QuoteIn another sensational attempt to draw attention to the plight of animals, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is planning to launch a porn site later this year.
A spokeswoman for the group says the site will feature adult content along with graphic images of animals that viewers may not expect to see.
"We are preparing to launch our own peta.xxx site, but instead of just showing people our iconic ads we then show them how animals suffer for entertainment," PETA's Ashley Byrne told Australia's Herald Sun. The organization says its sexy side displayed in galleries and videos will quickly give way to the sinister world of animal mistreatment uncovered by the group's hidden camera investigations.
So, it's bascially going to be an animal torture porn site.
Fantastic.

So... They're setting up a site catering to sickos who get off on seeing animals abused?
How is THIS a good idea?
Bear in mind, friends:
PETA is not actually about preventing animal cruelty. It is a proto-cult wherein members try to be more fanatical than the next spag in an eternal cycle of one-upmanship.

Yeah I read it. It's one of the thumb tacked ones I believe.
Well, to me the horror of fallout is that there's no easy way to tell if there a radioactive element that mimics, say, calcium in a piece of fish or if there's uranium in the blood and glands of a lover or oxidized in the air.
It's also an unknown fear of the future in that even small amounts can cause mutation in a population and we recently received... um, not small amounts on a coastline.
I've got this darn soft spot for people you see. It's a life long and crippling malady..

So fucking what? Your fish is already full of arsenic and mercury, which will fuck you up way faster and in worse ways than a trace amount of radiation.
For fuck's sake, this is the 21st Century. EVERYTHING is poisonous. Your food, your water, your TV, your politics, your sex, EVERYTHING.
There's no sense screaming about it to people who can't do anything about it, and have FAR more pressing concerns. Telling a man who is on fire that he has skin cancer is hardly productive, if you catch my drift. Right now, people are worrying about whether they'll be able to eat ANYTHING in 6 months, whether they'll have a place to stay, that sort of thing. Telling them about radiation that has already escaped and can't be cleaned up serves no immediate purpose.

Fear is seeing the reactor burn.
Loathing is thinking the radiation might hurt you.
Horror, though, horror is realizing that the world is actually falling apart,
for no reason at all. There's nothing actually wrong with the world, and every nation on Earth is jumping down the elevator shaft in financial panic.

This was all over the news a few years ago.
There's a roundup, here:
http://petakillsanimals.com/
In 2010, PETA reported that, at it's Norfolk, VA office it found homes for a whopping 44 animals. Not 44% of the animals in PETA's care... 44 animals. It destroyed 2,200 adoptable cats and dogs.
The super-special part is that in most cases, they didn't even TRY. They just picked them up, gassed them, and threw them in dumpsters. Including, in some cases, pets that were being temporarily boarded while their owners were out of town.
WTF?
I gotta know...What was their justification for THAT?
Probably "owning pets is exploitation because animals aren't meant to live with human overlords", or some such psychotic bullshit.
Found a couple of verifiable cases of PETA stealing dogs off of chains or runners in yards. Nothing about them stealing pets being boarded.
I can't find the article to link to because I read it a while back, but it was about the animals that the two PETA employees were convicted of killing. They were taking them from the shelter, but some of the animals weren't strays.

:x And I thought I was shameless and self-promoting. Hmmm. I feel a plot coming on... I'll see what hatches. PETA needs to have their ethical limits tested.
(or at least made fun of) :lulz:
I think you should really do some research first... PETA is one of the last organizations I can think of that needs to have their ethical limits tested, because they don't seem to have any. These people steal dogs from shelters and then kill them, by the truckload. They are scum.
what?!
for real? like, verified?
they do this regularly?
Did you google it? Because yes.

Please refer to them as "PETA Cultists", not "PETA Employees"...
holy shit did you look at PETA's wikipedia page? it's practically fortified ... there shall be no "criticism" or "controversy" section on that page (see the Talk: page). this is the most blatantly unreliable/inaccurate page on Wikipedia I've ever seen ...

Wow... that's weird. Though once again, it highlights the unreliability of Wikipedia. I'm guessing there are quite a few PETA members/employees whose job it is to be Wikipedia editors and reinforce each other's editing decisions.
