Does anyone on here have a DeviantArt account? If so, what is it? Mine is http://jenu1.deviantart.com
As a side note, is anyone on here a fan of anime/manga? If so, which ones and why?
Oh Boy, this is going to be interesting.

Nope, and nope/nope. At least not on my end.
The best thing about Anime is that it keeps goons in their basements and not out in the sunlight where I have to see them.
I'm partial to trigun
I watched it as a kid, but I've mostly grown out of it. There are exceptions. Mostly mature (read: not childish and not porn) content that doesn't pander as much as a lot of anime. A lot of it I simply can't watch, either due to completely predictable plots, poor art, fucking irritating voice actors, or plain old shittiness.

Seriously! I'm gone for a month and have to come back to this shit?
I hate deviantArt. I hate devianTARTs who sell their prints at anime cons and make my life miserable because all they do is shiny digital shit and could use a pen and ink to save their fucking Art Institute of Whatever City asses.
I only like anime because I can capitalize off of it and sweep masquerades these days, which is why I'm not allowed to compete a lot anymore.
Like most things in society, anime seems to have generally sucked since the 70s and 80s. I'm thinking primarily of the serialized shows like Voltron, Battle of the Planets, etc., That was good stuff.

Me too, also Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. And the season of Zoids that was first released in the states.
-sigh-
So much hate and anger and stuff.
I still enjoy a couple series and movies. I get sick of seeing shows about high school aged kids or high school though. I'm past that, thank you, and I don't want to re - live it.
It really soured for me in last "Firefly" game I was in. It got spagged up by romance novel / anime crossover characters who would scream around, roleplaying bad goth romance when everyone else was trying to have a normal 'Verse styled experience. Granted, this was bad GM'ing at fault, but it reminded me why the fans fucking piss me off. I'm not a hyperactive kitten like them anymore. I'm turning into a grumpy bastard who wants the screachy fucks off my lawn.
I dig Studio Ghibli stuff, and have a weird fascination with certain anime (like, anything that ISN'T a Sailor Moon or Pokemon clone).
My girl and I just watched the 2 "Tower of Druaga (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tower_of_Druaga)" series, which seemed to be a mashup of Sumerian/Babalonian mythology (the Gilgamesh story), and a Namco video game from 1984. It's on Hulu.
EDIT:: I also kinda share Suu's opinion of DeviantART. There are some very good artists on there, but the overall environment feels like doodle-chan.
Studio Ghibli has mastered the fine art of telling you an old story while displaying a near hallucinogenic world. That's how I explain "Ponyo", which while well executed, had the intellectual content of "Happy Feet".
I'll see "Howl" and "Nasca" if I have a chance, but their high water mark was still "Princess Mononoke" IMHO
A discussion on PD about anime/manga has remained a discussion on PD about anime/manga.
Just in case anybody missed that.

Ponyo is mesmerizingly beautiful. And Richter, it doesn't matter how intellectual it is with an earworm like
PONYO PONYO PONYO PONYO LITTLE FISH
SHE'S A LITTLE FISH IN THE DEEP BLUE SEA
PONYO PONYO PONYO SHE'S A LITTLE GIRL
Can't. Shake. The Cuteness.

Basically, this. I used to watch a bit of anime when I was younger. Then I stopped caring, and now I restrict it to stuff that either comes VERY highly recommended by friends, or Miyazaki/Miyazaki-esque movies. It's just not worth my time to sift through the poop to find the gold nuggets. That's a job for a different breed of nerd than I.
As for DevArt, I made an account once, long ago, to look at some stuff a friend directed me to that I couldn't view unless I made an account. The password to that one is lost to the sands of time.
It's not really anime, but I liked Appleseed. But I'm liable to enjoy anything if it involves sci fi/action.
I think that's a pretty clear answer as to the consensus of this board.
Anyway, as far as anime goes, I agree most high-school drama/shoujo/shonen/magic anime is pretty dumb. But I'm a huge fan of Ghibli studios and there are some anime series that I really like. So, idk. I guess I haven't completely grown out of it yet, although I'm sure I will eventually.
Is GTO considered highschool drama?
Highschool drama is _usually_ shoujo. I wouldn't know about GTO since I haven't seen it, but shonen is generally not considered a high-school drama like what I was referring.

Full Metal Alchemist and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood: A+
Ghost In The Shell (Movies and Series): A++
Studio Ghibli's stuff... "Underwater Train is Very Nice!": A++
Paprika: OHOLISHI A+++
Some anime is amazing, lots of it is crap... pretty much like all other forms of entertainment.

I liked Death Note, and there was an anime that was based on the story of The Count of Monte Cristo which looked quite interesting, but that aside most anime seems as facile as every other genre, catering to the "creepy emotionless girl"-loving, misogynistic, basement dwelling, high-school attending crowd.
Japanese guys have really fucked taste. I've heard that when a woman moves during sex, it makes them feel gay.
No shit.

Not just Japanese guys. See how popular Rei from from Neon Evangelion Genesis is among the American fanbase, in a purely sexual sense. Apparently the perfect woman is entirely lacking in emotions and interests of any kind.
I blame Taoism. If I recall, women in bed are supposed to be the passive Yin to the male Yang. Taken to the extreme, that means, "lie there and let him do his business."

So, Victorian English women (or at least what they were told to be).

Asuka > Rei based on the very miniscule amount of Eva I have been forced to watch.
Studio Ghibli and Ghost in the Shell.

enjoys just lying there? :? Bleh.
