilk one.

fuck - sounds like cat owners have finally had enough of our bullshit!

Thing is, it seems they are just as prone to infighting over issues like "If let your cat go out or not"   Or "To de-claw or not"  And some of the most tenacious cat Trolls, have kitteh screen names, which confuses the Cat people. Their sense of humour is non existent, and the thing that really gets to them is the knowledge, that they will never, ever get the joke. And if they do, the fear of finding out they'd been the joke all along would finish them off.
Evil does indeed have a face, and that face is Feline.

And here's today's violation/appeal details.

Original VN.
Hi Judge BadBeast,

The answer you gave on Yahoo! Answers was reported by the Answers community:

"It "makes it really hard" for me, y'know, all that smut, what's with that? If people have a "bona" fide question, they should "put it in" a proper and legible way. "Cumming on" to total strangers is kinda slutty, doncha think? Yahoo should "take them in hand" and get every "jerk off" the site for good! Because it's so "hard on" other users, who obey the rules!"

Thanks,
Yahoo! Answers Team
So, of course, I appealed.

Dear Team, In what way, exactly have I violated the Terms and Conditions this time? Only I couldn't fail to see there was no 'Reason for Violation Notice' included. If you read my post, out loud, you can see there is nothing profane, explicit, offensive, or contraversial in it, so please put it back, and stop interfering with my bloody content! Thank you very much!
Badbeast.

And I just got the Appeal decision

Hi BadBeast,

Thank you for taking the time to submit an appeal. Upon review, we found the following answer was not in violation of the Answers Community Guidelines:
"It "makes it really hard" for me, y'know, all that smut, what's with that? If people have a "bona" fide question, they should "put it in" a proper and legible way. "Cumming on" to total strangers is kinda slutty, doncha think? Yahoo should "take them in hand" and get every "jerk off" the site for good! Because it's so "hard on" other users, who obey the rules!"The Yahoo! Answers Team regrets that your answer was wrongfully reported by the Answers community. Your answer has been reposted to Yahoo! Answers, and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
As a result of your appeal, the people who reported your answer will have less influence when reporting abuse in the future..

Thanks,
Yahoo! Answers Team

I love winning appeals from these dropkicks.   :lulz:
