Wainwright is out for the year so the Cardinals are again pulling guys from the back of the bullpen to start. Plus they think Lance Berkman can still play every day in right field. This year should be fantastic!

This surprises you HOW?!

My sister has decided that she is now a Phillies fan for her NL Team. This, of course, broke my poor father. (I grew up in a Mets house for the NL, damnit. We never followed much of the AL until we moved to Florida and realized we had a choice: Atlanta, NYY, or Boston, and no self-respecting Mets fan would really go for either...so we got stuck with the lesser of the 3 evils, and that was the Yankees.......That and Philly beat Tampa in 2008, but we all know this.) But she's been doing most of her work this season for that ball club, and she's gotten to know the players really well.

Their starting rotation is scary, REALLY scary, but their bullpen is kinda schmerp.

I was at the game last week when Roy Oswalt took the line drive to the noggin c/o Ramirez. We swear that if he didn't have his glove up, he would have been killed. It was fucking scary.

I'm an expatriate from Red Sox Nation, so I got nothing.

The only thing I'm looking forward to is my wife getting free tickets again this year so we can go take in a game.

You expatriated? Isn't that not allowed?

I mean, isn't the Red Sox Nation like the Church of Scientology? Once you try to leave you get blackmailed into staying somehow?

No, you just never get to drive through the Fenway on a game day.

Bit of a blessing, actually.

Yeah, I've only been a pedestrian in that area.  I always feel bad for the poor souls who are trying to drive their cars through that mess.  Seems like it would be smarter to fire up the GPS and use some side streets to find a way around.

Stuff I have heard over the past 2 days:

That I should be burned at the stake.
That the Rays only have 12 fans, the rest are vacationing Sox and Yankee fans.
That if I didn't take off my Ramirez shirt, it would be removed by force. (Try me, fuckers.)
That I should be fired. (been there, done that.)
That I should be sacrificed to the baseball gods.
That I should be ashamed I live in Rhode Island. (Right, because it's okay for a Sox fan to live in Tampa, but not vice versa.)
That I should be thankful we have teams like Baltimore to make us look good in the division. (...people obviously don't read stats very much.)
That I need to assimilate or be destroyed.
That I need to move.

God, I love being such a catalyst for hate.

They allow people to do that in public?

And this, in a nutshell, is why I can't stand Red Sox Nation.
