So... was he trying to say that the Pilgrims were socialist when they first got to Plymouth, almost starved to death, and then switched to capitalism? That is the least insane explanation and it's still a whole lot of guano.

His logic argument was
Pilgrims left because of religious persecution
In socialism the government has more control
Socialism leads to religious persecution (implied to be against christians)
It's a wonder I ended up the way I am now.
