I have to go there for a conference in July. Is there anything fun to do there? Anyone?
Ask Richter, he was assembled there from spare parts.
The most exciting thing to do is catch the Red Line Metro and head in to Washington DC.
Find Charles Wick, and go smash bags of bees against tables with him.
Bethesda is about 1000x nicer than the pestilent swamp known as DC. Lots of good restaurants and cafes, fair amount of cultural opportunities, lots of pretty, wealthy people.
The only thing I know about it is that my last position at work included booking frequent flights to and from there.
It's going to be an odd couple of days. I'll be going with the director of the grant that pays my salary. Not the director of my agency. I really like her and like working with her...but socially...it's going to be awkward. She's 50-something, divorced, with a kid in college. I'm just getting into my late 30s, married, with two little kids. So yeah, I gotta find me something to do after hours.
So, you're going to Bethesda with a divorced cougar? :lulz:
I've got $5 that says she'll be disappointed when she finds out that you actually are a devoted family man.
Also, if you DO end up going into DC and are interested in an amazing dinner, let me know. One of my really good friends is head chef at Eatonville, meaning that at the very least you'll probably be guaranteed an awesome table.
I don't think I'll go that far out of the way. If anything I might explore the immediate surroundings of whereever it is I'm staying. though if the hotel has a bar and some kind of entertainment, I'll probably just hole up there.

I don't know RWHN taking a dinner trip to DC would certainly fill time you might otherwise find errrr awkward....
I've heard you can do things with bees there.
