Title: Airports discipline pilots for telling the truth.
Post by: Prince Glittersnatch III on December 26, 2010, 08:05:51 PM

An airline pilot is being disciplined by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for posting video on YouTube pointing out what he believes are serious flaws in airport security.

The YouTube videos, posted Nov. 28, show what the pilot calls the irony of flight crews being forced to go through TSA screening while ground crew who service the aircraft are able to access secure areas simply by swiping a card.

Video shot in the cockpit shows a medieval-looking rescue ax available on the flight deck after the pilots have gone through the metal detectors. "I would say a two-foot crash ax looks a lot more formidable than a box cutter," the pilot remarked.

Three days after he posted a series of six video clips recorded with a cell phone camera at San Francisco International Airport, four federal air marshals and two sheriff's deputies arrived at his house to confiscate his federally-issued firearm.

A letter from the TSA dated Dec. 6 informed the pilot that "an administrative review into your deputation status as a Federal Flight Deck Officer has been initiated."

According to the letter, the review was directly related to the discovery by TSA staff of the YouTube videos. "The content and subject of these videos may have violated regulations concerning disclosure of sensitive security information," the letter said.

The pilot's attorney, Don Werno of Santa Ana, said he believed the federal government sent six people to the house to send a message.

"And the message was you've angered us by telling the truth and by showing America that there are major security problems despite the fact that we've spent billions of dollars allegedly to improve airline safety," Werno said.

I'm going to refuse the scanners just so someone will fondle my balls. Hey, if I'm already paying an assload for a flight, may as well get the extras out of it.

Make sure he wears protection and ask for the non latex or whatever is not common at their stations

Yes, Mr. TSA Agent, I happen to be allergic to latex, as well as other people's ass sweat, and will likely be sending your fine establishment my hospital bills if you cannot procure a clean set of disposable sheepskin gloves.

I just hope this guy expected to get in kind of trouble--otherwise I'm gonna be more frightened by the stupidity of those to whom I relinquish the lives of my family and myself.

It's not about security.  It really never has been.

Exactly, its what others have responded to the OP, that its about the illusion of safety while diverting resources to useless measures and protocol.

Last month or before that there was talk about the proposition to "Israelificate" the airport security of the U.S., but im sure nobody made much of it, which talked about subtle methods of filtering suspects by checkpoints by trained personnel that monitored body language.

I'm shocked that this guy thought he could get away with something like this.  He'll end up being fired for something stupid but really for trying to blow the whistle.

Pilots have a union, makes it a bit harder to fire people over bullshit.  That assumes the airline would even want to, his bosses may not be any happier with the TSA.

THIS!

If you beat someone down long enough they won't question anything you do.  America has pretty much been beaten into submission at this point.

Not only did we fail to choose our battles wisely, at some point we quit fighting alltogether.

My problem with running our airport security the way the Israelis do is that they not only look at body language but also target people based on their accent and first language use.  So, you hear a guy with an Arab accent and boom! you know who your target is going to be!  Let's not sell ourselves the white lie that the Israelis don't use profiling in the worst of ways (with some reason, of course), and to use them as our ultimate example to me would be in many ways worse than what we already have.

They have that whole "Big Brother's Watching" at airports down to a T.  So no conversation is unmonitorable, no glance or dirty look uninterpretable as they see fit.  You want to talk about conditioning...

Too late.

My method is:

DON'T BE A PUSSY.

That's right.  If you're that afraid, take the fucking train.  If you're ON a plane, and some guy tries to light his bits on fire, either kick his ass, or sit there and laugh as he fails - once again - to perform a simple fucking task.

Terrorists just aren't scary.  They wander around with burnt genatalia and/or singed shoes, and the most competent of them use Goddamn BOX CUTTERS, fer Chrissakes.  So you kick them in the fucking business, and then get back to your $20 shot of scotch.

They're only scary if you're a sniveling little pussy, and have no business hurtling through the air in an aluminum tube in the first fucking place.  Instead of the perv scanner, they should have a guts test before they let you on the plane.  That would also remove the "nervous fliers" that plague me on every flight I make.  Fuckers ALWAYS sit next to me and spend the whole Goddamn flight whimpering.

I'd rather deal with a terrorist, to be honest.  They may be incompetent, but at least they don't whine.

Appropo and he didn't even know--this is, ironically, what I just found in my email inbox from my husband:

He grasped me firmly but gently just above my elbow and guided me
into a room, his room. Then he quietly shut the door and we were
alone.

He approached me soundlessly, from behind, and spoke in a low,
reassuring voice close to my ear.

"Just relax."

Without warning, he reached down and I felt his strong, calloused
hands start at my ankles, gently probing, and moving upward along my
calves slowly but steadily. My breath caught in my throat. I knew I
should be afraid, but somehow I didn't care. His touch was so
experienced, so sure.

When his hands moved up onto my thighs, I gave a slight shudder, and
partly closed my eyes. My pulse was pounding. I felt his knowing
fingers caress my abdomen, my ribcage. And then, as he cupped my firm,
full breasts in his hands, I

inhaled sharply. Probing, searching,
knowing what he wanted, he brought his hands to my shoulders, slid
them down my tingling spine and into my panties.

Although I knew nothing about this man, I felt oddly trusting and
expectant. This is a man, I thought. A man used to taking charge.
A man not used to taking `no' for an answer. A man who would tell me
what he wanted. A man who would look into my soul and say ...

"Okay, ma'am," said a voice. "All done."

My eyes snapped open and he was standing in front of me, smiling,
holding out my purse. "You can board your flight now."

You are a bad man.

So the Good People tell me, as they try futilely to cover their eyes and stop breathing.

They don't understand that I do these things out of love.

Now Ron White is stuck in my head.

There are worse fates.  Ron White has the spirit in him.

More precisely, he has the spirits in him.

Then there's the Roger Solution to airport security...

I tremble at asking....

Wasnt the last major bomb threat a dud too? Fuck, Im starting to believe 9/11 truthers, Terrorists are so incompetent the only way they could ever pull anything off is with government help.

Terrorists create terror* only in stupid people. I mean, terrorism kind of implies an ideology of terror - and it ain't got a hold on those who don't buy into the ideology. Fucking goons.
Mittens, Roger.

Dude, you mean the same government that let 260,000 documents leak?  :lulz:

Fact:  There have been precisely 3 successful attacks inside of America in 30 years or more, and literally hundreds of plots and attempts.  Sometimes they just get lucky.

They're going to have to do better than fear.  I don't doubt they can and will, but I'll be damned if I don't make them.

If it is even slightly related to the "give everyone batons and scotch" idea we came up with last month, sign me up.

I'm still a proponent of this approach. Give all the passengers a stick and a little whiskey, and they'll be HOPING someone tries to pull out a lighter on the plane so they can beat the fuck out of them.

A 37-year-old airline passenger was arrested Tuesday in Miami after primer caps for bullets ignited while a baggage handler was unloading a roll-on bag, the FBI said.

The tarmac incident is not believed to be terrorism-related, FBI special agent Michael Leverock said.

Leverock would not provide details or speculate on how the bag might have gotten on the plane. He compared the primer to a "spark plug" for the bullet.

The unidentified passenger, a naturalized U.S. citizen who was bound for Jamaica, was charged with transportation of hazardous materials. If convicted, he could face a sentence of up to five years.
