'Splains a lot.

Is a drunk, not an alcoholic. Alcoholics go to meetings.

I was not at all surprised about Milwaukee WI being #1 (knowing some Wisconsinites), but I was kind of stunned that Portland OR is #32. But we do have more deaths per 100,000 from alcoholism-related liver failure, so we must be doing SOMETHING right.

Woo Hoo!  The REAL Portland is #18.  Surprised it isn't higher really.  What with bars every where you look, winter and cold 6 months out of the year, and, well, not a whole lot else to do.

Also, I didn't really analyze it that closely, but eyeballing it, there seems to be at least a loose correlation with your city being in a cold climate and being drunk.

Hell yeah! Austin is number 4! I used to live there, great place to hang out and get smashed, people are really cool there, as long as you're not a total douche.

I postulate that Boston is #8 due to the fact that most bars close at 1:00 am, and ALL bars close at 2:00.  Gotta get yr drink on quick 'round here.

I think that loose correlation is also reflected in Europe (Ireland, UK, Russia....) I don't know how cold the Czech Republic is, but I imagine there are other factors that go into that too.

Portland Jr. is apparently doing pretty well at practicing moderation these days. Except for depression. We're still #1 in depression! WOOOOOOO!!!!

If you were to fall from an airplane into any random place in Wisconsin I guarantee you could find a Bar or a Church within 5 minutes walking distance.
