Have a WOMP story line in mind. Not going to get to it tonight since I'm at Villager's apartment, but I'll do it up Saturday during the day, providing minimal hangover. So post some crazy pics here so I can find them quickly :)

lol, no just crazy faces. Mad science or delighted/horrified surprise probably works the best here.

Also, you both said it, you are underrepresented in womp. I'll try to fix that.

I'm going to use this thread for special womps for both you and Khara. I have another one in mind which I will probably get to Tuesday. It's a single frame, but I'll see if I can come up with others in the meantime.
Ha! Very cool. Now I just need a theme...

Bump. Going to mull another one or two over this weekend.

this is still my favourite panel:

:lulz: yeah it's the one thing that time travel fiction always overlooks. When you're going is not in the same where.
Bump.
Had a conversation about the perils of time travel and i used the idea behind this as an example.
...
This also led me to formulate a sequel while i was at work.
cant womp for a little bit. But you have been warned.
Also for math nerds- i actually did the math out. Traveling from 1985 to 1955 would cause the time machine to arrive approximately 1400 AU from Sol. And above it due to the solar systems angle to the galactic plane and direction of movement. This would leave it still within Sols gravitational influence but essentially in interstellar space since its well outside the suns bow shock. ;)

I just tried to figure out what direction is "above" in space, and then my brain collapsed.
I love this thread. How the hell is Jenne doing, anyway? Anyone know?
Technically there is no above. You would be north (or south since i wasnt able to figure out which way the solar system is going) in relation to the sun rather than aligned with its equator.
Jenne seems to be doing ok. I havent been able to log into ebg on my phone though and the internet was shut off at my apt.
I just tried to comprehend "north" as it relates to the sun and I think my brain is broken forever.
I have no idea how to tell directions in space. I would get so lost.
I fucking dig that Twid did the fucking math.
Which makes Twid another one of the PDers that is smarter than me.
I think I might be the dumbest regular poster.

You aren't dumb by a longshot.
I think that discordianism is one of those things that over time makes you start thinking less about how you can make something work and more about how can this go horribly horribly wrong. Maybe the real reason that we havent seen any time travelers is because all the test pilots are floating around dead in the oort cloud. :lulz:
Also coyote i always figured you were probably smarter than me. Dont sell yourself short. All it took was figuring out how fast the sun moves (1 au every 8 days or 1 light minute per day)

Ok, I figured this out while PD was down today. The solar system is heading roughly towards the star Vega (in the constellation Lyra), which 12000 years ago was the North Star (Polaris, of course, is currently the North Star), so, if this were to happen and you were to look at the Earth and had a some sort of sensors on the DeLorean to get a good image, you would be looking at it from such an angle that you would mostly see the Northern Hemisphere of the Earth, with Vega behind you. If you were to look at Saturn, you would see the planet and the whole of the rings.
Interestingly enough, you would also see Vega from such an angle- It rotates at such a rate that it bulges to 23% larger than it is at its poles, and takes on an egg shape, however due to the angle it looks brighter and larger that it is on average to us. This image is from wikipedia which compares Vega to Sol:
Or, I could remember that I have Celestia on my computer, go to Vega, center Sol, zoom to view from 1400 AU and screenshot to actually show you.
That circle around the Sun is Neptune's orbit.
If someone were to ask me, I'd define North/South in the solar system to be the perpendicular axis of the planetary disk or something?
Yes- thats how id definite to too- in relation to the axis. Theres another set of coordinates to describe objects in relation to the galaxy but i dont know them and would probably be even more befuddling at first.
