QuotePROVIDENCE, R.I. — Kara D. Russo, who lost the Republican primary for lieutenant governor, filed a legal complaint with the state Board of Elections Monday that seeks to reverse the decision by GOP primary winner Heidi Rogers to drop out of the race to improve the election chances for Robert J. Healey, head of the Cool Moose party.

Long story short, out of 2 million people, like only 1500 in the state of RI are registered Republicans. (I'm probably exaggerating.) Anytime something happens and they don't get represented because the entire state hates them, they get cranky and pull shit like this. There are currently NO Republican candidates that I know of for the Governor or the Mayor of Providence running, and if there is, they're hiding under an independent platform.

GOP: "Waaaah, nobody in Rhode Island likes us! We need to run! We have rights too you know!"
Dems: "STFU."

Also, I can't WAIT

So the GOP candidate doesn't want to split the vote for something called the Cool Moose party?  Wow, the RIGOP truly suck.

They're not right.

I think the Cool Moose Party is RI's answer to the Tea Party. It's not as batshit but still conservative enough to keep some of the GOP happy...apparently it's not working.

Though I have to admit I'm not sure how I would feel if the candidate I voted for and got the nomination suddenly decided to step down for someone else. They cheated, which is pretty common around here...but people are starting to notice, and I think that's a sign that the state may just be coming around to notice the bullshit that goes on.

Or I could just be joking.

It's actually a farse party used to steal votes from the larger parties. So by withdrawing from the ballot, this put the CM nominee in the place of the Republican nominee, this pissing off the Republican who LOST and is totally butthurt and ordering the GOP to name her the nominee.

LOL RHODE ISLAND.

Something like that. I dunno...This state is so corrupt members of the BNP could run and no one would even notice the English accents.

http://www.projo.com/news/content/RUSSO_COMPLAINT_HEARING_09-23-10_1RK0TRH_v31.231e4d0.html

QuotePROVIDENCE — The state Board of Elections declined Wednesday to overturn Republican Heidi Rogers' withdrawal from the lieutenant governor's race. Keven A. McKenna, the lawyer for defeated candidate Kara D. Russo, who filed a legal complaint with the board on Monday, said he will now appeal the decision to the Rhode Island Supreme Court.

Rogers defeated Russo in the Republican primary on Sept. 14 and withdrew from the race a few days later. She said she did so to improve the chances of independent candidate Robert J. Healey Jr., of the Cool Moose Party, of winning over incumbent Democrat Elizabeth H. Roberts. Both Healey and Rogers have argued that the office is a waste of taxpayers' money and should be eliminated.

So...not only did the GOP loser get the finger, and now they're appealing to the state supreme court, but their candidate who withdrew as well as the Independent nominee...want to get rid of the damn office they ran for!!

They want to eliminate the office of liutenant governor?  Who do they want in charge if the governor gets killed?

Secretary of State.

The LT. Governor of RI notoriously does nothing. You sit in a big office, get a big paycheck, and pretty much do NOTHING.

QuoteFrom the outset of campaign season, several candidates advocated eliminating the office. They argued, why pay $99,000 to someone whose official duty is to replace the governor if he or she dies or becomes incapacitated? And why pay their staff? (All acknowledged that the only way to eliminate it is through constitutional revision).
