I know none of you care much about Australian politics since none of you really are Australian, but, WE JUST GOT A NEW, FIRST, FEMALE PRIME MINISTER!!
Like, LITERALLY, OVERNIGHT.
No one voted for it, it just *HAPPENED*, like fucking *MAGIC*.
And yet, why do I still think we're fucked no matter who's in power?? :x
Yay they're switching puppets now for the second act of Illuminati punch and judy!
The riots this will cause will be AWESOME.
We did this dance with Blair and Brown three years ago. Even the same party name. Only the vote there was even more of a stitch-up, since Brown and Blair had pre-arranged the entire thing more than a decade earlier, at least this seems somewhat unplanned, in how the Labour party hadn't already determined who would be the designated successor.
I'm having problems finding out her actual political views though. All I've seen is that she was part of the socialist faction in Labour after leaving University - probably along with 90% of Labour recruits her age, so that means nothing.
Also, she seems to have a history of being wrong

You never gave a proper chance to guess you antipodean fuck! I'd so have gotten that one too :argh!:
Parliamentary systems are wack. Why can't you have a popular vote system like us NORMAL countries in the world?!
We have a popular vote system? Last I checked it was more like the choice of being urethrally fucked by either a man with a bottle brush or a man with a mostly - dulled drill bit.

Yes. But that's what they want you to believe. The truth is that the mind-control rays from the Pentagon embed memories that we actually vote on voting days when we don't, and the Electoral College is really just a lottery to help the states figure out what color they're going to be wearing to the party that night.
It's scary how much sense that would make.
I'd know if it was mind rays though. I used to settle bar bets for the nice folks from project BITCHHAMMER by discerning a ThoughtPro 45 from a MindWave 128.

Yeah, I don't know a hell of a lot about her myself, but from what I *do* know, I don't like it.
But that's my general feelings towards all politicians anyway.
Interesting times indeed, though, I must say.
It's an indication of the laziness and complacency inherent in both sides of the whole system. It used to be the voting public would be all -wavy fisted - and - out on strike - and the politicians would be all "srsly folks - this is all real" but it's gotten to the stage where now the politicians are like "yeah it's all bullshit but what you gonna do" and the voting public are all "watch reruns of 'Yes Minister' and grumble a bit" :lulz:

We have a voting system blessed by the goddess herself, I do believe.

One of the teachers here from Australia seemed excited, but that may be because the minister in question was in charge of education and so may focus more on it as PM. Maybe. I dunno.
They have education in Australia? Jesus fuck, is nothing sacred? :argh!:
Well, "education". You've got to know where to hit an Abo to cause permament damage, and which country we're bombing this week (ie the one America told us we are, and East Timor). It's a simple cirriculum, for simple people.

:aaa: What????
Isn't Kevin Rudd soo cute?
And I thought American politics were funny. I should have known that the Australians would make no sense whatsoever.
They do all of their politicing upside down.
I love the lulz generated by people ringing up radio stations, and writing letters to the paper, and the media giving them airtime.
Such things like:
"We didn't vote for Julia we voted for Kevin"
uh, no it is the Westminster system, unless you live in their electorate you voted for neither.
And:
"How could she just backstab Kevin like that?"
Umm, that's kinda how Kevin got his job, and THAT'S FUCKING HOW POLITICS WORKS, GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ARSE!
Oh I forgot the best one:
"To become the president of the US you have to be born in America, why do we have a Welsh born prime minister?"
:lulz:
For the record 6/27 PMs have been born overseas.

Yeah, it's not that unusual I think. I've heard that several Americans have been heads of state of other countries.
Of course, that's part of our world domination plan. Remember the Republics of Texas and Hawaii? Yep.
Hmm, well the invasion has already started here, our state premier is from Vegas.

Excellent! Once we have sufficiently taken over you government and have turned it into a federal presidential republic, a clearly flawless system. We can then start introducing legislation to adopt the US Constitution, adding a few more stars to the flag and removing import tariffs on Fosters and whatever else you guys give us. You may keep your accents however. They are charming.

Uh, because we're not America, and so have made our own rules?
Next thing they'll be asking is why the drinking age isn't raised to 21, or pleading the 5th in Australian Federal courts.
