I guess while I was AWOL someone changed the post counts so they show gibberish instead of the actual post count.
I'm certain this has been discussed (probably to death) but I just wanted to voice my steadfast approval. Kudos to whoever's idea this was.
It was Trip's. :)
I recommended they be replaced with random puns but oddly enough there wasn't much support for that idea.

I like that idea if not for post count maybe for regular member status.
Actually, I was just kidding. Besides, puns are rather lengthy and would make that field way too long.
I fucking LOVE it. LOOK AT MY E-PEEN! IT'S MINUS 868¾ lbs. SOMETIMES. MAYBE. MOTHERFUCKER.
It definitely pulls the carpet out from under the e-wangster's "I've made this many posts. Therefore I am not only prettier than you, but also, my words have more relevance" argument. Which is most often utter bullshittery. But occasionally is just insecure teenagers struggling to find some sense of self-worth in an increasingly intangible playing field.

Well, except for that you can still see post count in their profiles, but yeah.

You just ruined it for me.

Then my job here is done.
In any case, you can still gauge an approximation by looking at their user status.

I thought it had more to do with being less easily identifiable by post count during flurries of name changes.

earlier failed attempts are earlier up in the thread, praise is further down :)
Glad you like it :)

Yeah, I believe that was sort of semi- on purpose. Easier to check if someone is new or changed their screenname. Although you can see it by their usertitle as well.

Actually, I was just kidding. Besides, puns are rather lengthy and would make that field way too long.
Still, if you have good ideas on how to make a random pun generator, I'm like a field of corn for that.
Which reminds me, long time ago I read a paper on an AI kind-of program trained to generate jokes, they went for puns only because apparently they are easiest. I should see if I can find it again, I don't think I had enough knowledge back then to understand how their approach worked. There's datasets available that consist of words and terms and their semantic relations to eachother, I suppose they used something like that, but even then it's not quite trivial.
I have less problems with people throwing their e-peens around than the inevitable noob who comes on, posts something stupid, gets dissed for it and then decides it is a conspiracy of all the people with big post counts and no lives, picking on them just like the jocks did in the lunch line at school and it's just not fair mum.
But that's because the second used to be a lot more common on here than the first.
I expect having been on here for a long time, that's really god damn annoying, but I live for the ones that stick around a few pages. They're so adorable!*
*=That's just my opinion. Man.

That sounds awesome.
I want randomly generated usernames.
