WHAT WHA WHAAAAAA?!
THIS IS GOING TO BE INSANE.
Oh. Fuck me. It's going to be in 3D.
I knew they were making it, didn't know about the cast.
However, none of that means anything in the wake of 3D. GATSBY IN 3D? :x I hate Hollywoodeverything.
The first thing I think of is how much I hate 3D.
Then I remember it's Baz Luhrmann, which means it's going to be psychotic ANYWAY.
That's a good point. Maybe there will be a non-3D option?
I hope so, I can't see what if any benefit 3D would be.

There usually is.
I'm not much of a Luhrmann fan, but I do like Gatsby
I've always hated the book...maybe the movie wont suck. but seems like a stupid movie for 3d
How would The Great Gatsby be in 3D?

I hear tell you put on some fancy plastic glasses and suddenly things jump out of the screen like they're heading RIGHT FOR YOU.

The Green Light at the end of Daisy's dock looks
really far away.
FUCKYEAH 3D.
I want to see the eyes on the billboard bulging out almost into my lap. It's the only way today's high school students will get their significance to the story

oh christ
My roommates LOVE the Great Gatsby. LOVE it. Last winter, they talked about it incessantly. They threw a Gatsby themed parties. They heard about ANOTHER Gatsby themed party in New Hampshire and drove there just so they could do it again. This is going to set them off into another month of chittering. And then after the movie comes out, another month of bitching about it. CHRIST.
by the way I've never read it, but at this point I don't want to

Near as I can gather, it's a book that will never be read by, or the lessons never heeded by the kind of people it warns against.

You really should, but keep it to yourself so your roommates don't get all crazy on you. As far as the American classics go, that's at the top of my list (with fucking Ernest Hemingway waaaaaay at the goddamn bottom.)
I hate that book. I will hate this movie. And I will probably want to punch people in the mouth when they yammer on about how great it is.
It's like Catcher In The Rye but with a main character who is even more impossible to empathize with than Holden Caulfield.

That's all I needed to know. I'll be passing on both book and movie. I tried the book once and shat my pants with the waste of food I hadn't even eaten due to pure boredom.
