My website and about 10 years worth of accumulated files I was storing there and such have been deleted. With no warning that they were closing so I could back everything up.

If it's a hosting company they had to have a backup somewhere. You may be able to recover some through your cache as well depending on how many of them you've recently accessed and if you don't clear your cache regularly.
may be a google cache as well you should look for. It's hard to make data just go away these days.

It's not actual website files. Those I have backed up and safe.
It's just that over the years every time I found a funny pic or did some work or something like that, it got uploaded. I had a whole folder for just WOMPs, for example.
Granted, it's not like it's going to cost me money or my job or something, but sometimes sentimental stuff like that is kinda priceless, even though it's worthless.
I'm sure 90% of the files are on my HDs somewhere, but accessing my storage folder online was just easier.
IT'S THE PRINCIPLE OF THE THING. HOW CAN A WEBHOST GO OUT OF BUSINESS AND NOT TELL THEIR CLIENTS?!!

So now I just have to pay to set up hosting again (it shouldn't be much), and I can get my files.

They weren't billing me do to an error on THEIR part. As far as I know, this was coming off of my debit card for the past 3 years. Fuck them.
See if they're going bankrupt as part of the reinvention, the bankruptcy hearings would be a good place to get a judge to make them turn over your stuff.

They said that they was a "billing error" with their old company, and had to start over.

Mourning Star has been kind enough to offer me hosting on his server for the same price. So I'll be setting up shop with him soon. Until then, I'm started a site on Weebly so I have a placeholder. The DNS is propagating as we speak.
