See? I
knew I wasn't getting the whole story here.
Now that I know the word actually means something...
:lulz:
Schnurrbart is my favorite word auf Deutsch.
After that is Löffel.
Then I think it is the phrase ober-affen-titten-geil.
German rocks.

And...Horny over ape breasts? REALLY?
not exactly.
"geil" can be used as "horny", but in this case it means "awesome". it often does.
"ober", "affen" and "titten" all individually make the meaning of "geil" stronger.
btw, "schnurrbart" is composed of "schnurren"="purring" and "bart"="beard"

Yes yes, I'm well aware of the usage of slang in German, I just wanted to make a funny post. :jebus:

didn't get that one because i didn't know you speak german. funny post accepted.
I'm not fluent. I can read it okay, I can understand it to a point as long as people speak clearly, but I stumble on responses. My last semester of study wasn't that great and we spent pretty much the whole thing watching Im Juli bit by bit and barely touched the book, so I think I lost progress. :(
Now I am wracking my brain trying to think of other fun German slang.
Using the term "alter" to refer to old people is about all I can think of, and that's not so fun. :(
"Geil" is probably one of the only cases in which a really vulgar word is transformed into common slang.
It's like an American calling something "the sex".
You mean like, "Fucking is The Sex"?
Well, no.
It's like saying, "That's hot." In a slang way, not meaning that the item in question is actually hot in temperature. Or calling something "the tits" when it's not really in fact, tits.
Geil literally means "horny", but in more modern usage, it's coming out as something that is cool.
"Sex is the Tits?"
Better!
"Tits are the Sex?"
Yes.
ive heard americans say something is the sex before. they sound retarded, BUT THEY DO IT!
Yes. Very Yes...We also say uber, which means OVER, not a lot or more of anything.
