Tornado warning! It's coming off the Bay right for us!
:jebus:
I hear it...lights are flickering...oh i'm so damn happy i got to be here for a good storm. If I had to guess, i'd say we're getting 10-15 strikes a minute, and the worst of it is still a few miles out.

Keep your head down. We are supposed to catch hell starting at midnight.
20 strikes per minute. All claps within 2 miles. Cat and dog freaking out. :jebus:
Everything is unplugged. No tornado yet. Just had over 800 strikes recorded in 30 seconds in this one cell. Tampa RULES.

Damn. Our thunderstorms SUCK out here.
Great storms were the one redeeming feature of the midwest.

I live in tornado alley, or where it was before it relocated to the east coast. But we still get some hum dingers here.
I can't get anything on my phone as far a pics. :(
It looks like the worst of it is bypassing our part of Clearwater. But I'm not putting my guard down just yet.
Oh hey, hail.
GAH
101 degrees expected tomorrow with a heat index of up to 112 degrees.
Storm was bunk. btw.

I beg to differ. I hate Tampa.
Btw, FL is storm panic central. Every time a dark cloud forms in the sky the weathermen start frothing.
Do you guys not get a lot of lightning storms up north? This shit is every day during the summer here. It's annoying.
Squid- cranky old cuss.
I got used to them down there. For Tampa Bay, something is WRONG if your power doesn't go off at least once during a thunderstorm. My brother and I sat outside in the tiki hut the other day when we had a bad one with beers counting the flashes.
In Rhode Island, we get nasty thunderstorms in the summer much like Florida, but they aren't as frequent and cause massive street flooding very fast, so the can be scary if you're not at home. In the winter we get thundersnow, which is always an interesting experience.
Ooh. Another storm.

Ooh. Another storm.
Quit hogging them. I haven't seen a proper thunderstorm for years!
:argh!:
You should come live on my mountain. We had three weeks of blazing hot, perfect weather, about a week of fog (which is fun, since visibility can go down to 5 metres or less) and about a week of completely awesome thunderstorms. We got fork lightning going across the mountain range, we can see the storm coming up the valley (with the thunder coming up to a minute after the lightning strikes) and it's just fantastic to sit in your room and watch it build up into some epic storming.
3 second count on the last strike. That's about half a mile away.
Yeah. I don't think we've had any hit our actual mountain yet, though we had one which was very close, going by the volume of the thunder (which made several dozen people fall out of their chairs, and me snort coffee out of my nose at seeing them do it).
That sounds incredible Cain. I'm terribly envious.
After my girlfriend finishes her master's degree in a few years we will be poised to do some traveling.
So stay put in the interim and we'll visit.
Unfortunately, I've only got another 2-5 weeks here, depending on the particulars. I'll be back visiting frequently though, as a relative has landed a job here, and I can use her flat when she's not there ie; all summer.
I haven't seen lightning from a mountain since I was six. THAT is some heavy shit right there.
Florida storms? More like SNOREida storms AMIRITE?
:x

That shit's awesome. My uncle lives on a big hill in the south of France and I remember the epicness of seeing hundreds of miles light up under sheet lightening.
Over here we've had one weak rumble this year. :argh!: I thought it was my neighbour taking the bins out.
Also if you are in the area Net, I advise skipping right by Geneva and getting into Lausanne. You can get a train direct from the airport, Lausanne prices are cheaper, it is the party capital of Switzerland with some truly awesome clubs and if you really want to visit Geneva (which is good for a few days) the train runs direct from Lausanne on a near hourly basis, and at a very affordable price.

Yeah, British storms are teh suck. Even that hurricane which they never shut up about was a let down on that front.
Apparently I'm bringing a hurricane home with me. His name is Colin.

I don't think much will come of it.
It will just barely be touching Bermuda by Sunday.
One can hope though. :(

...
Lol @ Colon Storm.
Rich, if this comes for us, I'm declaring a beach day at Beavertail. I mean Colon + Beaver...
YES. We need to hit the beach to watch the storm with a gallon milk jug of appauling "Sweaty taint" brew.
That and the sheer hysteria of a hurricane in Rhode Island is amusing to me.

Also go to Berlin, it's not really near Switzerland, but on the same continent, and it's my #1 favourite big city in Europe as of now. I can heartily recommend the hostel I stayed at, especially if you come with your gf, get the appartment suite at 5th floor for 85 euro/night (price is for 2 persons), it's got a ridiculously high concentration of awesome places in just a few streets radius.
Also also, visit me if you're in Europe :) Which again is far away from both Switzerland and Berlin, but yeah. Or, any other place in NL, I will come and meet up.
