"It gives us a good opportunity to have an eye up there. Not a surveilling eye, not a spying eye. Let's make the distinction. A surveilling eye to help us to do the things we need to do, honestly, to keep people safe," said Miami-Dade Police Director James Loftus

I, for one, welcome our new skynet overlords.

I could make an argument. :lulz:
I believe you can currently make a drone for less than a thousand. I think we need one.
(source being Global Guerrilla's, I can dig through if the link is of interest, thousand is not an exact number, simply a range.)
what kind of usefulness will that robot have? everything the drone is able to do, i bet a man in a helicopter is also.
the money should have been used in something with more utility whatsoever. :kingmeh:

LOL. My last hunting rifle cost me $700.00 about 20 years ago.
Nice. My cheap little shotty went for 100.

It's Canada. Along with their free universal health care, each Canadian is assigned a hunting rifle for under $20. If only the Tea baggers knew about Canadian gun ownership.

You don't have to pay the pilot and the person watching the ground. You don't have to pay for lots of fuel to run a helicopter.
A drone is much less noticeable...
The DRONES TOOK OUR JOBS!!!!

The police need to be sure the citizens are engaging in safe and healthy masturbational practices rather than unsafe ones like autoerotic asphyxiation.
The T-Hawk can fly for up 50 minutes autonomously, and if the operator sees anything suspicious, they can take control and zoom in for a closer look.
The device, which costs around the price of a luxury car, weighs less than 20lbs and comes equipped with day and infra-red cameras that relay information back to soldiers using a hand-held receiver.

From what I can find it takes two people to operate this thing. It isn't about saving money.
All this means to me is that eventually, I know someone will be able to see the dirty messages I write out in yards.

Hrmmm, I only saw a reference to a single operator on what sites I poked at... I know the Panthers and the larger drones require two operators... surprised a microdrone with no weapons would also require two.
