Woo!
Why didn't you go to grad school?
I dare you to stand up during midterms and yell "ARE YOU FUCKING TESTING ME?"

Is a masters in graphic design worth anything these days? NO. I'd still be waiting fucking tables.
My professor is a nutjob. This is a good thing. The focus of the class is the middle ages from 300-1000, so all the dirty shit going on in the Dark Ages, like the RIP ACROSS EUROPE CELTS, RIGHT RICHTER?!
I have to write a term paper and have my topic and outline done in 2 weeks. I'm thinking either something on Byzantine Iconoclastic Periods and the effect they had on the Church or How stealing the silkworm helped shape the Byzantine Empire economically...I have time.

The only reason to get one is to teach.

Yes. To teach students that will never have a job because it's a saturated market. Fuck that. At least with history, I can get my teaching certificate and teach in secondary schools if I have to. I'm convinced there's not enough good history teachers in the world.

I've had a number of jobs in the market. It's competitive as hell, but it's not like a degree guarantees you a job.
Of course, they were quite up front about how hard I'd have to work my ass off, so maybe you were mislead or something.

Let's do it. Because even though I'm totally going for my Masters in Historical Costume and Textiles, I'll need something to do during that.
Also....FUCKING FINANCIAL AID!!!
I couldn't get a hold of anyone at my campus, so I called the main one. My refund card was never made because for whatever reason I wasn't picked up on in the system, so they're sending me one finally. And the rest of my grants haven't been disbursed yet but they will be. Way to get me all riled up. :argh!: Meanwhile, I have books to buy. :argh!: Since I won't have my refund card before next week's classes, I had to apply for credit at the bookstore so I can have my damn texts. I'll just buy them used and resell them on eBay or Amazon myself, and next semester I'll rent what I don't want to keep.
The bookstore also managed to bork my history books, so I have to get them off of Amazon no matter what. Fortunately they're cheap enough. In fact, both of them together are cheaper than each of my other books individually.
You might want to ask your teachers if you really need the latest edition books for your classes. One of my teachers designed his classes so that students could use any of the three previous editions. I was able to get older editions used for about 1/10 of what a new book cost.
The history books are cheap...because history hasn't changed much, or at least in the time period my class is covering. My geography book on the other hand, is almost $200, and I have to have the latest edition which just came out in February.
Remember to search http://avaxhome.ws/ebooks and http://gigapedia.com/ for all your academic book needs as well.
Much appreciated. Since I have reading to do before my books come in.

That's true of a lot of subjects. How much has Algebra, or Calculus changed in the last 50 years? For that matter, how much has Geology changed?
$200 is ridiculous. Is it a huge book? I ask, because the most expensive book I had to buy was for Engineering Fundamentals. It was $140, and fairly small. Also, the class was useless.

I'm inclined to agree. That's Suu, me, and probably others, right?
Me. Dunno about anyone else.

I haven't picked it up yet. I'm hoping my school has a used copy. I would rent it, but see also: Financial aid delay.
Oh my goodness, them's some expensive books
The grand total at the bookstore today was $345.30 FOR 3 DAMN BOOKS.. :x
Not counting my Amazon order of $38.95...also for 3 books.
Fucking school.

Yes. That saved me my reading for last week....Too bad it's dry as fuck. Ugh. I printed it out so I could highlight, and I'm sitting there today in the library feeling the need for eyedrops and a huge glass of water.
"And this emperor got killed because this praetorian didn't like him, so the praetorian declared himself emperor and then he was killed 3 months later by his regiment in Germania because they wanted someone else to be emperor but in Thrace there was another emperor who was declared and then killed..."
FUCKING ROME. HOW DID IT WORK?!

"And then Diocletian was named emperor. And there was much rejoicing...he died 20 years later by killing himself in a fever."
The Years of Anarchy...as much as I love Roman history there's only so much of this I can take. Fuck. I actually have a whole chapter on Diocletian to cover yet, but it's sooo dryyyyyyyy....
the books arent really killing me this semester its all the sewing and sculpture supplies :x i cant download those

Hm, how affordable are e-readers these days? If they support highlighting and go for under $200 that might actually be an economic choice for Suu?
I think the newest Kindle is about $150, I'm not sure whether Kindles support non-Amazon eBooks, though.
They do when the texts are converted through Stanza (freeware).

Not all of my books are available on PDF...Like my $145 geography book that was probably outdated the day it was printed. This thing weighs a ton.
