Title: ITT: We plan the Dok's arrival on the East Coast.
Post by: Suu on May 19, 2010, 01:32:06 PM
Since it's what? 2 weeks away?!

Plan is thus far, Richter will be getting you from the airport. If he can't for whatever reason, the busline from TF Green TF Green TF Green goes right by my apartment.

However, my manager has made it perfectly clear she either hates me or is incapable of paying attention to my availability, so there's a chance I will have a total of ONE day off the whole time you're here.  :|

Why? It's not Pixie that's visiting...

Did Dok resign from his post as Rain God while I wasn't paying attention?

Yes. When Roger died he passed it on to Payne, who passed it on to Pixie. This is why our weather has been exceptionally miserable lately, poor thing.

are there concrete dates for this yet? I neet to know ASAP if I'm going to try to get irregular days off.

Unless, of course, you spags are actually going to brave the wild northlands and come for a visit.

June 9-14, and I think their weekend is taken.  I am to be whisked off to some reenactment where I will be subjected to rubes eating mud pies, and jackasses walking around in Klingon outfits.

That'll work.  Friday is probably best, as I will be arriving on Wednesday afternoon, with all the inevitable chaos associated with it.

Will be free, I think.  Richter and Suu are both working, and I was planning on amusing myself for the first half of the day.  This should make things easier.

The only bummer here is that I was kind of hoping to have at least one day as a group where we could go nuts, but you can't have everything.

I am incredibly excited about this! WOOT WOOT!!! The only question I have is how much $$$$ will I need for all these shenanigans? I have a bit of money frommy tuition rebate check, but a lot of it needs to go to getting my lisence back. I would like to participate in as many activities as possible, I just need to make sure I have the cash for it.

Not much $$$.  I asked Richter not to make too many plans that involve everyone spending money, as times are tight for most folks.  I want to run into you guys, but I don't want everyone spending themselves into the ground.

In that area, TC's Pub is the closest you'll get to seedy.  But I shan't argue, being both a hipster and a beer snob.

True...but it's still kinda divey. It's not like I'm going to be epic fail and take him to Dick's Last Resort, because that's not like it used to be. I also know of a divey pub downtown on Kingston, but finding a place that has a food menu is ideal, since he doesn't drink, but the atmosphere is key.

...Never been to TC's. Is it everything I could hope for and more?

I must agree with LMNO regarding TC's over Bukowski's. TC's is a goddam dive in the pure sense, with a surprisingly decent beer selection for those interested.

What time are the Boston shenanigans happening on the 11th? Depending on timing I should be able to make it out and about after work (post-6PM) to revel in the madness. Otherwise I must only bask in the reflected glow of awesome.

I know I can hang for lunch in Copley (which includes TC's).

For later that evening, I still have to rope Mrs LMNO into it, but we can go anywhere in the city.

This seems like an appropriate time to mourn the loss of the Blue Moon, as that place woulda been perfect.

Unless, of course, you spags are actually going to brave the wild northlands and come for a visit.

June 9-14, and I think their weekend is taken.  I am to be whisked off to some reenactment where I will be subjected to rubes eating mud pies, and jackasses walking around in Klingon outfits.

goddammit, you scheduled this right in between my days off. What tiem are you leaving on the 14th? Best I can probably do is get a day shift on the 13th and come down that night. I should have the 14th off, so maybe if nothing else someone can put me up for the night of the 13th and we can go terrorize some Massholes. You staying in Mass or RI?

It's also a tragedy that you're not coming a week earlier, or you'd be invited up to Tommy Guns' family camp, which is on an island in the middle of a remote lake in the hinterlands of west-central Maine. It's an entire weekend of shooting things and eating whatever you shoot (and I mean WHATEVER you shoot) and terrorizing the fancy-pants summer cabins on the south end of the lake. Also we tend to drink way too much whiskey and find things to jump off of. And all the dumb shit we do is covered for by the fact that one of the core members of the clique is a County Sheriff who isn't afraid to let the terrorized citizens know that no matter what retarded shit we're doing, "it's OK, I'm a cop."

He wants seedy shit, so you're taking him to Bukowskis, which caters to hipsters and beer snobs?

In that area, TC's Pub is the closest you'll get to seedy.  But I shan't argue, being both a hipster and a beer snob.

I'm okay with hipsters and beer snobs.  Oh, yes, I'm just fine with them.

They don't cotton to me, much, for some reason.

Yeah, but:

If you want to fuck with people who live off the ignorance of HORRIBLE TROOF, there are better places to go than Bukowski's.

And if you want to revel in the seediness, there are, once again, better places to go than Bukowski's.

But if you want a decent beer in a place that tries to eschew upper class pretension, then Bukowski's is pretty good.

Since you don't drink, and haven't specifically requested the scene where the Blues Brothers recruit Mr. Fabulous, then TC's "Lounge" is the best choice.

So, if I'm reading this thread correctly, there will be shenanigans in Boston on Friday, June 11th? If so, I am totally willing to make that trek to hang out for a day (before heading down to New Jersey that same Sunday for a Jethro Tull concert). Although, let me know if you guys plan on going someplace that won't allow under-21's; I don't want to hold up the fun by being the young tagalong.

I got really nervous thinking about this the other night. I mean, going to meet up with complete strangers that I met on some "cult" website. What would my friends and family think? After I got over that, all I could think about is me saying something stupid and embarassing myself. God, I'm a really little fish in this pond, and I'm not entirely used to that feeling, because where I usually hang out, I'm the Kraken.

Ok, I'm done being all queer.

I've had nothing but a horrible time meeting with people from this site.  Suu introduced herself by taking measurements and muttering things about what a nice mannequin I would make.  Dimo dragged me into mosh pit happenings and stepped on my arms, Richter repeatedly slapped me with a glove to provoke a duel.  GS was the worst, he just stared.  And stared.  It took three weeks for me to be able to close my eyes without seeing it.  Lizzie dragged me through seedy parts of San Francisco, at one point even making me use a McDonald's restroom, until I took an opportunity at a red light to flee into the subway system.  I can't begin to describe what happened there, and even if I could it has little to do with the meeting.

Considering proximity to LMNO for lunch, I would assume Back Bay Station.

Also, my schedule is as follows, HOWEVER, I got totally shafted for hours this week, so I desperately need to make money. I may pick up a Friday night shift. I don't have a choice. I need to eat, and my manager is a cunt who ignored my requests and hired her friends and gave them all the good shifts. So I had to do some switcharoo to even get to fight practice this week when she KNOWS that I can't work Monday and Thursday nights...because I have to remind her 24 year old holier-than-thou ass every fucking week. This also means that my funds will be at a minimum as well.

Wednesday: Out at 6
Thursday: Out at 5, Fencing til 10.
Friday: Off, may go in at 6.
Saturday: Out at 5, may vie for a double.
Sunday: Off, intend to pick up shift.

Well, then. How do you entertain the man who hates everything? Hell, we'll give it a shot.

We will march on a road of bones, you and I.

Like I said I have that Thursday free until work, so I'll see if I can swing down that area as well.

I will have monday and tuesday off. I could drive down sunday night, if anyone is still gonna be hanging out at 3am, but otherwise I'm definitely coming down on monday. Somebody could win my undying allegiance by offering crash space for monday night, or at least a driveway so I can camp out in my truck without fear of being harassed by the local constabulary.

On the other hand, if I arrive early enough, I should be done with the colon check by the time he de-planes.
