Title: Will I get killed for posting this? (T-shirt hell accepting new shirt ideas)
Post by: Scytale Anasûrimbor on January 21, 2011, 04:42:01 AM
ran this by lies, he thought some of you might be interested. if not, i am at thy mercy, and maybe perhaps might not repeat the error. *covers self in bubble wrap and curls into fetal position inside bomb shelter*

apparently t-shirt hell is now accepting new shirt submissions, and since i've been doing a bit of lurking, i think if anyone might have some funny shit to submit, it'd be you guys, so... yeah, that.
funny forum + funny t-shirt site looking for material = potential for more funny t-shirts. the lulz must flow.

I'm writing just page 23 (no, really) and the comic will have 55 pages (yeah, really), so it's going to take a lot of time to be made. So, when it's time I'll let you know - and thank you.
Oh, i'll buy one of those t-shirts one day, too.

Also, Scytale, the punishment you face for that blinking ad will be a thing of legend.  Parents will scare misbehaving children with the story.  Unexplained Mysteries will do a segment on it.  Preachers will condemn everyone involved from the pulpit.  There may be a federal investigation, but nobody will talk.

It's how we roll.

Piece of advice, if you intend to print the comic as a booklet, the number of pages will need to be a multiple of 4 (including the front and the back cover).

(since you get a stack of papers folded in half and stapled in the middle, your number of pages will always be a multiple of 4)

Would you be comfortable with taking payment for pre-orders in order to come up with the capital to get them made? Because I'd be comfortable sending you money, if yes.

That is in the cards. Still working out the finer details so we can do a huge run at once. I still need ideas for a new shirt design.

So far, it looks like by popular demand the shirts will be purple on black and yellow on blue...Ya'll are fucking weird. Lol.

Ok, that would need an explanation. 55 pages of comic, plus 5 pages of professional photos with models and stuff, plus "x" pages of quotes from the Principia Discordia, plus "x" pages of Pope Cards and similar...

Yeah, it's a Discordian comic. I mean, a Discordian epic. Some friend of mine and I decided to try making this, and then we'll see what to do with it.
I'm writing it both in italian and in english, so you may enjoy it (if we put it online) in a few months...

Anyway, I'll talk about it when it's a little less "a project" and a little more "a thing".
And you know too much about it. I may have to kill you all...

EDIT: This is also totally OT. Sorry about that.

Take a normal piece of paper, 8.5x11.  Fold it in half, so it's now 8.5x5.5.  That's how they bind the pages.  one sheet, four panels/pages.

So, the book should be a multiple of 4.  You can get a bunch of sheets of paper and fold them the same way to check.

4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68...

It sounds like you're including miscellaneous filler material, so you can probably make that strecth to fit.

Sorry, sorry, we were saying the same thing, I think. And it's just a project started last week, so until a few months it will be all elusive just as the word "that"... Then we'll magically make it work.
Now I'm going back to work, or it will never be done...

Also, if you go hardcopy, do not exceed 52 pages.  Trust me on this one...As that is the last "comic" size.  Then it goes to trade paperback, and if you're only going over by a couple of pages, you're going to get raped by the printer in a manner that will leave your colon the size of the lincoln tunnel.  Also, if you're going color, keep a copy of the black & whites, as color printing is EXPENSIVE AS HELL, and - here's the kicker - doesn't change the sale price on the indy market.

First we were thinking about using the "Bonelli" model (96 pages, b&w - pretty much the italian average) but we're not even sure we're going to sell it in paperback: a work like the one we have in mind is probably not what Italian editors want (I'm not complaining, that's just how it seems to work - and our idea is kinda weird). The drawers are doing it for passion and just in a second time we talked about actually selling it on the market and not just putting it online as "a thing we did for Discordian fun". Make a 96 page comic to sell out of this idea may be cool, but risky and expensive. Make a Discordian comic book and give it to the people online may be way more fun and way less constrictive (we can insert our photos, memes, posters and writings as we like, just to say one thing).

That being said, nothing is sure right now, so...

What if I open a topic about it to accept advices and thoughts about how to make it and give it away (such as: "Might a "Et Cetera Discordia"-like distribution work?")?
If you want, I mean - that would be really helpful.
