Title: ARTIST NEEDED
Post by: Cramulus on June 10, 2011, 04:37:35 PM
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a95/discordman/bin/cardback3pointsix.png)

I need to commission some artwork for NOT UNDER MY ROOF (http://www.principiadiscordia.com/forum/index.php?topic=25529.msg886594#msg886594). For those of you that don't know, it's a card game I've been making. I recently found a really cool company (the game crafters (http://thegamecrafter.com/)) which makes print-on-demand board games. So I've decided to release two versions of NOT UNDER MY ROOF: the NUMR cards, and the deluxe edition, which includes some game boards and pawns so you can play while sitting at a table. (this is key if your friends, like mine, are too lazy to run around the house shouting at each other)

Here's what I'm looking for:

4-6 house maps. These don't have to be too fancy. I'm basically looking for a cartoon version of this: http://southernheritageplans.biz/images/PLAN-1392-SCHEMATIC1.jpg with some color and a texture in the background. Each room needs a few icons to indicate which furniture is present (shelves, table, lamp, fridge, etc). If you can help, we'll talk about it a bit more.

The boards are small. 10x10 or 10x16. Templates here (http://thegamecrafter.com/publish/templates).

I'm also considering just having a bunch of 4 x 4 inch boards where each board is a room, and you assemble the house from whatever rooms you'd like.

Here's what you get:

a free copy of the Deluxe Edition and a million virtual high fives.

Timeline:

My goal is to have a bunch of these things printed and ready for sale by Connecticon on July 8th. That means I need to have all the files ready by Monday the 27th.

and as long as I've got your attention - I'd love some feedback on card design (http://www.principiadiscordia.com/forum/index.php?topic=25529.msg1059570#msg1059570) from any design-minded cats.

You're going to CuntCon?

SO AM I.

DARTMOUTH FETT IS MAKING ME GO.

WE'RE GETTING IN FOR FREE.

I HATE THAT CON, THEY STOLE MY ARTWORK.

LET'S TROLL THE FUCK OUT OF THEM!

DAMN

My dad was an engineer and this reminds me of all his plans I used to stare at for weeks while he worked form home.
I probably would have been good at this.

IF ONLY YOUR DEADLINE WASN'T 2 DAYS AGO!
(seriously you just gave me a Wells Fargo deadline)

The deadline's not for 2 weeks!

but I realized I typed "June" instead of "July" for the Connecticon date.

@Suuuuu: hell yeah I'll be there. I run the boffer tourney every year. I have never paid for a Con. That's for suckers!

WE TOTALLY SHOULD ENTER THE BOFFER TOURNEY.

No. I won't. The last time I did that at a con, Herbert and I got disqualified for hitting to hard and being the SCAdian ringers. :( DF used to play Realms though, this could be funny.

some realms players won the tourney last year. They win because they understand that boffer weapons are not like real swords. It made a bunch of kendo people cry and whine and carry on like poor sports. There's this one dude who brings his kendo class to the tourney every year and they take it WAYY TOO SERIOUSLY. It's worth watching for that alone.

What is it with SCA players and headshots? I used to run LARP modules at cons, and every year there'd be one or two SCA players we'd have to throw out because they were cracking our volunteers full force in the face. After we warned you twice, it's not an accident, you're just being a jerk!

ANYHOW, I'll either be at the boffer tourney or the Merchants Wares (http://merchantswares.com/) booth. This year I hope to have some time to actually walk around and see the con.

It's reflex.  SCA fighters are used to the head being the heaviest armored part of the body, one of the safest shots you CAN throw.

This is why, if I ever come play your game, I'm gonna have to do some work before I get there to get that "take the head" reflex beaten down.

Heh, that's cool that you're making game boards. I was looking around on-line last night for blue-prints and floor plans to use for a forum based version of NUMR. Hell, if someone (I may give it a shot) makes up some boards for the deluxe version, and you didn't mind, I'd like to use them for the forum version. Also, someone needs to make a "Temple of Doom" style board, with no exits, and instead, a sacrificial alter on the center of the top floor that behaves like an exit.

Also when you come up against people who don't have to guard their heads it turns into a giant "HIT ME" button.
One of the reasons I won't do LARP or those "backyard" shinai groups that don't use head gear.

you really should call it the lazy ass version, rather than 'deluxe' though.
