Title: Welcome Home, Harry
Post by: Doktor Howl on August 08, 2011, 04:32:08 PM
Hey, it's Harry!  Come on in, man, there's plenty of room under the bridge, right?  Just like last night.  Just like every night.

Hey, Harry...You don't look so good.  You sick or something?

Jeez, you've only been hanging out with us for a month.  You sure are losing a lot of weight, man.  I mean, you ain't doing any meth, and you're eating mostly regular, right?

Harry?

Harry?

Oh, shit.  Hey, Gabe, Harry's out like a light.  He don't look so good, he looks maybe like he ain't gonna wake up.

Yeah, right.  You get his shoes & jacket, I get his wallet and his roll.

Let's go.  The cops can handle this and be gone before nightfall.

Oh, what the hell, sure.  We'll call from the Circle K.  It's the least we can do for the old guy, seeing as how he gave us all this nice stuff.

Let's go.

Hey, why isn't anyone laughing?  :?

This is what America™ has demanded for 31 years.  This is what the working class is screeching for now.

It's here.

Where's the victory parade?

It's not what I want. This new direction has me fearing for my life.

Sure, but you have to put things in perspective.

George Buckley plans to sell up to one-third of his shares in the Maplewood-based 3M company by Dec. 30, thus avoiding any future capital gains taxes.

And doesn't that make all of our sacrifices worthwhile?

I just can't force myself to view that as a positive. That is just one more step in class distinction and casting the poor out on their asses.

Maybe we could send the poor over to die on his manicured lawn.

"Arlington" him, like Grant did to Lee?  Intertesting idea.

The system is completely broken.

Maybe if you're young and agile and have a mentor, you still have time to game it, but us old fucks, we're at their mercy. Because by the time you figure out how you could have gamed the system, it's too late.

Maybe we could send the poor over to die on his manicured lawn.

And sprinkle some on the lawns of the Teabaggin' Freshman too, so they get a notion of WTF they are doing to "their" America, "their" people.

I heard an interesting viewpoint this weekend:  that roughly 1/2 to 2/3 of all the congressional "job pool" (i.e. the jobs people had BEFORE they went into Congress) is made up of LAWYERS.

It could be surmised that THAT particular group of individuals might be out of touch, after a fashion, with the rest of the populace.  And that Congress would do mightily with an infusion of different points of view from people from OTHER walks of life.

And that, as a whole, Washington, DC is not UNemployed like the rest of the US, other than pockets of extreme poverty in the urban areas.  So even THERE, while the US is going down in flames, middle-class-first, DC seems unaffected.

And lastly, a lawyer's JOB is not to negotiate in court but rather out-maneuver and debate THE BEST.  BEST argument WINS.  So we're not sending to fight for us any true negotiators but instead "master debators."  So it's no wonder Congress + White House is a buncha wankers.

This whole series is awesome and I know I've said it elsewhere, and I'm still crying.

This is no longer the trend, it has become the norm.  And we asked for this shit.  I think that is the part that drives me the most batshit.  WE FUCKING ASKED FOR IT!!!  You called it and no one listened.....  :argh!:

Damn Roger, not sure how much more truth I can take today, but keep it coming, you are certainly on a roll!!!

:mittens:  EXCELLENT!!!  :mittens:
