I'll consider this my Apple Talk contributions to The Jack of All Forums Challenge (http://www.principiadiscordia.com/forum/index.php?topic=26342.msg926426#msg926426)

Long story short, a Chinese lawyer is suing a cinema for wasting her time with 20 minutes of advertisements before the movie she went to watch. She's basically suing for ~$11. I think this is awesome, and I know that the increasing obtrusiveness of commerialism is a common theme here, I thought that it would be appreciated. Hopefully discussion will spark other ideas for other parts of my challenge.
Also, I if anyone could post links to other threads discussing combatting commercials here, I might be able to formulate something original for O:MF
This ( http://www.tvbgone.com ) gadget works on television commercials.
How do they work?
But commercials are a valuable look into modern culture, an objective glimpse into our real cultural attitudes!

True, but the question is at this point if commercials are a look into our cultural attitudes or if our cultural attitudes are a reflection of our commercials. I think that at this point commercials serve to affect culture rather than reflect.
btw- next time I stay over I'm throwing your coffee over the porch and insult your ability to make it.

A little bit of both. In the sense of the coffee commercial its presenting to a target audience, saying "bitch you'd better make good coffee 'cause that's what you're here for." If it wasn't somewhat accurate at the time they wouldn't have picked that target and then fostered it with several commercials like that.
Their new foldgers commercial has an almost elderly dad making the coffee for his grown up daughter who still lives with him.
For the other commercial, we were shitting on the asians way before jello was.
And I wouldn't notice you insulting my coffee, I'd be too busy making you a sammich :)
