bonus points if it can be acquired for less than £1 from somewhere like amazon/ebay (uk sites). I'll keep an eye out in local stores obviously, but this little town ain't great for places that sell vinyl, and I've already bought everything remotely interesting from oxfam.

p.s. vinyl crackle is the most awesome sound ever :)
I recommend sticking to belts, gloves, and boots when it comes to vinyl. Pants and shirts made out of that material would probably cause you to drown in your own sweat, which would be even more unattractive than wearing vinyl pants and shirts in the first place.
:argh!:
Well, this is pd.com
The Beatles. Any of their albums.
What is this vinyl you speak of?
:?

listen to, rather than something that would make for great skeet-shooting.

Though I don't see the point of Vinyl Beatles, easier (and far cheaper) to track down pre loudness war Beatles CDs.

I have most of their albums. Including the first. Vinyl is about the experience.
Experience? How is that different? :?

You feel very hip listening to them. Infact you might humorously refer to those who listen to them as
HIP-sters

See my thread in OKM called Listening, not gonna repeat myself.
I have been very tempted to get a beatles LP, probably abbey road, as it's me favourite, but I might well wait until the occasional, completely unadvertised university vinyl sale rolls around.
Currently on order: Purple Rain by Prince and Autoamerican by Blondie.
And a random EP from a and called Dead Fly Buchowski, that I bought entirely for the name, and because it was only a penny. I'm refusing to listen to them until the record gets here, that way its more of a surprise :)

It's true, I am way hip. Truly I am the cutting edge of fashion, which is probably why I've had the same clothes and haircut for 5-ish years. I realised I was so cutting edge I had to wait for the rest of you punks to catch up ;)

My sister has Sgt Peppers on vinyl, I wish she had a record player though :(
ITT, we discover the historic pd.com ambivalence/distaste for the Beatles.

"Sticky Fingers" by the Rolling Stones
"The Clown", Charles Mingus
"13 Songs", Fugazi
"Spiderland", Slint
"Sun Sessions" - ANY OF THEM.
Quote"Sticky Fingers" by the Rolling Stones
price ranges between £35-£200 :o
Quote"The Clown", Charles Mingus
done!
Quote"13 Songs", Fugazi
Apparently I'd have to buy this as its two component albums to have it on vinyl, might save for it tho, damned non-compressed analogue audio formats!

Also a bit pricey, sorry mr. presley.
No bonus points, nut thanks for the suggestions!

my roommate has a growing vinyl collection, and also impeccable taste
Just last night, he returned from a road trip having spent like $120 on vinyl... Last night he treated us to a spin with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. This album was MADE for vinyl. Have you heard any of their stuff? They rock an olschool motown sound, and they do it really well. It feels VINTAGE, and that sounds AWESOME coming off a record player.
If you have a chance, try to see them live. One of the top 10 shows I've seen.
Ultrasound. "Everything Picture". Picked it up in a bargain bin for £4. One of the best buys I've ever found. And no, I'd never heard of them before either. Here's a taster on you tube.

awesome! thanks guys! I'll keep an eye out for them :)

That's half the fun! I'm pretty much using the novelty of having a turntable to explore music that's (hopefully) completely new to me. 'Cause as great as things like Spotify and last.fm are, I
pretty much still listen to stuff I already know (at least in some capacity). So yeh, this is
way more fun :)

Oh, for Vinyl Jazz, my choice would have to be Gong's "You".

A heavy black plastic disc, 12 inches in diameter with a single groove going round and round, in which MP3 Tracks used to be mahgickly stored. With the correct equipment, involving a small diamond, and a delicate armature arrangement, the MP3s could be coaxed out of the groove, by means of the electrical resistance in the tip of the diamond when pressure is applied as it rests in teh rotating mahgick groove. Bit like a record deck does.
