Title: Berlin Patient, Man cured of HIV
Post by: Persona Facade on December 17, 2010, 11:00:46 PM
While the procedure is still said to be risky and unlikely to work in all cases humanity sure has come a long way in stem cell research. With more research and funding into stem cells and this may become a far more common and more reliable operation. Hopefully events such as this will encourage the United States government to increase funding in stem cell research.
With the best luck this will be the first of many breakthroughs during the upcoming decade, lets all work to make the second decade of the 21st century one of progress.

No, no, lets discuss the comparative anatomy program  :lulz:

Also, I'll have to see your grant source info to make sure you don't have any conflicts of interest that would bias the research. Funding from the UDA, Sicilian Mafia or the Adult Film Industry makes it all automatically suspect.

My funding comes exclusively from private donations. Some things to be aware of for application into the program: It may take anywhere between 2 hours and 5 years to receive a notice of acceptance. In addition, a number of personal interviews may be necessary, though the precise number depends on the individual. The head of the program reserves the right to end the interview process at any time without warning. Also, unlike most other studies, participants are required to pay a variable fee at each interview to cover the costs of the rigorous screening process.

What's all the fuss about? All you need is a ruler, pen and paper, and other scientists to confirm your findings and see that your data is correct. We're talking about quantity, not quality.

I'm sure it is, for another hypothesis.  :lulz:
For this hypothesis you need a large cohort, rather than a small, selective one.

My good Doktor, there are quite a number of variables that need to be addressed for each applicant, and a certain type of character to be subjected to my series of tests. Genealogical inquiry alone is quite a task, that sometimes requires interviewing other members of the family of the applicant.

Family members too? Naughty. you have IRB approval. Extra points if you cause needless family strife.

Now, now, interviews with family members do not necessarily lead to said members becoming involved in the study. And needless family strife is always a possibility in this line of work.

ETA: poorly worded. Fixed it.

Hey, you can have as much fun as you want extracting the data as long as relevant data is collected.
